Hey man, you should take a look at the abandoned mechanics institute. Dead opposite of the tunnel leading to the outlet centre, you do need to be careful as some areas are at high risk of collapse but these can be avoided. There is also the remains of a flat up there too that was quite high market.

This brings back so many memories! Worked there for around 4 years but it was the best job I ever had. Loved working there. Such a shame it is being used for storage. It would have been nice to see it turned into another retail store 🙃

Having worked in Debenhams Topshop Dorothy Perkins and M&Co you could say i have no luck in retail 🤣 , Debenhams is the job i miss most I worked in homewear until moving to men’s clothing which was a task in and of itself but god seeing Debenhams buildings in an abandoned state breaks my heart

I remember eating in that restaurant not long ago, was looking at the view from the window. Really eerie seeing it like that. I'm surprised as well it still has all the lights on?

The stockroom you went into was for Oxford Debenhams, the entrance to the Swindon side one was in the former home/clearance department. I used to work in the stock movement department & left a year before it closed.

@HeartstopperguyWMAO743 The Swindon Debenhams had a large area for a stockroom divided into two halves. The Oxford Debenhams store had an agreement with the Swindon store to look after their excess stock. I worked in stock movement, & also at times drove the stock to Oxford & back with the cages & totes they requested. Hence why it was Oxford Debenhams & Swindon Debenhams.

My first ever job was here. Was almost 10 years ago now I think. I was only a Christmas temp, but I hated it 😂 wasn't the best place to work tbh. Can't say I have one good memory of working there 😂😂
