Fellow Legends, welcome! Today we dive into another epic Bricky video, this time about HERESY! And by Heresy, I of-course mean Warhammer: BOLTGUN. This game brings a really neat aesthetic to the table and I really like the appeal and price-point of this game. If you’re interested in 40k, the three introductory videos bricky made are a good start. Every human faction (every faction part1), every xenos faction (every faction part2), and every space marine legion.

That does have to come with a warning that everything is says is heavily summarized and partially written for comedic purposes even if it introduces a bit of inaccuracy and GW changes their lore like the average person changes their shirt and they have no problem bringing in inaccurate lore at any given time without explaining how that works. They're good videos, but those caveats have to be said. Surface level dives into 40k lore are tricky at best, and he's trying to cover an ocean with slightly less than an hour and fifty minutes of talking.

There is a lore thing called "Armor of Contempt", where you just hate the enemy so much that you become incorruptible because of it. Are we sure that's not a Black Templar we're playing as?

The one thing Bricky gets wrong is that the melee IS useful in lategame- only instead of "hehoo chainsword go brrrrr" it's more of a "i need to get there fast- oh look! a small heretic! *Z O O M* " and for making sure champions and pink horrors can't use their after-death effects.

The problem with melee range not being viable at higher difficulties is that your chainsword attack is one of your major forms of mobility. It's basically your dash and is the fastest way to move around the arena.

Remember how in serious sam games, half the secrets are tiny 1 hp pickups and half of that half are actually just traps for more enemies. Def make the secrets worth it lol

Ive seen people recomend the "every faction explained" to get into 40K I will also recomend "If the Emperor Had a Text to Speech Device" as a surprisingly primer for 40K

Yeah I thought Boltgun was really fun, but by a bit past the halfway point I was kinda tired of it. The game is fast-paced and exciting though, definitely worth playing a bit of. Also I hated the bosses, they're just huge bullet sponges. I guess it makes sense that they're tough, because... Lords of Change... But these boss fights quickly devolve to shooting it for a couple years from out of a corner because you have to stay out of the eyesight of Lords of Change when they use their "if you're not hiding behind a wall you fucking die" attack.

I mean if anything I would expect a Lord of Change bossfight be more about "its hard to even hit the damn thing" than just being a bullet sponge. Illusions and all that. Although mechanics like that could easily be even more frustrating so I can't be too angry about that approach.

So to explain why a lord of change is so unbelievable for our little ultramarine to reasonably kill 6 of. For most normal humans, being on the same continent as a lord of change would drive you mad, now space marines are a bit more resistant to madness... sometimes. But a LoC is also one of the stronger greater daemons because its got HEAPS of magic to throw at you. And its essentially immortal

I'd say a 40k game where melee is not a viable option should be considered bad game design. Its 40k. That's what I consider the important part; does forcing a specific style of gameplay fit with the lore, world design, and overall game design? If its an RPG and the melee classes are non viable on hard difficulty why are they there in the first place? That's an entire set of classes and all the dev time involved wasted. Obviously this doesn't hold for when players are intentionally doing something stupid for the challenge, but rather when the game or lore introduces a style of gameplay and then makes it so you can't use it unless you play on easy because its so badly made.

He is right a out the Lord of Change and Great Unclean One. These are greater daemons, meaning they are planetary scale threats. They are the biggest daemons a chaos gid has to throw at enemies. In Lovecraft terms, greater daemons are like Cthulhu and the major chaos gods are Azathoth itself. And there are FOUR of them.

Weird.. i had no problems with barrels except maybe 1 or 2 times, i could use them more on the enemy, but i think i played normal maybe hard.. but im half way through with it i think lol..
