If you think your MBK wont bask, my 2023 hatchling escaped on christmas eve, and i found him tuesday 9th July 2024 directly outside my front door basking. And this was in the Southern British Climate 😂

@@ReptilesandResearch hey man thank you, been binging your stuff because it's so refreshing hearing different takes on these subjects. All my info for MBKs I got from you and they're as happy and healthy as can be. Also refreshing to see a British creator because then I know the products you use are accessible for me too. Amazing videos mate!

I have a mexican black kingsnake, I am in Florida us. We currently have her enclosure by a window, it doesn't get direct sunlight for more than a few hours, but would taking the background out of her tankt o lett her get more natural rays during the day while we're not home be beneficial?
@Roxy012664 ай бұрын
I think all reptiles (actually all animals) can benefit greatly by exposure to natural sunlight. Keep in mind that glass will filter out beneficial UV rays. Window screen will also filter out some UV but it’s better than nothing. The closest indoor lighting to mimic natural sunlight is high out T5 lighting, making sure it is a linear bulb. The coiled T5 bulbs do not put out nearly enough Uv that’s required. Overall, the best for reptiles is to be able to place them outside in natural sunlight (make sure their enclosure doesn’t get too hot though).

I need help! I live in a hot climate country where the temp is around 30-31c in daytime. And since I have an AC, at night I turn it on for the temp to be around 26-27c (78.8 °F-80.6 °F). Should I provide a heat lamp on one side of the enclosure anyway, despite the heat, for the day and night cycle? And what should I do about nighttime? (Mine is a Caifornia Kingsnake for reference)
@ReptilesandResearch4 ай бұрын
In your specific scenario id have the AC on 24/7 and have no heating at all. Sounds like a battle to keep it comfortable.
