tous les "oi" sont prononcés "oué", parce que c'est la prononciation correcte dans le française de cette époque (et même ma grand-mère parle comme ça :) ) Donc, Victoire n'échappe pas à la règle. Ils le prononcent très bien, en bon français ancien.La prononciation de "Oi" en Wa est non seulement récente, mais a longtemps été celle des paysans. Les nobles disaient bien "wé"

There are not words enough to say how this rendition is great and imaginative. The pronunciation is quite right and respectful of the french renaissance uses. Even for french people it is intelligible.Ten thousand times Bravo.

This gave me the shivers! That guy on the alto part was just splendid, holding his own against everyone else at the end (loser against the winners of the war). I also loved how the sped up the parts with the cannonshot onomatopoeia, which really gave that war effect.

These sing this so well that it makes it really difficult for anyone else to ever want to tackle it. The tempos are wonderful but faster than most can execute. Bravo king singers!! I like the comment further down that Jannequin would have bowed before such a performance which probably exceeded his wildest expectations.

@kingssingersgirl Sorry for the late reply! I never saw Stephen Connolly live so I can't compare them or put a number on Johnny per se, but put it this way: my family is incredibly musical, my parents sang madrigals, and I'm in a period music group, and within two pieces at the concert we saw we were turning to each other and mouthing 'Wow, that bass!'. I'm not sure I've ever heard a low voice providing such a strong foundation and being simultaneously so resonant. Very impressive indeed!

@seamusfinnigan2000 they've clearly just prepared the slightly odd major perfect cadence at 4:02 and made the triad major rather than minor. Could be a print error or typo, or it could be a deliberate change in the harmony... however it hardly sounds like a mistake to those of us who've not heard it before, so thanks for pointing that out and making me listen out for it!

+Mariantonia De Lemos Lagnier E tem mais, desde que conheci esta obra maravilhosa através deste mesmo video, eu me apaixonei pela audacia de Clement Janequin e o grande presente dada a França e ao mundo após uma batalha real mas não tão épica como outras. Ele trouxe pela 1°x a imitação de sons de coisas como passadas de pés, tiros de canhões, gritos de soldados enfim... traduziu o terror de uma guerra numa obra musical e sem trazer tristeza aos ouvintes. Isso tudo não seria nada sem a capacidade celestial destes rapazes de superar as expectativas do proprio compositor se vivo estivesse! Viva a verdadeira musica.

@frenchiecocorico1 Yes, it's in French, but it's an ancient French, and they have a british accent. It's intelligible, but, for French people it's hard to understand. Sorry for my bad English but I'm French and I don't speak English well (It's my favourite subject at school, so, I'm learning :D)

@red6352 Not at all, The last words must be pronounced "Bei Gott" because the Marignan battle (Milan suburb, Italy) occured between french king François the first army and Austria Emperor Charles the fifth army including german soldiers (reîtres). In this polyphonic song there were those german soldiers declaring the defeat with the sentence "tout est ferlore bei Gott"

@akacentimetre I must say Johnny is a very good bass singer from what I hear on YT, but I have to admit that Stephen was slightly better (also compared to YT vids. Never heard Johnny live, so it would be unfair to base my opinion between live singing and YT). Maybe it's because Stephen was older, and often at higher age male voices will go lower (not always of course, like Davd ;)) and/or the quality gets better. But Johnny is a worthy succesor to Stephen. Can't wait to see him perform live.
