WOW. The only thing I was iffy on with the GH5s was the color science. Now we have this at 4K 60fps, 26K ISO, and much better battery life. This is a game changer camera. At only $1,200! Too excited

It's a full 4/3 sensor.. It's actually a little wider than the gh5s. When I read the specs, my jaw dropped. If the camera operates well and has as good IQ as the other Black Magic stuff, this is a game changer of a camera. I've heard a few quality issues with BM as well. I'll probably upgrade (from the 5 year old GH4 :D )

I think it's pretty fascinating that Blackmagic is able to give us such a specialised camera with all these amazing video features for such an affordable price. How do they do it when not even the big players like Panasonic and Sony don't seem to be able to? I know Blackmagic is known to have problems at launch but still this is pretty amazing if they can deliver.

I think it’s cause they have so much R&D dealing with codecs and color science. It’s probably pretty easy for them and they are making money in lots of other ways.

That's pretty sick. If it had a flip screen and tracking auto-focus, I might jump on it but without those features you are really dead in the water if you are filming without a camera man. really good price though. For the right application it would be a no-brainer.

The GH5 and GH5S are "workhorse" cameras. The Blackmagic pocket cameras are great but they have all had issues that make them less reliable. I would be a bit nervious to use this as a main cameras at a wedding. But we'll see

Steve Holt that’s not true. I’ve been using blackmagic since 2013. Camera after camera, I never had issues. The look is different. Might not be the best for weddings or commercials. But for indie films and music video with the slow mo now. It’s going to be the best

The sensor size is M4/3 Micro four thirds same as the GH5 and GH5S. This will be the camera of 2018, if it lives up to the expectations all will can do is wait and see when it is available in September. All the best.

It's using the 4th generation of Blackmagic Design's color science, so it should be the same as in the current URSA cameras.

Pocket color science is not really that good. It looked good because when you grade it, it has a very filmic teal-orange looking film style. But in terms of color accuracy, BMPCC and BMCC have pretty bad color science relative to the Blackmagic Ursa Mini 4.6k.

Without articulating screen there is no way to trust the AF button. Sure.. use an external monitor... but then it sorta defeats the purpose of the front hand holding design for on-the-go.... It is actually plastic. It's polycarbonate with carbon fiber reinforcement. I would say that the carbon fiber is more of a marketing gimmick than anything, glass fiber works just as well and is much cheaper.

My points 1. Not having a real autofocus, is the BM Pocket really an option for bloggers? 2. How good is the build in mic? It seems to be placed much better than in other cameras - but distance is distance ... 3. How good is the internal audio recording system? Can it match with a Zoom H6? Most of the Videographer have already an existing audio system. 4. The battery "could" last for 60min ... Imagine there is a phantom power mic, an HDMI Monitor, an external HD connected, filming in 4k/60fps .... 10min? 5. What is the advantage of Davinci Resolve? I use Premiere, I´m happy with it and learning a new software takes too much time. 6, Having already a Sony a7iii or a Canon 80D / 5D ... it is worth the investment? Enthusiasm kills good sense.

Ok, it is amazing, but I am curious about cooling - can you ask them how it works, fan noise levels and especially where exactly the cooling air goes through? I can see holes at the bottom and top, so yes sucks the air from bottom and dissipates at the top, but is it going in front or behind the sensor? What about dusty environments? Are there any filters at the bottom to eliminate debri going to the body? Is it weather proof? With these holes I don’t think so. Thanks
