@Tricky Gym Hey Andrew, I got a question. A rainbow energy reads you can use it as any type of BASIC energy, and since there were no BASIC Darkness energy in this format, it doesn't seem to make sense that you can use a rainbow energy for Darkness energy right? O_o

For the purposes of paying the cost of an attack, yes. Though the additional effects will not be provided. Thats the official WotC ruling for it. sorry for the two years delay jsajsajsa.

@@horokai LOL Better late than never. So it CANNOT be used to pay for attack cost, e.g discard darkness energy; but it can still count as darkness energy ? Just want to clarify :P

Hey, I just watched your pack opening on derium’s and I have an idea for a series. I heard you talking about the mutant cube draft you did and thought the idea of some sort of league would be where you could play mutant decks you created from your own collection against other people in the tcg circuit since I imagine most people you’d invite in have a relatively large collection. Rough rule set: -6 total people in the league -play each of your opponents twice in a bo3 format for a total of 10 matches played -can’t play a deck more than twice (so you have a minimum of 5 different decks) -top 4 do playoff series in a bo5

I hate to break this, but Rainbow Energy cannot provide Dark energy, as Dark E is not a basic energy type.At 22:06 that is an illegal attack.

Rainbow energy provided metal and dark. Wording on cards back then was sometimes poor, but it is definitely established that that is how Rainbow energy works: jklaczpokemon.wordpress.com/2002-base-to-neo/

@@natalieshampay214 Love the article, thank you for sharing. Is this written down in any rulebook or anything wizards provided? I played back then and Rainbow is every basic energy type when attached where Darkness is not a basic (wasn't until 2007), so we never saw any weird or poor wording issues with it. I never competed in high level tournaments but it was never legal to use Rainbow for Metal or Darkness.

Buzz Saiyan I’m not sure if I can provide anything that clears it up besides testimonies from players who also played back then... every report from worlds and nationals up until 2007 indicates rainbow would cover dark. If it didn’t, there’s no viability in Sneasel in Neo at all due to energy removal. I would assume it’s the fact that the energy symbol on the pokemon means basic energy, so even though there was no basic dark energy printed yet, that there was a basic dark requirement to be met.

Buzz Saiyan I would assume that you probably just had some mistaken judges especially due to the fact you said you played in lower events. I think it’s that basic dark and metal did exist as a concept but just not a card. I meant the wording on cards back in the WOTC were often either mistranslated or confusing. That was probably one of those cases

@@natalieshampay214 The viablilty of the Dark pokemon are exactly my point as pretty much all are crazy powerful, but can only be fuelled by 4 energy cards from the deck. That should have been the drawback in my opinion, but Rainbow made them much more abusable for basically access to 4 more Dark energies.

Kingdras Genetic memory attack is amazing. Unfortunately the player failed to realzie when it is time to go and start attacking instead he was sitting on his Cleffas and eeked over and over again without accomplishing anything when he had some good opportunities for attacks. Playing Kingdra is all about the first attack not the Twister.

If you play Slowking, how is it meant to be like you pronounced it in Japan. The Pokemon power works only when Slowking is the active pokemon, but it is worthless! You play the Slowking how it is like the English translation or you bannend it from tournament. Slowking, Sneasel, and Murkrow is a killer combo! If it went well, I never lost to anyone! NO more training cards accept you! But, I did Google translate it: Slowking needs to be the active Pokemon, so Slowking in useless after all....... 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Let me use it incorrectly, only the English version! 😂😂😂😂😂
