Each version is its own canon. The new films don't fit the continuity of the originals either, and the original films don't fit the novel that they're based on. So there's at least four different "canons".

The original films, the 2001 remake, the TV show, the animated show and the reboot all have their own canons + the book. None of them connect but the book, 1968, 2011 and both TV shows share a set-up.

Yeah, no. They’re 3 separate universes/ series. There’s the original movies Planet of The Apes 1968 - Battle 1973. Tim Burton’s failed remake. And the reboot series. Rise, Dawn, War, and Kingdom of the Planet of The Apes. You’re jumping through mental gymnastics trying to connect them all. Fail. P.S. Not everything under the sun has to be one big connected universe. FFS 🤦🏻♂️

The best way to think about the timeline for the planet is the Apes is the original movies are the end of the timeline so Battle for the Planet of the Apes is actually the last film. We discount the Tim Burton film as it's just a reimagination. The films that have Andy Serkis in them are the history Zira and Cornelius know. So the best idea is to start with the Andy Serkis (rise dawn and war) then watch the Planet, Beneath, Escape but keep in mind everything after conquest has been accelerated because of the presents of Zira and Cornelius, the more militaristic ideas and the fact that all cats and dogs have been wiped off the face of the Earth. Simply put their presents rewrote history.
@lukefoster57949 ай бұрын
I like to think of it like this. When they traveled back in time during Escape they created a new timeline, one in which Zira and Cornelius are Caesars parents and apes and humans coexist, and the true history which got messed up when they traveled back in time. So now instead of Caesar starting his revolt in the 70s, same with the astronauts heading to space is now moved up to the 2010s

Timeline didn't really help after you went off the rails with the Burton film. It just turned into recounting the movies as they released. Technically: -the original five films exist in their own chronological order -the Burton movie is in its own universe -the new Caesar trilogy (plus the most recent Kingdom movie) still has not confirmed whether it is a prequel series leading up to the original 1968 film series' start or just a full remake series that only nods to the originals for homage.

Well there is some evidence and theories that suggest that the Ceaser Trilogy is Canon. Possibly prequels because when you look at Rise, it literally shows you the virus that rendered humans mute along with some other evidence And this fact that Rise pretty much chronicles the apes evolution with the help of the virus Now the 2001 Tim Burton film is definitely not Canon to anything No one said no to Tim.
