And if you're asking why not have the cutscene just be a flashback, it's because Square Enix wanted to show other parts of the story between each Disney world that SDG went to. Without Mickey and Riku's epiphany being where it is, there'd be a gaping hole where SDG just went to two worlds in a row without the viewers seeing anything happening in the background.
