What replacement tyres (tires) are you thinking about? Do you think the Porsche N rating is important? I suppose in California you don’t need to worry about Winter! We have full sunshine here right now but there was a hard frost first thing this morning so extremes of temperatures. Tyres on mine are quite new from previous owner. Pirelli P Zero which many do not speak highly of - not sure I’m qualified to know the difference. Would love to try the Michelins ‘though. Logically speaking, if everything else on the car is set up well but the tyres are wrong then you’re only as good as the weakest link. Want to dive into the engine mount/suspension/chassis areas next; once these are dialled in perhaps it will be time for new rubber…still envious of your blue sky and the space you enjoy…

Just want to mention in your 1st attempt it was just understeering n eating up ur front tyres In d 2nd attempt only ur left rear tyres were spinning n smoking since you have an open rear differential

Thank you for the explanation Abe Moon. Makes sense to me. My 911 tire spinning days are over I think. :)

It's ok Tom. I think we all did some of that and rationalized the behavior. I'm with you.

This? In 911? With 295/30/19 tyres? Omg

There is no shame in having some fun with your 911. If you want to baby your car then buy a Ferrari.

As usual, I am out of step with a lot of the younger Porsche community. Have to say though, I would NEVER treat my 997 like that. Just put on new tires and a new clutch and I would like to get some life out of them. You must have a lot more $$ than I! I do like your car though!

I hear you. I’m in my fifties and should know better...but I don’t. These are old mismatched tires so I thought i might encourage their demise a little prematurely.

@@Kirbys911Heaven Well, in that case I guess some experimenting is in order. I know our cars can take some aggressive driving, I'm just old-school enough to know that quick starts and stops and hard cornering will wear parts quickly. I'm probably not the guy you want to invite to liven up your party!

@@aboyandhisdog you are invited to my party any day of the week. I think this will be my first and last tire burning session. I did feel a little guilty doing it.

@@Kirbys911Heaven I am on your side... in theory. I have to agree with Tom on this one. Mismatched or not, the last thing on those masterful engineers minds was can it do good donuts. Let’s leave that nonsense to the Americans. BTW you will be pleasantly amazed when you decide to replace your mismatched tires with a set of Michelin Pilot Sport’s. Take good care and leave them donuts to the idiots. Let’s drive🤘

@@aboyandhisdog I like your line of thinking. Yet, quick starts and stops and hard cornering are textbook Porsche 911. I do understand what you are saying though. It is hard on the vehicle. That’s why we don’t own a Toyota.
