I think the "restoration area" is actually a Water physics test. You can see the water splashing sprites when you're driving on it. The vehicle slightly bobs up and down as if it was on water also.

Japanese translations, courtesy of Jisho.org!: (I've only just started learning Japanese, so I could be wrong about any and all of the following transcriptions and translations. Take this comment with a grain of salt.) かべ = kabe. A wall, barrier, or obstacle. ゆか = yuka. The floor. ダッシュ = dasshu. Literally the English word "dash" written in katakana. 箱エリア = hako eria. "hako" means "box" and "eria" is just "area" written in katakana, so this is literally "box area." リングチェック H = ringu chekku H. Literally "ring check" written in katakana followed by the letter H. エリアライト補完 = eria raito hokan. -2:57, 6:16- "area light" written in katakana followed by -a kanji that I can't make out. The second kanji seems to speak of the end or conclusion of something, so this might be the finish line box.- "hokan," which means complementation, supplementation, or completion. 反発壁 = hanpatsu kabe. "hanpatsu" here probably means opposition, resistance, rebounding, or repulsion. "kabe" is the same as before; it means "wall." So dice's translation seems pretty accurate. -自田移動- 自由移動 = -jitaidou?- jiyuu idou. -From what I gather, it means something like "movement as if through a rice field." Rice fields are inevitably muddy, so it sounds like it's supposed to slow you down.- "jiyuu" means "freedom" or "liberty" and "idou" means movement, so this is literally free movement. スーパージャンプ = suupaa janpu. Literally "super jump" written in katakana. スーパージャンプ予告 = suupaa janpu yokoku. "super jump" followed by "advance notice, previous note, or preliminary announcement." A heads-up that there's about to be a super jump? ローカル死亡 = rookaru shibou. "rookaru" is "local" written in katakana, and "shibou" is death or mortality. So the box's name is appropriate; it's a death barrier. ワープゲート = waapu geeto. "Warp gate" in katakana. ワープ出口 = waapu deguchi. "deguchi" means "exit" or "gateway," so this is apparently the far end of a warp gate. 反響? (The box squashes the texture, so this one is really hard to read.) = hankyou. Echo or reverberation. -遮 [?] 2.- 遮蔽 2 = shahei 2. -5:41--, --5:54-- I can't find the second kanji in --Jisho.org-- for some reason. Could be that I'm misreading the radicals. The first kanji has connotations of interception, interruption, or obstruction.- This means "screen, shielding, or reverse clipping." Apparently, this is a barrier or a shield of some type. No idea why it's followed by a 2. There were several other textures in the video that I couldn't even begin to read, so this is by no means an exhaustive list. Also, any help with the kanji that I couldn't read would be very welcome and appreciated!
@chamap77237 жыл бұрын
エリアライト?完 is エリアライト補完 -> Area Light Supplementation not 自田移動. it's 自由移動 - Jiyuu Idou, literally "free movement". 遮? -> 遮蔽 Shahei, which means "cover" or "shielding"

The "rebound wall" stage feature is used in a certain part of City Trial's underground, serving as a one-way exit from beneath the northern volcano. The green rail at 5:56 looks to have a water effect on it, reminding me of the water section at the end of Celestial Valley

@AGwolf20977 жыл бұрын
Man, Kirby's Air Ride was such a great game... it's so simple on the surface but I'd argue it's as demanding and dynamic as F-Zero or any other fantasy racer. The only person I've ever known who actually understood how to play the game properly and appreciated its content and challenges was a girl I was dating at the time. We spent endless hours doing the City Trial and upgrading our ships for all the different objectives, we focused on the challenge grid to unlock stuff, and everything we did was deliberate, we weren't just fumbling around mindlessly like so many other people I've tried to show the game to... it was one of the most fun multiplayer experiences I've ever had. None of my other friends over the years ever really got the hang of how to play it, so half the fun of the game is lost :( I'll have to check out this debug menu sometime

Did GameCube dev units have more memory than retail units?

It's either that, or the devs used level designer software on their computers instead of on GameCube hardware when they were trying and using this map, before the game was ported to the actual console.

I wish more games now-a-days had debug modes that could be accessed easily in-game. Something like the original 2-D Sonic games, which had debug modes you could easily access with secret codes that used controller inputs on the title screen and number combinations in the sound test. It allowed you to place enemies and other level elements in the level. I feel secret Debug Modes are a nice inclusion to any game for the fans to play around with.
