Thank you Shad, great video. We had to make the houses a bit bigger than in reality because of AI-Pathfinding reasons, but not by much. And you will be amazed by the inside of our castles, churches or the moanstery. And of course we are woking on Bugfixes right now. :)

A lot of ''critics" are not liking this game because it takes a slower approach to a story, more like one of the great fantasy novels like LOTR. I think that the slower tone and not knowing how to fight ''properly'' until like 9 hours in is a perfect design choice, makes Henry feel real
@SilentSpringz

Only game feels slow because u get send far away for quest. Fast travel is slowwwww. I get the point but if u get fetch quest on 3 diffrent places. Also the travel Goes slow orrrr game crashes and u do the shit over again. On a very slow way and load time or worse load time for talking. I still like the game but hope bugs get fixed and maybe load times so game feels bit faster whitout changing the game.

Mount and Blade is a completely different kind of a game. It's closer to a management and tactics than a classical RPG. Come to think of it, Skyrim isn't much of an RPG either, but at least it's open world. Meanwhile M&B has you teleport around locations.

In eastern Europe there were 2 ways to build palisade one was perpendicularly and the other was horizontally ... this palisade was called "ostrokuł" in polish. < A mistake from my part here this form of wooden fence is named "parkan"> You build it by putting 2 oakwood perpendicularly carved them so they would could hold between them other less valuable wood layed horizontally. Like in this game. Oakwood was very expensive and valued because it was used as foundations for houses (where wood toughed ground) ... oakwood has a very interesting property ... more water it soaks, more harden it becomes and it does not get moldy. This was very common way of building palisades in Commonwealth especially on the borderlands where Tatars and Russians raids were a real threat.
@Nethan2000
@Nethan2000 6 жыл бұрын
Are you referencing Jędrek? kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYaao6OjdpesZrc He said something a bit different and used different names. The palisade in Polish is called "palisada" or "częstokół" and looks like you normally expect; it's vertical stakes inserted in the ground. olesnica.nienaltowski.net/Mury/czestokol.gif "Ostrokół" is a temporary construction, in which stakes are arranged in an X to help stop cavalry attacks. It looks like this: commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Schonen-Wikinger_Museum_Foteviken_12.jpg And finally there's a "parkan", in which logs are arranged horizontally to prevent logs in the upper part from rotting. olesnica.nienaltowski.net/Mury/Parkan.gif
@vilwind3522
@vilwind3522 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are right ... I'm very, very sorry my mistake. Mea culpa mea maxima culpa. I used wrongly name "ostrokuł" when I should have used "parkan". My mistake. You explained the difference 100% better then me. Thank you. On the other note: yes, my comment was inspired by that video of Jędrek. Unfortunately I have seen it so long time ago that I made this unforgivable mistake. If anyone is interested Jędrek is a history enthusiast, castellan of Chojnik Castle and man with extraordinary knowledge of history. He become rather famous propagator of history on polish You Tobe. No complaining about how the second dialog choice for agility is about archery? Don't worry, bro, I got this one. The dancing one for the first makes sense, but the second one should have been a footrace with Matthias or something instead, because it doesn't matter how agile you are if you don't have the guns to pull the bowstring. We can forgive this mistake though, because in the end, what does it matter?

Meh.... only if it isnt hindering the story. Later on, the village gets attacked. One of the first cut scenes is of a man getting shot, with a horse bow. Arrow goes through his mail, through his body, through the next layer of mail, and sticks out a foot or so. Wide triangular head, vertical, so it must have also gone through a few ribs... Then the unarmored smith goes bersek on a few soldiers. Kills two of them (because an named artisian will be much better at fighting than a guy who's profession it is, not?). First one he stabs in the abdomen, through the mail. Insta kill. Second one he slashes open the throat - either through the mail (and plate?) or the guy just forgot his throat protection that day. Then the bad guy enters. Without helmet of course. Because otherwise you wouldn't know that he was the baddie. TLDR: seems some guys tried to make it authentic, but the story department didn't get the memo, or considered their story more important.

Haven't gotten too far into the story, but early on it's hinted that Henry's dad was the Medieval equivalent of a fuckin' G Of course that doesn't excuse him cutting through armour, but eh, I was able to let it slide for dramatic purposes. +hames tree - I wasn't thinking in terms of glass, but the size of the hole itself. In medieval times they were more often covered with animal skin or shutters, I think. +Nethan2000 - After doing some light research, Wikipedia claims the first windows were holes in the roof to allow light to get in and were found in buildings in the 13th century BC. Most medieval windows would still have been animal skin/bladder or shutters and I think rich people would start having glass. Could be wrong though. Didn't check the sources.

I am also Czech and I prefer Bohemia because that is the original English (and Latin) name of the Kingdom. And yes, it is sort of like calling the UK England (slightly less so, Bohemia and Moravia are not as differentas Scotland, Wales and England are) or calling the Netherlands Holland (which is technically wrong yet almost everyone does it), but I think it would be nicer since foreigners who know history would link the modern day republic to the old kingdom (which oficially only ended in 1918 anyway...albeit at that time it had been a part of the Habsburg Empire for about 300 years). In Czech the words "Bohemia" and "Czechia" are actually sort of identical but in English it confuses things. Czech republic is still the official long version by the way, kind of like "the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" is the official name of the UK. Bohemia would be a much better short name than Czechia, I think, but it doesn't really matter that much really (as long as nobody confuses us with Chechnya or something :-P ).

@ wu1ming9shi: They should speak 15th century Czech with a southern Bohemian dialect to be perfectly accurate :D Trouble is, few people would understand that today. And the game has to make money, so they have to prioritize English. But I get what you mean. I tried playing Witcher 2 in Polish with English subtitles but the voice acting was clearly worse than the English one, they simply paid better actors for the English version since most people would play it in English, so i switched back again. Obviously the Witcher takes place in a fantasy world, but somehow I feel like Polish would be more fitting to it (I find the stereotypical "scottish dwarves" particularly annoying...they did a cool thing in the Czech translation of the books - the dwarves speak with a very strong Moravian dialect, which just works great...I wonder how they talk in the Polish original).

If anyone wonders: I have spoken to the developers on Facebook (we have mutual friends). They will implement a Save and Quit function... The rest of the game will stay as it is, they will just patch it out. Make a lot of bug fixes and make it run smoother. Nothing else will change, but they will make a DLC.

If you like the game as it is, then that is great. If you dont, it means you will never like it. I dont... So I will probably never play it. Even told the developers, but they want you to experience their game the way they want you to. I dont want to experience it that way, I dont like games that force me to never save and loose hours of progress, I dont want games that make me fail every persuasion check and games that cannot be just switched off whenever I feel like it. Sadly, Vávras ego is even bigger than his game. He made a game as he loves it, but forgot that people want to play the game aswell.

Yeah, there is a mod. Who cares. I should not have to mod my game to make it playable. Its the same as Bethesda games. They are mostly shit before you mod the fuck out of them. It has 70% on Steam and about 80 on Metacritic. That is not good... not good at all. They expected to have 95 everywhere, but their bug ridden mess is just that unplayable. I have heard of people loosing 6 hours of progress because of numerous bugs, I have heard of people getting all their saves corrupted and needing to start a new game. Vávra boasted that any developer who releases a bugged game and has to make a day 1 patch failed at his job... Well, I expect him to resign now. He made a 22GB day 1 patch and the game is Assassins Creed Unity level of bugged. Maybe even more.

Shad, I wanted to comment for a while now. I greatly enjoy your channel but I have to say, your explanations on historical accuracy in fantasy settings really got to me as DM for D&D. I have to try really hard not to be too realistic in my choices as not make it too hard on the players. ;) I love your series on fantasy races re-armed and all the responses to it and other videos of that kind. I'm currently playing with the idea of creating a campaign setting based on classical antiquity and mythology for D&D, with many of your ideas thrown into it.

The game really is amazing, but I can't see how it would be practical to play it on a controller. The reason I'm saying that is that on the PC version you have a ton of mapped buttons for the game, so things could get tricky with the compromises made for the controller layout. As for the game itself. The controls are a bit clunky at first compared to Witcher 3 or Skyrim, but you get used to it in a while. Fighting has an especially steep learning curve, and with Archery nearly being impossible if you haven't spent a few hours on it already (get yourself a bow and go hunting, steal it if you can cause money isn't all that easy to get early on due to limits to carryweight). The game is great but it struggles a bit with stability (I have had a few crashes on the PC) and the animations are a bit off at times. It's still a terrific game, especially if you consider that it is at least partially crowdfunded.
@Nerazmus
@Nerazmus 6 жыл бұрын
The fighting gets really annoying when you are facing more than one opponent. Well, money is relative - you can get a decent amount of money quite early on to provide for basic needs and training, but don't expect to buy full plate anytime soon. Honestly, there are not that many keys and the game is designed with controllers in mind Great game, great video. Give more.
