Saw a video on the drawer fridges a while back, old mate drilled holes in the bottom of the drawer, and it appeared to improve the circulation, which improved the efficiency on his tests. Haven't seen anyone put a computer fan in on of these yet, like they're doing to the uprights.

That's an interesting mod with the drilled holes. I have noticed similar improvements with ventilation in other setups too. Adding a computer fan sounds like a great idea to improve circulation even more. I haven't seen anyone try it on drawer fridges, but it might be worth experimenting with. Thanks for sharing.Appreciate the tip and thanks for watching 👍🍻

Thanks Dino. Very informative review mate. I would guess that a small computer fan in the fridge would help even temperatures out. I wonder if the insulation of the unit could do with thicker foam.

Cheers Ben . I forgot to mention there is a small fan located inside the compressor cover but I will be using a usb fan also when I actually put this in the van . Thanks for watching 👍🍻

Hey Dino I’m very late with my comments mate but thanks again as always mate. I’m actually thinking of going away from a swag setup and creating a sleeping setup in the back of the cruiser which would mean I need to change my fridge from the open top to a drawer fridge. This looks like a great bit of kit mate. Would love to see a review on 6-12 months on how you find it Cheers

After watching your review Dino. As a freezer , varying temps would be a worry. As a fridge is an excellent product. Cheers Roberto

That’s a bummer mate . But I guess you gotta look at the rough corrugated roads you travel on . You might have to stick with the trusty Engel . My 20 litre is still going strong 💪 and been a fantastic fridge for the travelling I do . Hope you and sigi are doing well and travel safe 👍🍻

Great video as always. What caught my eye was that acoustic meter that you used. Does that record noise at a certain location over a week period???? Mike

G’day Mike . It’s just an app for the iPad called ‘decibel x’ it just measures sound volumes in your surroundings . Hope all has been well mate and thanks for watching 👍🍻

I have the 30L model as a second drinks fridge (cans only). As I have it mounted inside a 4x4 ute tub canopy facing one of the side gull wing windows I fitted one of those stick on plastic/rubber toddler/kiddie proof door latches as in the type to give some protection from young kids opening the fridge or freezer door. I did this because i did not have faith in the kings door latch not breaking under rough off-road conditions and flying open and shattering the side window. Considering the way you have mounted the 60L in your van I would consider doing the same. Under extreme braking that fridge draw could break the catch and fly forward especially with a lot of weight in it.

Cheers mate thanks for the tip . Will keep this in mind when I finally mount the fridge . Thanks for watching 👍🍻

As a drinks fridge it should be fine, but a bit heavy on power draw. I have the 30ltr model, it sits on -8C for the last few months occasionally opened for a beer, it might slightly ice up some water bottles at this setting but would take a few days to do so, this would indicate that it is only getting down to -1C or -2C maybe. Good for drinks fridge only, virtually no freezing capacity & uses around 30A-35A daily. It appears you only have about 19.4 ltr currently in there, thats a long way off 60 ltrs or am I missing something here? I also have a LG 65ltr upright from RTM & I don’t think I would recommend it for a canopy setup as it has trouble keeping a reasonable temp for drinks, the digital thermo readouts are way out of whack on both these fridges. The freezer section can get to -15C in good cool conditions occasionally overnight, but generally more like -5C at best and I suspect if in Cairns it would struggle to go into any negative temp.

How bout moving the 3ltr bottles to the outside off freezer, put small bottle in middle, maybe the 3lrs are blocking cool air. Just saying. Thanks for sharing 👍😎

Hi Robbie . Yeah fair call for sure 👍 Perhaps could try doing that but I wouldn’t trust putting in ice cream in this as a freezer with the risk of it melting . I’m going to have a separate freezer also with this fridge. Hope all been well mate 👍🍻

I owned the 30l version for period of time- it has same compressor as the 60l version ( perhaps with more refrigerant, but same compressor)- I agree with you: 1) it does not work well as a freezer, if at all; 2) it consumes a fair amount of power compared to mine 40l evakool drawer and 20l oztrail drawer fridge - it consumes a tag more power than evakool even 10l less; obviously all drawer fridges compares terribly with traditional chest fridge; The thin insulation and the lack of 100% seal around the door and the smallish compressor are the Achilles heel of the 30l and the 60l must be worse. I would look at the 40l evakool or 20l brass monkey/ oztrail/ dometic (20l ver only) if you are keen on drawer fridges and still want reasonable efficiency
