@Michael Maddox, when i first saw the title i was a little suspect, but i reserved judgment to the end. My sincere and honest opinion is, these people found a place where they are happy, safe and at least living out some of their dreams (the one lady wanted to be dancer, at this place she is), so i guess my only criticism is the Dorms and them not being allowed to actually form adult relationships and all that comes with it. The rest good for them, and who are we to judge.

Even if the park owners make money off them, as long as they are paid and get normal rights, I’m ok with it. At the same time, if they close this place, I hope we can all agree and truly think: "How are they going to provide themselves? Through government aid? Treat them as ill? Treat them as abnormal human? Wouldnt that make them more sad and not actually help their happiness and cause? Also, wouldnt they also feel burdened and sad? I thought we should treat all human equally race, health, and sex" If they have their own place, be happy and can make earnings without causing anyone harm and entertain them, I think as a human: they have better career than most of us.

Would it be pandering of me to say that I found this documentary to be cute? Not because of the fact that they're little people, but moreso because they've found a way to thrive and be successful and overcome so much. I can see that people could view this park as demeaning but you can tell that these people are extremely happy and content. Maybe it's a bit of a bubble, but it doesnt' seem like they mind. I really enjoy how unbiased this was because you got the impression they went into it wanting to show a negative story but turned out to be the opposite.

***** It is controversial because there is the idea of integration. That means everybody even the most severely disabled have a right and should have a chance as well to live a normal live fully integrated in a normal society. It is a nice dream but who ever belives it is true in even the most advanced society is cheating on himself. It is not, maybe it could become true in some ideal society in a distant futue but today it is not. Man they did not even solve the problem of racism yet. Some people are kept from getting into certain jobs because of the colour of their skin or their cultural backgrounds, not just because they cant reach the higher storage areas. It is an idea of equality that has become an obsession. Why do people have to be equal if they are happy with being special. The idea has even become an excuse for imperialism like they don't pray to the same god as we and they are not eating at McDirt and drink black suggar sirup, we have to free them and make them equal.

I know China. My wife is Chinese and I used to live and work in China for several years- I can tell you that it is better for these little people to live there. I remember one day, I was with my niece who was around 13 and we met a very small man who was asking money. My niece told him that he must dance and sing to get money. I get angered with her explaining that you cannot treat people this way. I gave the man some money and had a conversation with him apologizing for my niece behaviour. He told me "No, don't apologize, your niece is nice and lots of people are usually not that nice with people like me, making jokes, petting, and other things...…" So, I think that they are fine in this place, where they can share time with other people suffering from the same conditions, making money and having a great social life. If I was a Chinese small person, be sure I'd really prefer living there.

Exactly, what would be the alternative? Each little person out on their own trying to survive, looking for work, facing countless odds and social bias. The real estate developer offered them a chance to develop a community and to have the opportunity for long term employment. The entertainment industry is based on acting out roles for peoples amusement. Why is a "normal" actor seen as a star and a little person seen as a "zoo attraction". The people who are against this park are the ones saying the cruelest things.

Those of them that are able to have children will have kids, and those that can't are surrounded by others that are also unable to reproduce, there's nothing wrong with this. They have a support group, and are being taken care of. This is a much better situation than most afflicted with a form of dwarfism can expect in many different regions of the world.

When it comes to having children, there's a difference between the two types of dwarfism. Women with disproportionate dwarfism don't typically have troubles with pregnancy. That condition mostly affects the length of a person's limbs. Trunk size is usually fairly average and the condition doesn't affect hormones. The young couple both have proportionate dwarfism, which is caused by problems with the pituitary gland. It's becoming more rare due to the fact that it's curable if treated early, but as explained, their families were poor and they did not receive the proper treatment. This type of dwarfism causes a lot of issues that would make pregnancy difficult if not impossible due to hormonal imbalances. Women with proportionate dwarfism may not be able to ovulate, or if they do become pregnant, their body simply can't regulate hormones well enough to carry a fetus to term. And yes, there can be difficulties based on size as well since it's not just the limbs that are smaller. If a pregnancy does manage to advance far enough, an early C section is typically required.

Thats a good question. I would be more comfortable with this theme park if each worker had their own private dorm. They all just seem stuffed into close quarters. Perhaps the available living space is just an option, freely given on top of the paid monthly wages. They are free to live elsewhere if they want to, but choose to stay because its free rent. Also, sexual relations might be prohibited because it is a population composed of workers. It is a business, after all. I doubt disney theme parks would condone rampant sexual relations, even during the employees down time, on company property, regardless of relationship status.

Oliver Morland yea voluntarily because of where they came from they are being frowned upon and looked down on. In fact, they are probably chased away from their family and home because of that. Sure they are happier in that park as an attraction. But if they would just be accepted and treated like everyone else, I'm pretty sure they rather stay where they grew up and with their families and friends.

Not only is there nothing wrong with this people should go out and support it. Sure it may bring some negative attention to little people, but it also creates a community where these people can feel equal and don't have to worry about judgment. Imagine if you had a genetic disorder that made you very short and look young, imagine how difficult and judgmental society could be but then you find a place where everyone is like you, your pretty much guaranteed a job, and there's no more judgment.

***** sorry I said "normal" because at the time I did not care much in my writing. I had meant to say "the society, from which they come from (i.e., the world outside of the kingdom of little people)". I do agree with you that there are alot wrong about our world, but I just accept it as a reality. Regarding the bit about racism, afaik there are studies showing the evidence for both nature and nurture playing their role in the development of racism. I'm not sure how that is related to this video, but if you tell me the title of the documentary, I'd love to let it enlighten me a little bit :p
@ythsh
@ythsh 9 жыл бұрын
***** sure i found the vid no problem + just finished watching it too (i love documentaries lol) but uhm honestly I believe that being a racist can be a good thing too. It will mean that you have a certain love and pride for your country, and that you are able to recognize the problems caused by multi-culturalism. I'm not saying it should be okay to say racist things to other people and attack them for the color of their skins. I grew up as a kid in North America as a racial minority. Because of my ethnicity, I have experienced some traumatic events that developed several personality disorders that I still carry on today. I know it sucks to be a subject of racist ideas. Having said that, there are still some truths to people disagreeing with multi-culturalism in U.K. There are certain dangers of condemning them for being "racists". Sometimes, the best way to compel and change other people is by first just listening to what they have to say. Btw if I have a particular preference for British accent (because I think it's so awesome and sexy and stuff) does that make me racist or nah

The people calling it a zoo are the disrespectful ones. They’re people in the west trying to virtue signal on social media who know nothing about the situation. The “little people” appear happy and there’s no sign that they’re being mistreated at all. They are making a salary comparable to the average in the area, which is not bad considering they would have trouble finding other jobs. They enjoy living with each other, and this arrangement appears to overall be a good thing. It’s a win win for everyone.

Sarah Makarem when she asked the couple what do they like about each other they answered like they where 10 years old not like adults. I think because they’ve always been treated like children they have not matured to where they would be if they were not little and if they were in the world like most are, dealing with everything on their own. I worked with a little person here in the states. She was married to a normal sized man with normal size children. She was a “normal” adult, just little. You would never talk to her as anything else...at least not twice...

I think she was also speaking so that a translator would be able to understand and have time to translate her communication correctly. Also I think that the couple was a bit more shy in front of a camera and just shy in general. And then there is the overlay of being in China and making sure to say the correct things so as to not get oneself or one's family in trouble.

And how afraid they were to speak outside of what was aloued. The people I met were so scared! I do not trust a word these people are saying about how great the life is in the village. IF they would say otherwise, they will probebly be punished and punished hard. Also many people in china live so poor that we in western countries cant imagine. So this might be the option to starvation. I know, my spelling is awfull. I am dyslectic and not english, sorry about that.
