I swear, they do like 20% damage in multiplayer. In single, you can destroy those mirrors in one hit of the master sword. Emile hit them with the master sword 3 times and it kept going.

2 things: 1. Dark Mind isn't related to Nightmare. He's implied to be the Mirror World counterpart to Zero from Dreamland 3 and 64 (or just Dark Matter in general) 2. Shadow Kirby reappears as the final boss of Kirby Fighters DX, a spinoff based on a minigame from Triple Deluxe. He's also one of the background easter eggs in Star Allies (in Jambandra Base) ...I know way too much about this series. Anyway, loved the LP!

I said it last part he came up, but I love the remixes of dark mind final phase from clash deluxe and star allies The thing is, dark mind's first phases are meant to go down pretty quickly normally so it doesn't feel TOO long (though it's still probably the longest pre modern kirby era final boss counting dark meta Knight) Given sakurai apparently had minor involvement in amazing mirror, I wonder if the shoot up em phase credits inspired classic's ending in ultimate? Dark mind is a mirror world counterpart of Nightmare with his wizard appearance, while his final form is a bit of nightmare power orb but more so a reference to Zero. Shadow Kirby actually has had two later appearnces. Shadow Kirby appears in triple deluxe'a side mode (though redesigned) and he has a cameo in star allies on map 3

Final thoughts: Not sure if I should post this with there still being more to go, but I may as well do it here. Copy and paste it into the bonus episode if it’s more appropriate there. This was a hard LP to watch on several fronts. Think it’s the first one I actively dislike which is a shame because I really like K&AM and was excited to see the Guys finally play it. Let’s talk about what did work or what I liked: the back and forth banter for the most part was alright. I do like how this is the shortest LP on the channel and that even with their bumbling about they still made pretty good time based on How Long to Beat. There were a lot of good moments of gameplay and teamwork here and there. And that’s about where all the good things come to an end and unfortunately I don’t think it quite makes up for the failings of this LP in my book. The real big problem was the approach to this LP. I remember hearing on a stream (forget which) that for a while K&AM was on the table for discussion as a future TRG LP. The only real issue was how they’d go about recording it since for the only time in Kirby history so far players are not limited to the same screen space or even room, and they’re also not tethered to each other like with Halo (checkpoint warps) or Starlink (where you have a literal tether between your ships of I wanna say 5 meters) so they weren’t sure if they should just stick together or go their own ways. Evidently they decided to go with the latter as soon as they possibly could, and that’s where the LP fell apart. The lack of synergy when it came to teamwork, not really learning or purpose picking up patterns and constantly banging their heads against walls to try and figure things out, the flip-flop between just beating the game or clearing it, figuring out whose screen to watch for the action/progress, the long midboss/boss battles, Emile for 90% of the LP (though inexperience and delay can only cover so much. Yes his most played Kirby game is Epic Yarn and not much else outside of RtDL, but even Epic Yarn has tropes found in most Kirby games such as waiting for the enemy to provide ammo if you don’t have an ability or dodging and counterattacking bosses. Could’ve tried to apply what he learned from Epic Yarn but nope. There’s also the fact that yet again, he refuses to learn from his mistakes and instead finds something else to blame for his own failings and ineptitude. I feel like this is kind of a continuous regression with him from Super Metroid and SMB3 as far as blind LPs where he’s expected to do a decent amount of work go, where he wanted to replay them and do better at them) ...a lot of the problems I have with the LP is a result from their decision to split up. Three of the people playing are blind. Jon’s the only one who wasn’t and even then he had his own misconceptions that held him back like with how Mirras worked or misreading the Area 5 map when trying to get to Area 7, and a lot of these problems could’ve been solved if they had split into teams of two. That way one team will try to figure things out on their own while the other team will be Jon teaching a new player how to K&AM. Periodically they would switch so that Jon can impart new wisdom while the person previously with Jon could pass on what he learned to his new teammate. Sure, progress may possibly tank, but it’d be easier to watch, easier for them to coordinate, easier for them to survive. Maybe eventually they could split off into four but at least ensure that people know what they’re doing first rather than throwing them into the unknown and expect them to learn how to swim immediately, even in a series as simple in concept as Kirby. Not everyone can find swim as an option when thrown into a pool blindly and instead sink. Part of this issue does also lie in Jon I feel. It’s true that Jon did most of the heavy lifting, but he could’ve shared the load better if he had actually slowed down to help the others catch up and learn, yet it seems to me that part of him is unwilling to do that (see his attitude about Emile talking teamwork during the intermission area before Phase 4 Dark Mind). I find it ironic that he’s called the Dad of core TRG in this LP since if that’s the case, he was kind of an absentee dad for the most part, not checking up on his “kids” to see how they’re doing outside of the occasional “you OK there?” Like take Emile’s first Wiz fight. He hears Emile’s having trouble with this “Wiz” character that Jon doesn’t seem to recognize at the time as a boss, likely because he hadn’t played K&AM in its entirety in a while. A simple screen look could have told him everything, but Jon instead chose to focus on what he was doing and let Emile fend for himself, which led to part of the mess Emile made with Area 7. He doesn’t exactly have to be a helicopter parent, but the Guys also aren’t baby birds. They won’t exactly learn to fly the moment they’re forcibly pushed out of the nest, and Jon knew that, especially with Emile since he and Emile talked about how Emile has never played a traditional Kirby platformer outside of RtDL, yet he did nothing to actively alleviate that, taking on the brunt of the work himself while the rest made meager progress for the most part, occasionally making good progress on their own. Ultimately though, I do think that the more open nature of this Kirby game required them to do a bit more planning to make this LP more successful. I know that most of the time very little planning and preparation goes into these LPs in general, but for something like this where it’s a lot more open and not as easy to keep track of overall progress, especially if not all or none of the players are familiar with the subject matter, I think they can afford to do a bit more planning if it means making the LP a more enjoyable watch in general. I hope that the Guys learned from this experience in case they want to tackle any similar projects, though K&AM is a rather unique multiplayer specimen. Not many other multiplayer games quite like it.

I desired to play against them for fun and watch what they were doing as some is making me scream. The phone mechanics could be use a lot better and made it more enjoyable to watch. I try to watch all perspectives at one but I always lean back to Jon due to him being the only person to understand the game well. (Sorry if I went on a rant)

I thought it was weird how long the boss fights were taking them so I tested it out and it does seem like the bosses and mini-bosses have their health buffed for multiplayer.

What I'd like to see is a RunawayGuys Nuzlocke. Where each guy owns 2 pokemon in the party at any given time and the owner is the only person who makes decisions regarding moves and attacks for that pokemon.

at 5:06 that was a regular star. the power up they get was from enemies that can be turn into the power up. what jon was probably thinking was the colored stars from the first phase of dark mind. it sucks that he does not relies that yet.

And thus, Kirby forever remained split up into four quarters of his whole self. He never felt complete again. ...I’ve 100%ed this game at least a couple times, and I don’t think I’ve ever realized that Kirby never got put back together at the end. Or maybe that’s a 100% ending that I forgot about.

Ghostkid825 It’s never addressed how Kirby gets back together. I thought them waving was a 100% exclusive, but no, the only thing 100% unlocks is Boss Endurance.

Here's something very few people know about: When the MASTER sword ability is dropped or lost, it will NOT DISAPPEAR like a normal item. It will keep bouncing around until Kirby enters a room. Gaining another ability while MASTER is still bouncing around the screen DOES NOT GET RID OF MASTER!!! (I figured all of this out while I was playing my brother's 100% file.)

​@@Dayshade_ Hmm... Good point. That might either be a glitch (Jon inhaled it and got hit at the same time?) or Emile, Jon's inhale, or the mirrors killed it. Other than that, it shouldn't have disappeared. If you don't believe me, try it out yourself. Obtain the power-up, press SELECT or get hit by an enemy to drop the power-up, and see how long it remains on-screen. (Test with both MASTER and another power)

"Is Dark Mind the same as Nightmare?" Yes and no. Dark Mind is the mirror realm counterpart to Dark Matter. Though Dark Mind's original form is heavily based on Nightmare. Pretty sure Dark Mind was conceived as a combination of the two though.

I wonder what people thought of this game’s mechanic at the time of the game’s release. Personally, I believe that the idea of four players actually able to go anywhere they want could be *really* awesome and it just pains me to see the concept never really brought back for another attempt.

This LP encouraged me to play this game again. This time I 100%ed it for the first time! Not sure why my past self had trouble finding the last treasure I couldn't find back then: Emerald Spray Paint. Anyway, even though I'm bad at games in general, few moments in this LP (mostly from Emile, and Jon wasn't really a true dad) did made me mentally bang my head to a wall since the Kirby franchise is one of the franchises I love, which means, Emile, if you're ever interested you definitely should play more Kirby games.

actually shadow kirby appears in the background in star allies at the top of the 3rd level selection world. (The jamba base, he appears on a warp star in the background but you can only see him if your at the top of the level selection there.)

My overall thoughts on this project: This was very dense despite the episodes being fairly short. As for the guys. Jon carried everyone. Stephen was hilarious. Tim did whatever and just had fun. And Emile... You should definitely play more Kirby. The older games in particular offer challenge similar to this game, and the games past 64 are easier in more ways, but are a lot more fun. I enjoyed watching this let's play, and now I want to play the game for myself!

Short answer: yes Long answer: Correct because the smash ability returns as a challenge stage ability for kirby's dream collection, and can be used nearly anywhere as a full-fledged ability in planet robobot. Mirror world kirby appears as a boss in kirby fighters (subgame from triple deluxe) and is a selectable costume in kirby fighters Deluxe (although he does have a slight redesign there). In star allies, he can be seen flying over the highest point of the jambastion. As for dark mind, he appears in the free to play game team kirby clash deluxe as 'king d-mind', a combination of dedede and dark mind. On the topic of dark mind, many people believe that dark mind is the mirror world version of nightmare from kirby's adventure and it's remake, and zero from dreamland 3 Dark meta knight re-appears as a playable character in star allies, and appears as a boss in triple deluxe. You might think "why and how does dark meta knight appear in this game about overthrowing the monarchy of another civilisation?" And for that, we need to talk about L O R E.
