Sorry, but Roxas isn't a crucial part to finding out the lore. To be brutally honest, he was used to show how Nobodies can grow hearts and be able to feel. As a matter of fact, the whole "Sea Salt" Trio were used for this. This is why many people continue to squeal "omg Roxas has suffered the most in the entire series!!1!1!11" since they kept putting him into emotional situations so they can show off more nobody feels.

I think this is another case where Nomura dug himself into a corner for not really planning ahead for some of these future installments. The whole bit with Ventus inside of Roxas could have been true until DDD came along. Considering the evidence of Roxas looking like Ventus and DDD being the only latest installment where now they're saying "Oh Nobodies can regrow their own hearts." Which goes against the whole bit as to why in KH2 everyone kept saying "Oh Nobodies don't really exist and are doomed to fade into darkness sooner or later." Which is why Roxas' whole summer vacation thing ended with him having to go back to Sora. If the whole growing a new heart was true then Roxas might not have had to fuse back to Sora. Let's face it Nomura couldn't account for everything and it only makes sense as he tried his best to make it all connect given some plot holes.

TheDark4light maybe these new hearts they cultivate are cuz of how human they choose to be with their emotions. I dont think Xion will ever grow a heart cuz shes not a real nobody shes a replica made from memories that needed to disappear. Besides it says can not that they did, so maybe Nomura can clear that up by stating that they can regrow hearts if they are strong willed enough and they lost their old hearts for good maybe? not sure he dug a hole and them making new hearts sounds to crazy. Maybe he meant like they regrow what they remember their true heart use to be. I mean they may be nobodies but that doesn't mean they can feel or remember what they use to be and act on their own personalities. So i guess from that they "grow" new hearts or temporary ones until they can fully become themselves again. I think ill think of it that way to make sense with the story. But yea Roxas def has Vens heart, if Sora turned heartless, his heart, then vens heart would have no where to go alexcept Roxas. Roxas built himself around the strong feelings Ven has in his heart for his appearance and part of himself but what he learned after filled in the rest. Also it was stated that nobody's will try to replace the heart the moment they can and will be able to mimic what it feels like to have a heart again so maybe that's what it means they want what they had and maybe some of them do remember like Axel and Roxas and it's like they have a new heart except Roxas really does have one.

As I see it, it may have some sense. Nobodies can regrow their hearts, but maybe if they already have a heart (like Roxas having Ven's heart) they can't regrow another one, so nobodies like Axel could regrow their own but Roxas couldn't because he already had Ven's.

An empty vessel can recapture a heart. The lack of emotions and all that, it was just a lie all along so that the different members of Organization would act as simple pawns under Xemnas clutches and help him build his own version of Kingdom Hearts.

No, Roxas is feeling with his own heart. Look no further than the first few days of Days. Roxas acts like a complete zombie. Void of feeling. But over time he begins to feel. If he felt with Ven's heart he wouldn't have this zombie phase. Sort of proves that he developed his own heart. Plus it doesn't really make sense that Ven's heart would enable him to feel since it was broken to begin with. Also, finally DDD proves that all nobodies can have hearts. It's just that Roxas was the only one pushed to the brink to which he had to cry. Honestly. that's a misconception in itself

Yep, the dual wielding misconception was one of them I believed in and now I get it completely. For the last one I think not even Nomura could have thought of the back story for BBS right at the first installment and make this little foreshadowing, it's very unlikely and as you said, it's most likely because of Kairi's memories. I actually knew most of these misconceptions and some of them were pretty interesting. Hah, you can always learn something new in this series, it's so refreshing xD

No. 7 isn't quite right. Yes Roxas did have Ven's heart inside of him, but Roxas also grew his own heart. This fact is seen in Kingdom Hearts 3D when Sora is dreaming and comes across Namine, Xion, and then Roxas. Then Sora and Roxas talk, and Sora starts feeling the things Roxas felt. Then right before Sora fight Xemnas, Xemnas confirms that nobodies do grow hearts, thus proving Roxas also has his own heart. Yes it is hinted that Ven is inside Roxas, but it is also hinted that Roxas grows his own heart through out Days.

I think it's more of Roxas not growing a heart but more of Roxas is able to get emotions because of Ventus. It's not Ventus's emotions but Ventus's heart that Roxas is able to show his own emotions throughout the game. So what Sora is going through is Roxas's memories what Roxas was able to feel himself throughout the whole segment of being alive while having Ven's heart to be able to show and feel those emotions. :/

Another common misconception: Since the game is made by Square Enix, and have some of it's characters like from Final Fantasy and The World Ends with You, alot of people believe that they own the rights to the franchise...while it's true that is Square who develop and publish the games and Disney allows them to use their characters, is Disney who owns the rights to the franchise AND IT'S CHARACTERS (except for the Final Fantasy and World Ends with You characters of course, those are owned by Square Enix).

About the "Roxas' heart or Ventus' heart?" thing... didn't Xemnas himself state in Dream Drop Distance that the "fact" about Nobodies not having a heart is kinda a lie? I mean he said "one can banish the heart from the body but the body will try to replace it the first chance it gets". And then something that some Nobodies showed signs about having some kind of "spare part", a regrowing heart (including feelings). Would that not explain in retroperpective why Roxas had emotion? And even if it was said that Marluxia, Larxene and Co. just seemed or pretended to have feelings, wouldn't it make more sense that they actually HAD feelings due to this? Both seemed actually angry/mad/sad about loosing to Sora and even all non-traitors like Xigbar, Demyx and Luxord always seemed to "lively" for emotionless people. Just making sure.

Orcawolf25 From what Axel said, originally the organization members used their memories to try to remember how having a heart felt, pretending to have emotion. You can feel the stoicism when you speak with most, and the few that don't are holding hard to their memories and their past, like Demyx. However, like Xemnas said, a heart can be "nurtured" and stimulated to grow. Most organization members were so focused on their own goals that they didn't leave time for exposing themselves to emotion, thus they didn't grow a heart. However, Roxas, Xion and Axel exposed themselves to a friendship where many emotions were constantly poured over themselves, like love, fear, anger, which stimulated them, and with a little bit of help from Ventus's heart, they grew hearts, which started taking shape after every event that they lived. Oh, and Namine was able to grow a heart because of the contact she had with Sora's memories, which poured many emotions into her and allowed her to build her own, and ultimately made her feel bad for tricking Sora. If you think it like this, if Axel didn't befriend Roxas, maybe he would have never been able to grow a heart and would have stayed like a zombie and pawn of the organization.

Misconception 11: People thinking there has to be exactly 7 Guardians of Lights and no one else can help out during the final fight. The 7 Guardians are just the people who are needed to forge the X-Blade with the 13 Darknesses. So yes, it is possible that all of our main heroes will join the fight.

Hey Cynical, I'm happy you finally mentioned that Deep Jungle/Ventus connection! I've been thinking about about this for the longest time and feel like if it was intentional, then it's some of the best foreshadowing I've seen in a game. It's still possible though since we don't know how crazy far into the future Papa Nomura thinks and he could have had Ventus in mind for quite a while, but only time will tell. Once Sora and Ventus finally meet up it's gonna get crazy!

i do find this helpful make no mistake, but i also feel like some of what was said in the ultimatum bbs interview kinda undermines facts that have happened in the game. for example the thing about roxas's dual wielding. In my honest opinion if the second keyblade was from VEn and not XION, then riku catching oblivion SHOULDNT have triggered the dormant memories of xion within him. it MAY be possible nomura was slightly trolling or testing us fans to see how much we truly do pay attention, or nomura having to deal with kingdom hearts as well as alot of other square enix properties might have stressed himself out to the point where he has forgotten some key details of his work[hell it happens to me alot] of course thats my OPINION

So correct me if I'm wrong, Ventus's heart broke at the beginning of BBS and gave birth to Vanitas while the other half got some of Sora's heart to be able to subsist, then at the end of BBS Ventus beat the other part of his heart (Vanitas) and so his heart was broken again, but this time he went inside Sora's heart. Then in KHI Sora gained Kairi's heart as well, so he had 3 fucking hearts at this point. Then at the end of KHI, when Sora lost his heart (and Kairi's heart), he lost Ventus's heart as well, which went inside Roxas, which explain that Roxas actually had a heart despite being a nobody, while Sora went into Castle Oblivion with just his own heart. Finally after the events of KHCoM and 358/7 days, Roxas (which had Ventus's heart at this point) went back into Sora, while also acquiring a part of Xion. Finally, Sora ends up with Ventus's heart (including Vanitas), alongside his own, and Roxas's non heart (including Xion's non heart). DAAAAAMN VENTUS !!

thank you! i actually just posted a comment on that as well. and in my opinion i think sora actually can weild 4 keyblades but not all at once, and he utilizes the drive forms to use each one. i believe valor may come from xion or ven. master takes the other[probably ven though] and final comes from roxas since you can only unlock it after beating roxas yet the "ultimanias" state that its all from ven. i havent played vens story in bbs but i DOUBT his power was THAT flexible and also the story in ddd not being thought out fully because jiminy and mickey not recognizing him. didnt yen sid mention at the start that when they visit the sleeping worlds they're visiting the dreams of those worlds? meaning it would make sense they wouldnt recognize them cause one they are the dream forms of them, but ALSO because it would be pre-kingdom hearts 1. maybe even pre-bbs

Air Flair Xion's keyblade isn't fake. Her keyblade comes from the same origin as Roxas, just like the memories that made up her personality. Also, we learned in DDD that Xion was able to grow a heart, even though probably it wasn't fully mature, allowing her to keep her identity. Although people don't remember her, this allowed her memories to exist somewhere within Sora's heart, which is clearly seen in a cutscene in DDD where Sora meets her.

Cake# Riku is not an expert on keyblades. Xehanort and Eraqus would be the closest to that. Riku could've meant it in the sense that it isn't hers, or he only thinks that Sora or he can wield a keyblade at that point in time. But either way, the keyblade came from Sora's memories. You know, thing that makes Xion Xion. It is a real keyblade. It's just not hers. That doesn't make it a sham, or fake. He'd essentially be calling Sora's keyblade fake because it is Sora's keyblade. If you were to say "b-b-but Vexen could've created it!!", then I'll ask why it was able to collect hearts. Why do you think Roxas learned to duel wield right after Xion died? His keyblade went back to Roxas along with the memories.

Roxas having Ven's heart doesn't mean he doesn't have one of his own as well. Ven's heart was sleeping until Xion died, it gave him nothing but appearance. Roxas had to grow his own in order to feel. Sora outright SAYS Roxas has a heart in DDD after feeling what Roxas is feeling, and Roxas is inside of Sora so he doesn't have Ven's heart anymore. Meaning he needs to feel on his own, and we've seen Roxas feel multiple times since - making Sora cry when leaving TT, his anger over Sora in TWTNW and his trust on Sora in his conversation with him in DDD.

For everyone raving and ranting the modders DON'T want Square to see this video and have there work taken down. He explains in a response video that Square has in the past taken down community work for their games. GamersJoint is one of the channels Square watches and showcasing the mod might put the mod as a whole under fire and be shut down. The modders have all made it clear they are putting a lot of work into this and want nothing but to let people enjoy this. However, its useless if Square is to somehow reject the mod and shut it down.

On your second misconception regarding the location of Ven's heart, I don't believe that Ventus is inside Roxas, the reason being that Ventus and Roxas are each their own characters according to Nomura on that same article. Furthermore, Roxas and Xion kept draining power/ memories from each other and Sora; this is supported in KH1 when you fight Xemnas, Re:COM and 358/2 days. When Roxas defeated Xion, he received the power she had stored therefore gaining the ability to Dual Wield. Plus, the article stated does not even say about Ventus heart being inside Roxas

By far the biggest misconception the entire fanbase has is that Nobodies are actually a thing. They're not, they're just regular people who have had their heart violently ripped from them. They're every bit as capable of feeling emotions as anyone else, but they're numb from the trauma at first and have to regrow their hearts. Xehanort lied to them and told them they were psychopaths in other to manipulate them and convert their burdgeoning hearts into his own. People referred to as Nobodies are just ordinary humans, ordinary humans that have undergone intense suffering, but ordinary humans nonetheless. This has been blatantly the case since their first appearance in Chain of Memories, though it was only officially revealed to be the case in Dream Drop Distance. I don't know how people still make this mistake (this video included at #7 and #8) when it's very clearly stated and explained in Dream Drop Distance.

Jax Wanderer Actually, it has been stated that the keyblade that Sora got when Destiny Islands was consumed by darkness was Riku's, but since he had given to the darkness, and thanks to Sora having Ventus's heart, the keyblade chose him instead. You can see this again in KH 1 when Riku takes the keyblade and calls himself 'the original owner' ,but later it goes back to Sora to show that, indeed, it had chosen Sora.

Ven's heart was within Sora's in KH1, right ? Yet he didn't dual wield. And Sora's Keyblade is from Riku. The Ultimania test didn't say Roxas's second Keyblade in his dual wield comes from Ventus, it only said Sora's comes from Ven's Keyblade. By the way, Ven's Keyblade became Roxas's in 358/2 Days so you may be half-correct if you say Sora's second Keyblade comes from Roxas. Since Roxas's own Keyblade comes from Ventus, the second Keyblade could only come from Xion or in this case the will not to forget her. Unless you're saying this second Keyblade has been forged from his will and does not come from Xion directly, but in this case this is a brand new Keyblade and not one originating from someone else. Bravi'M Any castle will do, and since Kairi has only been to Radiant Garden and Destiny Islands, and Sora had yet to see a castle before that point (bc he was always on the islands), it only makes sense that it would be Kairi's heart. Ventus' heart was said to have been dormant before the events that caused the creation of Roxas. Sora didn't dual wield until Ventus' heart started to awaken while with Roxas. (My theory for that is that nobody's despite not having hearts are trying to pull memories of feelings but fail to pull nothing but memories. Since Roxas actually had a heart with him it started to wake up due to him subconsciously trying to pull feelings from it.) On the part about the Kingdom Key choosing a master.. Riku was granted the ability to wield a keyblade. The Kingdom Key chose Riku, while having a list of potential other candidates. When Riku chose darkness the Kingdom Key decided to go down the list to Sora (since the first game it seems the reason has been made that it was bc of Ventus, but originally probably just being the next closest and purest thing). At the end of KH1, Riku showed he was worthy of holding a keyblade which is why KK went back to him. It was when Sora showed he had a stronger purer light that KK went back to him and chose him for good (or until Sora messes up). Riku will always have the potential to wield a keyblade, because of the ceremony, but a keyblade of light will not stay with someone who is on the side of darkness. Riku has since shown himself to be light, so he now has a new keyblade from the realm of light.

It didn't appear for her like it did Sora's, and Riku still had his own. Was he just carrying a spare for... reasons? Hm, but then there's the fact that Xehanort literally took over Terra, as in pushing his heart deep into the darkness. I believe to dual wield, you need to accept the heart or have it in balance with yours. Xehanort is constantly trying to demolish Terra's heart and is not accepting it. He's trying to make it so that Terra's heart will vanish.

Sora has two hearts, his own and Ventus'. Nobody's don't have hearts. Yet, Roxas was a "special nobody" and had feelings that the others didn't. So what if Roxas had Ventus' heart? When Sora's hearts turned into a heartless, and his body turned into a nobody, what if Ventus' hearts was still in it? This would mean that Roxas and Ventus were the same person. But obviously Roxas didn't remember because he lost his memories when turning into a nobody. So when Ventus is revived, so is Roxas, because they're the same person.

In DDD it's stated that all the nobodies formed their own sort of hearts. Xehnort was deceiving them when he told them they felt nothing. So Roxas had his own heart and Ventus'.

I get that this vid stated that keyblades are passed through inheritance and can even. be accidental but I thought the point of inheritance was to pass something from one individual to another. Usually if you inherit something your predecessor is usually deceased or given up the item. How did Eraquis give Terra and Aqua keyblades through that ceremony and still use a keyblade? I would guess it's because masters pass on the ability to use the keyblade and not the weapon itself but the issue of the predecessor being alive would still be a problem. Maybe Nomura well retcon in an answer but for now I'm stumped.

So the way I see the "Roxas dualwields because of Xion" thing is: Roxas uses Ventus' keyblade and Xion uses Sora's, and thus, when Xion "returns" to Roxas, Roxas wields both "his own"(Ventus') and "Xion's" (Soras'). Sora, Roxas, Ventus and Xion all share Sora's and Ven's keyblades. Since Ven's heart resides within Roxas, Roxas can use Ven's keyblade. He should also be able to use Sora's, but for some reason he can't. I believe that is because Xion occupies it. Near the end of the game, Xion and Axel discuss that Xion grows stronger, while Roxas grows weaker. In other words, Xion is draining Roxas, but we also know that Xion is siphoning Sora's memories into herself, probably through Roxas, so she is probably siphoning Sora's keyblade as well. And when Xion returns to Roxas, she also returns Sora's keyblade to him, allowing him to wield both without interference from Xion The only problem with this theory is, that 358/2 takes place while CoM takes place, meaning that Sora and Xion would use the keyblade at the same time. My thoughts on how that work is, that Xions keyblade at first is just a "replica" keyblade originally, but grows stronger and into the a real keyblade eventually. Riku does refer to her keyblade as a fake, implying that it's not really Soras keyblade. But maybe it's just not Sora's keyblade YET. Since Xion's growth isn't an immediate process. It would also explain why Roxas wouldn't be able to dualwield from the beginning, since Sora would still be using the other keyblade, and it would continue to be with Sora, until the point that it was completely transferred to Xion.

I already knew most of these… In response to the "Roxas has Ventus' heart" one though - yes, he does have Ven's heart, which is why he is able to function as a somebody AT FIRST - however, I see no reason why he can't have his own heart as well. He changes at lot over the course of the game, starting out a lot like Ventus, all sweet and innocent and kind of naive, just like Ventus is. But as Roxas' story progresses he becomes less and less like Ventus - he ends up harder, colder, more serious and while this COULD be attributed to Ven's heart changing under the strains Roxas goes through, it could also be considered evidence that he has a heart of his own growing alongside it. Xemnas himself says that over time a Nobody can develop a kind of pseudo-heart in place of their old one and while Roxas does already have a heart, it's only a partial heart since it's Ventus' damaged one, so I don't think it's so unreasonable to think that Roxas had his own grow in to fill the holes. Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.
