Symphony of Sorcery is a world I do hope we see again in a future KH. Just imagine it in PS4 high detail. Originally they were going to use pieces from Fantasia 2000 as well. If the world returns, fingers crossed for a Firebird boss.

I CERTAINLY wouldn't mind a Hollow Knight side quest while we wait for the Final Mix update thing. Of course, we still haven't completed the compilation of Sonic animations across all games/generations :p I've been patient, Dan, so please make it count! haha

Agreed. Hollow Knight, even with editing, will take a hot minute to complete. That game is so dense, especially if he does all the side quests, DLC, and the secret ending (ok, maybe he might want to borrow a clip for the secret ending since it's so hard to get). Pepper in some Sonic videos, the KH Union cutscene thingy (which is a bit over an hour), random stuff, and maybe DS2 with Dan Jones, and that leaves more than enough time to reach whenever they release KH3's DLC.

As I post this comment, Cadence of Hyrule just came out, and seems like it would be right up your alley. I'd say time it with the DLC release. Aside from giving us the complete package in more coherent fashion (instead of the DLC much later than the finale of the main game), it would also mean you release it in a time more people may be randomly looking for it in youtube. Yeah, the game is a little hazy on whether the two friends are in completely separate versions of the same world, or in the same version but out of phase somehow. It's almost like it's all happening in some sort of dream rather than in normal, logical, reality... With that in mind, you can go back to things like the city of bells (Hunchback) and the giant Dream Eater that Riku defeated in the air, and which fell on the plaza for Sora to fight, and renew the speculation over whether they are truly separate, or whether they crossed over between the two. Of course, the problem with making the crossovers more of a game mechanic rather than strictly story is that it would force greater synchronisation onto the two story threads - as it is, the first drops are forced based on story-time, not real-time, but otherwise the two can be wildly out of step any time short of the endgame.

I vote for waiting for the DLC. The final mix versions added some neat/important scenes in the other games and I'd want to see that in KH3. Plus, like the other comments said, taking breaks to play other stuff between KH games could help extend out that time. Also, I'd love to have a tiny rainbow creature named after me!

We've still got the 0.2 / A Fragmentary Passage and however you want to handle χ / Union χ, plus we've already been on this Story Mode series for near to a year now. I'd vote that it'd worth it to hold off the additional few months between those and the winter release. (assuming we don't see one of those notorious Square-Enix schedule slips)

Dan, you should Side Quest play Hollow Knight before Kingdom Hearts 3. It'll give you some more time to wait for KH3. Also the DLC seems to be expanding a lot on the ending of KH3? But also more. Personally I would prefer it if you waited until the DLC is out. It'll give both you and the viewers the most complete experience

On balance, I think I'd favour waiting on Re:Mind for KH3 Story Mode. In the meantime, there's still Back Cover and 0.2 to cover. In the meantime, definitely TWEWY is worth a spin, and maybe something like the Legacy of Kain series? (though the graphics on that remain PS1/2 era). I'm still hoping to see you/Carrie play through Life Is Strange someday too :)

Personal opinion - I don't mind waiting to get 3 if it means that you get to play through it with the DLC. I'm unsure of what the story parts will be, but it rectifies what I consider to be a grave injustice that occurred in the endgame, that I think you'll agree is a good change. I'd be more specific, but I don't want to spoil, in case you and the others viewing have managed to avoid the spoilers till now.

Perhaps in the fill til the KH3 DLC is released, if you rather wait for that, you could take brief looks through the KH web and mobile games beyond the sliver Back Cover covers. Like one or two episodes a week and leave the rest open to Side Quest. That or use the gap in time for a TWEWY playthrough.

I haven't seen anything KH3 yet, other than a return to Olympus. I'd say wait for the dlc, because from what I remember the final mixes generally had secret bosses that were acutely important for future games. And you'll be playing those games.

You have 0.2, back cover, and a quick overview of the whole X/Unchained X/Union Cross thing before 3 gets involved. On the other hand, ReMind is coming "this winter", and that stuff isn't long enough to vamp for half a year. I'd say get through the three things above, then maybe take a hiatus so you can make your first kh3 ReMind playthrough on Story Mode.

We don’t know any date on KH3’s DLC at all, which makes it hard to say wait in my view. It’s still possible the DLC’s far out or will be canceled. Maybe just play it when you’re ready and then come back to the DLC when it’s out. Though I will say some of the things coming up (union cross) might take more time which could handily solve the problem.

As a player of KH3 I might want to wait for the other people who can. I think I mentioned on twitter that the Story from the phone game also has some consequences for KH3 and recently released more minor cut scenes that give more context to the game. I know KHUX isn't fun to play but Id argue It will be more important then Coded for the story.

Some of what's been revealed about the DLC is changes for existing parts of the game, as well as more add-on stuff, so some of it will be available as post-game content, but some will probably change up what happens earlier in the game.

What other games are on the to-play list? If a TWEWY playthrough is officially happening, it would take a while. Not long enough to get to winter on TWEWY alone, but a while. I feel like I remember whispers of Hollow Knight, but you may want to wait for Silksong to release. Since you like rhythm games, nay I suggest you consider Cadence of Hyrule? It would be a worthy addition to the channel, either in co-op or solo. Again I’m going to append my almost-name, Willow, to my comment because my username wouldn’t work for a Dream Eater.

I would personally recommend a playthrough of TWEWY before doing KH3. There are elements of the story of KH3 that make more sense with the added context of Tetsuya Nomura's other works.

I know everyone is saying wait for the DLC, but considering how KH3 was often joked about being Vaporware and how it took a damn decade for it to finally show the hell up...I don't really like the idea of waiting just because something might come out in Winter (unless it gets delayed, and really how many times did KH3 get delayed?) and might have story in it? I'd rather you played it, and then when or if the DLC comes out in Winter and IF it has anything interesting to import, add that then?

I say wait for the DLC for KH3, play The World Ends With You Final Mix in the down time. Trust me, it's super fun. You won't be able to play it the same way as I've been, though, I've been playing using the Switch's touch screen and I don't know that it's super possible to record it if you play that way.

Seems like the KHIII DLC will be all endgame stuff so I think you should go ahead and start playing the game when you've gotten through everything else because there's a good chance it won't become relevant in your playthrough until it's released anyway?
