What I love about these old steamers is that they were so beautifully built. All the machinery is British made and the machines that built the machinery are British made. We can't boast that anymore. Sadly.

I saw this one from Waverley when it visited; they really put on a show with billowing smoke and the wheels really thrashing round in the water! Very impressive.

Lovely little boat! A good time to see it is the 'Paddle Steamer Parade' this is in October when Waverley visits the Medway and the two boats travel down the Medway together. Medway Queen is really flat out on these occasions, and the black smoke from its funnel was awesome.
