After my last vlog i decided to head to Kings Wood to capture sunrise over the carpet of blue bells, well that was the plan, sadly i picked the worst morning for the last fortnight and so no sunrise, but did i get an image , let me know in the comments if you liked or dis liked any of the images i managed to capture.

Beautiful environment. We have to go to Brussels to see these beautiful hyacinths. Went there two weeks ago. The sweet smell of these plants comes to the fore again when watching this video.

What a stunning location albeit without the sun breaking through Lee. Focus stacking definitely provided the better shot imo and despite the conditions you still managed some great images 👍🏻

Unlucky that the early start didn't pay off with a stunning sunrise. Nice images though Lee and a great vlog.

It's an interesting difference to show Lee, the difference between the focus stacked image and the non-focus stacked. Going back and forth between the two and dismissing the differences in the processing, I think I prefer the second shot. On the first, my eye was lingering on that near root. So much detail in the foreground of the first shot and it is fab. But in the second I'm seeing that detail in the tree more without the distraction of the detail in the foreground, if you get what I mean. As you very quite rightly said, depends what you are wanting to achieve with the image; no right or wrong answer at all really (as with the vast majority of photography).

Thanks Dave , nice to hear what others are thinking , I not sure of the two which I prefer just thought it was interesting to see the difference, thanks for watching mate .

Love the image at 5:00 Lee - the lead in works great. I prefer the stacked version. Also really like the one at 8:04. Shame you didn't get the sun coming in. I'm heading out to do some woodland tomorrow, but I think I'm going to get cloud too. Just how it goes sometimes. 😊

Them trees are amazing looking. It’s very different at 6am than 6pm when your in the forest. The sounds can be fantastic. What an image to start of with. I do like the focus stacking better. I do love how you edit the images. I would say they look amazing printed big. Great video.

Thanks Paul appreciate it, the processing is a bit of orton effect in the highlight areas using luminosity masking, a technique i recently picked up from a Nick Page tutorial . Thanks for the comment, take care mate

Love that early morning bird song although I must admit these days I hear it from the bedroom rather than out n about..lol. What a cracking location and to be honest sometimes over cast condtions are as good sometimes as bright highlights burning stuff out.... I was so glad when you showed the b roll of that tree that you decided to photograph it - corking tree. I had to laugh aty the pregnant pause before you showed the image.. had me smiling. Lovely image with just enough of the bluebells in the background to give added interest. The image that is focus stacked was my preference but I think thats a mixture of the scne and the processing - as you say there is no right or wrong. Since shooting with the R I find dof is very narrow on images, something I didnt notice too much when I shot with the 5D3 beofre I started switching cameras n systems. Wow, the carpet of bluebells on the b roll at 8:45 was fabulous, not seen as many in my visits to find some. Nice watch Lee, think you can't say that by any means a failure even if you disdn't get the light your were hoping for. atb Al

Thanks Jeremy , wasent what i went for but got a couple i was pleased with in the end, thats the problem with going with pre conceived ideas, your disappointed when you dont get what you were after sometimes its best not to have to many expectations i guess. Thanks again mate take care

Too bad you didn't get the light you were hoping for but glad to see you soldier on. What a twisty root system on that first tree and a fabulous photo of it. Looks like you managed a bit of light shining through too! Good call on focus stacking that image. I am guilty of focus stacking a lot of my images, especially my non-seascape photos - I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting a sharp photo. The bluebells are looking lovely and really liked how they came out in the photo at 8:07 situated on those little rolling hills on either side of the tree. Great stuff as always mate. Really enjoyed another look at this woodland. Hope you are well, have a great weekend!

Thanks Paul, it's a big bit of woodland and this is one small section of it , great for bluebells each year. The shot you mentioned was probably my favourite shot of the day, hope you are well , take care mate.
