This is one of my favorite KT songs. Even as a teenager I appreciated its poignancy and pathos and every now and then the song finds its way into my mind. These guys were terrific.

I was first introduced to these songs with George Grove and Roger Gambill when I purchased this concert on Laser Disc. Such a sad day when Roger died unexpectedly at such a young age.

The arrangment has not changed since circa 1960 when John Stewart and John Phillips wrote it. And perhaps they sound close to the real Trio because Bob Shane, an original member, is standing in the middle and singing the first verse. "Sing you a song, sing it soft and low.....".

For those who don't know, Bob Shane (center) was an original KT member. Other than Bob, George Grove (our left) was in the group longer than anyone other than Bob, though their hit record days had passed long before. Roger Gambill (our right) had an absolutely beautiful voice that is rarely found anywhere. He passed away soon after this was made.

Roger's daughter said he loved to sing just to sing and passed away singing. she still has his wonderful guitar although this version is a little slower then the orgional

Shame they never recorded and released "Lovers." At that point of their career, they seemed stuck on re-recording material they'd done before- and then they let a gem like this get by!

This configuration released "Aspen Gold" and "Lookin' For The Sunshine"-both full of new material. They did not release "Lovers", but did release "Cortelia Clark".

​@@joshuafuller9898 Yes, I had both those albums. Roger often made the best contributions. He was a huge loss.But the LOOKING FOR THE SUNSHINE album still had a couple of remakes.

My point is, I guess, this is the real Trio, although it's not the most famous lineup.

jennifur sun they made 23 albums! Most show up on Ebay. Just completed my collection with the rare DECCA albums! The original 3 KT recorded for Capital Records.

Yes, they had an album titled "Aspen Gold", which had a beautiful rendition of 'Early morning rain'.
