Josh tatofi’s father is also a great artist. His father played bass/guitar for years in a popular band called “Kapena” one of hawai’i #1 group of all time greats. “Fiji” is also another hawai’i all time great artist as well, lives in Kahuku the same city as Iam Tongi.. Josh Tatofi, a Grammy-nominated and multiple Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award-winner(Hawaiʻiʻs music awards) has been called the Polynesian Luther Vandross (Heʻs born and raised in Hawaiʻi but of Tongan descent.) Whoever gave you this song request just put me on a new jam. Can’t believe I haven’t heard of this, beautifully done. You should check out Maoli - Mercy when you get the chance. Back story: I lost my Pops February 1st, 2021 and three months later, I lost my older brother on May 6th, 2021. One of the songs he would always play would be Mercy by Maoli. Now, when we listen to it, it’s emotional for us bc of the remembrance of my brother, however, it’s totally a different meaning to it. It’s more so when the chorus comes in and you just sing tf out of it that gets you in the feels.
