Funnily enough, the concept of Kingdom Hearts was basically an elevator pitch. To combine original characters with Disney characters with Final Fantasy characters.

Who would’ve thought trying to explain the plot of 13+ titles would be confusing!? 😱
@Arexion5293 Жыл бұрын
It's not complicated. It's just a case of a story writer constantly coming up with fun ideas they want to add to the story, not considering how they can fit into the already established world all the while glossing over proper elaborations because all of the plot details really exist to deliver emotional story sequences, character arcs, build up, suspense and pay off. It's like a piece of poetry, focusing only on the emotion while the actual logic and its implications are mere details. So any of the logic and world building kinda just is, it's all convoluted and elaborate excuses to eventually deliver on a cool idea or a moment. Like for example, what exactly is a heart? It's basically a collection of the person's thoughts, feelings and memories, which grows along with the person. Why couldn't it just be the equivalent of the soul? I dunno, but this way we could get Lingering Will, so that's cool. Nobodies probably have a soul as well, even if some of them are an entirely new person like Roxas. So what's a soul then? ... I dunno, but the Final World was neat.

I'll be honest, I was in the same boat with understanding the lore back when Kh3 was out. After spending time learning the series it's became way much easier to understand. I know everyone says its confusing, but it always will be if you just never take or have to time to absorb the information piece by piece. Most of everything we know now has slowly been given to the players over the course of 2 decades, so of course it's going to be confusing for newcomers who watch up a summary. I think that's just a given when writing a grandiose story and universe as Kingdom Hearts with new terminology and rules. Is it the most perfect story? No. Is it the best way to tell a story? No, but I sure as hell enjoy it.

As a Kingdom hearts fan i can't do nothing but to confirm that the Lore + plot + freaking story, make your brain melt and with nomura reveling more and more plot that's too much.

Let's be real, KH isn't hard to understand when you have absorbed all the infos the games gives you (dialogues, reports, ...). Most people who think KH is confusing : a)Didn't played the games in their entirety or at all (and just meme about it) b)Skipped games that are not KH1, 2 and 3 c)Didn't pay attention to the info the games give d)Were not invested in the universe The whole "KH is confusing" narrative is way blown out of proportions by the internet. I've seen many new players discovering the the franchise, understanding it, being invested in it and loving it. So, there's no reason to not understand it except the reasons above.

It's almost like having to play every game in a series to even understand what is going on is ridiculous. Either you should be able to go from 1 to 2 to 3 or they need to stop freaking making numbered entries like that even makes sense at this point let alone when they start going into God dang decimals. If you number things you create an illusion of chronology. Either way, requiring somebody to have played every single game in the series is bad design, flat out. Doesn't help that some of these spinoffs were initially released on completely seperate platforms. Like, the first game I played was Chain of Memories on the GBA. I didn't even _have_ a PlayStation, let alone any idea who tf Ansem was. My second game was Days. My third game was Dream Drop Distance. I had absolutely no freaking clue what was happening, and none of it was my fault. I had absolutely no idea who this old man voiced by Leonard Nimoy(RIP) was. And I have never owned a Playstation in my life. All you'd have to do is miss _one_ game. _One._ And suddenly you will be entirely lost. Have no idea who the Master of Masters is? Better play a God dang mobile game. Heck I bet they somehow made the _rhythm_ game canon, though I absolutely suck at rhythm and thus will never play it other than that one time I borrowed it briefly to unlock that one song in Smash.

@@brolytriplethreat But there is a chronology tho? 1 then 2 then 3. There's just other games in-between those games. Stop confusing yourself and for once in your life use your brain. A series requiring you to play every single game in the series isn't bad design. It's meant to establish continuity which KH does very well. You're not supposed to be able to jump into the latest entry of a series of games without playing the games coming before and expecting to understand what the story is about in the latest one. That would make the games that came before that pointless and would be the same as me starting with for example God of War 3 without playing any of the other games before. This is a basic concept that is used with nearly any video game series and you're complaining about that?
@anidiot1923 ай бұрын
@@bruh5073funny thing about God of War 3; it proves you wrong. God of war 3 isn't the 3rd God of War game to be released and is the last Greek game on the timeline. But if you play God of War 1 and 2 (and no other games) you'll understand God of War 3. The same can't be said for KH3. Also what they meant by "it gives the illusion of chronology" is that it implies that you can skip the other games and understand everything. And the thing is if you skip Chain of Memories and go from KH1 to KH2 you won't be missing much (litterally everything you need to know can be learned in Riku's part of the game, which didn't exist before KH2, so in KH2 it's presented with that in mind) but if you go from KH2 straight to KH3 then it becomes clear that you're missing a LOT of information.

I'm a pretty big fan of KH but I'll just relay pretty much what everyone is saying but simplified... I guess XD. *AHEM* While the story of KH *as a whole* has a lot of confusing elements i.e. multiple versions of the same character, time traveling, a metric sh*t ton of characters, and literally new terminology... If people really cared enough, just *playing* the games in chronological order actually just gives you all the information you need in order and at a very reasonably understandable pace. People just don't want to because of Disney and some cringe dialogue XD And all in all, the games are fun as f**k, seriously that is one of the best parts apart from the music

I think the answer for why the story is so complicated and why there are Final Fantasy characters is because Nomura didn't get to make Final Fantasy Versus 13. He was so bitter that he set out on a revenge quest to give the entire planet a migraine.

The games are just.. REALLY not clear on whether Somebodies are the same person as the original lol Most of the time all the main ones just coincidentally only have a Heartless or only have a Nobody shown, and then when they're a Somebody it just acts like whichever one of those we saw before. So with Lea it's like "Lea turned into Axel and then back into Lea, but Lea is still Axel." But then we get Xehanort where we saw both his Heartless and Nobody. And they're both completely different people, Ansem SoD and Xemnas. And both of those are also separate from Xehanort. So when he returns to a Somebody he just turns back to his original personality instead of those two other ones. And also TIME TRAVEL SUDDENLY EXISTS so he brings back the other two versions of himself even though he's not dead anymore and they all just hang out together and be a big villain team and it's SO CONFUSING Also when he first died he was possessing another guy's body so his Nobody and Heartless look like that guy instead of him but they ALSO don't have that guy's personality. It's just.. two entirely new personalities came out of nowhere. And when he turns back into a Somebody he is INEXPLICABLY BACK IN HIS ORIGINAL BODY??? This is NEVER EXPLAINED. And the time travel stuff also let his "me possessing someone else" version come back and is also treated like a separate guy even though he should be the same as the current one and BECAUSE WHY NOT also him as a child is here AND ALSO he's possessed like.. five other guys BUT ALSO one of them wasn't really possessed and somehow Xehanort just... Didn't notice??? And the entire time we're also dealing with like fifty Soras and seriously KH3 ending is just Peak Problems lol Still was glad to see a happy resolution for people like Lea and Vexen and Xion but when I can barely comprehend the evil they're fighting against its a little awkward. ALSO AT THE LAST MINUTE bam Xehanort somehow wasn't really evil and was just pretending to be evil BUT his clones with the different personalities ARE evil I guess?? And we just get told "hey buy the next game to find out wtf his story is" lolllll The series is fun AF but I think it's just best enjoyed if you don't try and understand the plot and just enjoy the emotion, haha.
@Bunni8911 ай бұрын
So like Sometimes it's "oh I'm alive, now I died and turned into two things, only one of them is sentient apparently and it acts exactly like me, now I'm alive again and I remember everything from being dead" And sometimes it's "I'm alive, now I died and two entirely new people are born, now I'm alive and I'm also an entirely separate third person who DOESNT remember being those guys" Also SOMETIMES the Nobodies don't age and sometimes they do?? Ienzo, Lea and Isa all grew up from kids to adults while being dead, and stayed as adults when they came back. But Xehanort had magicked himself young again before he died, his two clones stayed young no matter how much time passed, and then he poofed back to being a grandpa when he came back to life. Nothing is consistantttttttttt
