Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.

Ferrari”) serving as executive producers.

Isn't second :15 interesting? Is the guy beside Mae an astronaut? Is Mae the descendant of Astronaut George Taylor or Astronaut Brent, somehow traveling through time to help her father? Or is she the descendant of Astronaut Leo Davidson (from the movie released in 2001), traveling back through time to try to stop Proximus Caesar from making the world like that to which Leo returned? Or is she simply from a tribe of humans that shared a DNA strain making them immune from the virus? If she'd merely been awakened from a cryopreservation pod, she could conceivably become infected at any time and the plot could become less interesting, indeed. At any rate, perhaps we can all agree that our being held in suspense about Mae, like we are, is excellent marketing, especially for the 10th movie in a 55+ year old movie franchise? :-)

I love how these movies integrate true historical wars, religion, primatology and science fiction. It makes it so much more relatable and engaging watching the character's emotional, physical and societal struggles. In this one, we get a heavy theme of political manipulation. A good wake up call, both for the treatment of today's apes and our current political state as people. 🦧🦍🚶
