Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories Is Not A Good Game

Kingdom Hearts is such a unique franchise. This series originally started all the way back on the PlayStation 2, but it's still going strong on the PlayStation 5 and other modern hardware. The series has even been ported to other systems like Xbox and PC! While there's a lot of games, including Kingdom Hearts 1, Kingdom Hearts 2, Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 4 and more, this series is truly special to me. Borrowing from both Final Fantasy and Disney mythos, there's no game quite like it. It's not common to see the likes of Cloud Strife go up against Hercules, but it sure is exciting! #kingdomhearts #kingdomhearts4 #gaming

This game frustrates me a lot but I enjoyed the original version on the GBA as well. It had a really unique aesthetic and feel to it that didn't translate at all to the PS2 version.

I really like the graphics of the original and the story but the card gimmick was always iffy for me. It really doesn’t hold up when you play the ps2 version or the remasters of it. I wish they had included the original in the collections

I’ve only played the game once. I don’t remember if it was on the hardest difficulty or not. Personally, I think this is one of the best games in the series. I had a lot of fun with it. If nothing else, the story is still great.

Re coded is not that bad it has a really cool and in depth combat system the only problem is plot and gimmicks.

KH ReCOM has issues but it’s not the worst game in the series. Its faults in design come from trying to preserve the handheld game’s experience. The combat has a ton of strategy and is as fast paced as the action games. Plus the sprites and look of the GBA was incredibly charming. Personally the worst one to play in my opinion is Days, and it has the opposite problem of days. It was trying to be a console KH game on the DS. Remaking it would actually improve it.

I completely agree with both of you. If I replay it sometimes it would probably be on beginner but I'm bummed out cause I'd like to get most of the trophies for these games over time but I still like the story here and I still want to let's play the Riku part.

I have an odd dislike for hack-and-slash games that include random mechanics to them that I feel like needlessly complicate the combat (the FF7 remake is probably the biggest example for me). Chain of Memories is another one for me. If I ever play it on the KH collection, I'm probably just doing it on the easiest difficulty since I am really turned away by the card combat.

See I like the way that game does it cause at least it's preserving elements of the original while doing something fun and new. This game just chucked cards in there and Idk why.

@@joeycondomony8098 I personally just found FF7R kind of clunky and needlessly punishing. Maybe I am in fairness missing something having not played the original, but I feel like I'd have actually liked part 1 and kept going of it was more turn-based like it was before, but I feel like the new system just clashes against itself if that makes sense.

I personally really like the way it's done in FFVIIR because I didn't think it was overly gimmick based or complex to the point of removing strategy and I like that you can pull up a move list to strategize etc, but I get it won't be for everyone. I personally do just miss strictly turn based FF games. The original FFVII might be closer to what you're looking for gameplay wise. It's basically always on sale too.
