If we did not attend, we would turn on the appliance radio to listen in to the job. Sweep and mop the appliance room floor to get rid of slip hazards. Front doors shut, crack open one rear appliance room door so return crew have easy entry. Get catering stuff ready if required, check spare BA cylinders and cradles if required. Ensure showers, etc are ready. Keep a look out for any senior officer looking to get to the job. We would undertake hose maintenance. Or floor buffing if during work time. Do not get caught watching TV or playing snooker by a boss Bad juju!!

Hi John You have an amazing collection of firefighter videos it's been so interesting to see all the difference videos Looking for a video that might have been one of your ones ? It was a video where a pump like a Bedford TK or Dennis had crashed and had to be rescued by a heavy rescue vehicle From the fire service I was wondering if it was your video I can't seem to find the video now . Best Andrew

Andrew Diack Hi Andrew. Thank you for your comments. That wouldn’t be one of my videos. The only crashed one I have is the Outwell one which is on my channel but this was after it had been recovered to our HQ.

Interesting on the use of a plain car (Red beemer) with covert lights! Why have they gone away from liveried cars? Nice motor though :-)
@johnlinden91064 жыл бұрын
stevekiel82 we have a mixture of lease cars and provided cars so the unmarked ones are partially paid for by the leaseholder so they can also be used for private use where as they marked up ones are for work use only. We have a mixture at the station.

@@johnlinden9106 Ah right makes sense mate! I only enquired as I've been known to drive plain cars with covert lights in the past and that looked like a typical set up :-) Thanks for the reply and more importantly stay safe out there

Had many happy car washes with Rigel and the team at Kings Lynn and Norfolk as with all crews do a brilliant job as always "may all your shouts be Safe ones"

Sirens are truly awful. Nothing as nice as a proper two tone. That’s for sure

Landie Man two tone air horn like the Netherlands is the best.

South West 999 Videos not really considering we have to jump crew the ALP and get one of the crews out of the 2nd floor of the BA chamber across the yard de-rigged and onto the truck.

@@johnlinden9106 Glad you replied with this because that makes more sense now. I was with South West 999 Videos that it all seemed a bit... well, casual. Sometimes it's good to pin that bit of info when you upload, otherwise joe public will wonder where the urgency is. Just a thought. From an ex-FF and brother OOT FBU member. Good luck for the future.

Does England have volunteer fire departments like the U.S.? Or are they all career? 70% of U.S. fire departments are staffed by volunteers - was just curious if it was similar in England?

We have what are called Retained, they get paid to be on call but travel from their other jobs or home when there is an incident

They do but they have to go to the station unlike the usa where every1 has blues/reds and their car and turn up. So they dont have people standing around
