Songs like these...where every word has weight and speaks of reality or explores philosophical concepts .... why do they loose to the likes of "i kissed a girl and liked it" or *insert some shitty miley cyrus song or jb or drake or any number of r&b 'artist' ? why

Oh no definitely I agree with your point of view...hell even I listen to some that I mention, but it's more of like a guilty pleasure, a one time thing I'd do for a laugh or out of curiousity. My lament is about why are they so disproportionately more popular than this type of music. It doesn't take more than one listen of those nonsence to detect their toxicity ....While these I can see being listened on a somewhat more regular basis, and being promoted on social and other media

The paradox also extends to the economic realm, where I can see one spending money to buy these records on cd or whatever...but the other type...The time spent listening to them is already a waste, much less spending money on them
