Nice saw Bryan. I have a 380 I'll be digging into and hopefully getting running. Nice to see the old saws.

Any idea where I could find a needle and seat for mine. Having trouble getting fuel
@mistermacgray Жыл бұрын
I'm told there are walbro kits that will work but haven't confirmed that. Fueling issue would be more not pumping due to diaphragm being hardened, clogged fuel filter on the end of the line.
@zdunkle9070 Жыл бұрын
@@mistermacgray I already replaced the diaphragm. And filter is currently off. Reason I was the thinking the need is it seem like it’s getting stuck down. Have to pry it out. I totally removed the needle and got it to run obviously it eventually flooded itself out but that’s what led me to believe that was my problem. Am I going about figuring out the issue the wrong way?
@mistermacgray Жыл бұрын
@ZDunkle of the needle is getting stuck then it's molded itself to the seat and will continue to give issues. I've seen where guys have polished the brass seats with a Q tip in a drill with abrasive type tooth paste to help clean the seat too bit as for the rubber, not much I knkw of that can be done. This is why I convert to a tilly carb, done a few 09p carb swaps with success, I have a video of me doing it to a 797 and pretty much the same process as doing to a 440

Shes a beauty. Hard to find them anymore in that great of shape. I posted a couple of mine on FB Hoppers channel. 450 and a 350. Not fast but got the torque.

Nice video Bryan. I have a 440 but I need to know a good place to get parts. Can you help me. I need the whole rope pull assembly including the pully and tension spring. Thanks for any help.
@mistermacgray Жыл бұрын
Ebay, parts saws, facebook groups (McCulloch chainsaws north America is one group) are places to get parts or find out about people selling them.

I can’t help you with the 440 my dad said he started 2 years after that saw was made

My 450 has a flatback with a good primer on it, would trade the carb and primer to you for a good tillotson for my 450

Unfortunately finding a tilly I need isn't easy or cheap these days.

that is a nice saw - wow I will ask you: I have noticed you hold out on the start rope before shutting your macs off. can you tell me why? Im sure others have asked this question many times before. But Id like to know if this is something I ought to be doing? I just shut my 81 off. thank you
@mistermacgray2 жыл бұрын
I have a video perfectly explaining why you should pull the rope out on shut down. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gajYeZ9jf9N6pKs

@@mistermacgray WOW thank you. yeah the rope on mine tended to dangle. And I saw it when it "sometimes" got pulled in on a shut down. my pop had more than a few starters fail [came apart] on his in the woods [we never knew the recommend to hold the rope out] thank you so much for letting me know why you do that. its a good idea and I will do my best to do it right like you showed me :)

Hey brian i got a 440 the other day. It need the starter rope. I dont know if it turns over yet. What size rope is needed and is it like a regular replacement? I also for a a Mac 15. It turns over over and has compression. I haven't tryed to fire it yet. Nice saw tho!
@mistermacgrayАй бұрын
@@Mr2eyedjack i use the Stens brand #5 rope on all of my saws. This saw looked great until the garage fire two weeks ago, I lost 95% of the collection. This saw did survive but will jeed a paint job and a few other things to get it going again.
@Mr2eyedjackАй бұрын
@mistermacgray oh man, sorry to hear about the fire. I'll look for some rope. Thanks for your response

Looks almost identical to my 450 l, except the starter is on the wrong side and my 450 doesn’t have an auto oiler
@mistermacgray2 жыл бұрын
A 450 is also a front fuel tank saw vs this is a top fuel tank. The 450 is more related to the 250 type saws.
