My grandparents gave me Kirby's Adventure for Christmas when I was 6 years old. It was the first game I ever received as a gift and I've been a Kirby fan ever since. It was easy enough for me to get almost all the way to the end by myself, even at that age, and my older brother, who kindly let me play with all his games, would always help me out to fight the last couple of bosses the first few times I reached them.
@oziumshift Жыл бұрын
Kirby’s Adventure is an important game for me. Beating a game seemed like something mythical- like maybe I could do it when I was grown up or something. Beating Kirby as a kid blew my mind.
@Chicomite Жыл бұрын
These are my sentiments exactly, I felt dumb for not being able to complete a game as a kid. But I was just too young. I wasn't even an RPG fan, mostly platformers for me, but Super Mario RPG was the first one I had to beat, I got obsessed with that game. It was so unique from other RPGs I had played, I still recommend it as anyone's first RPG, regardless of age.

Would you believe my bro ACTUALLY wants us to re-buy the first Bubsy in THIS day and age!?!?! Needless to say, I do not approve. The first two pieces of music are actually really catchy while the stage design is GARBAGE from start to finish of the game, and if that's not bad enough once you reach the first boss (which will definitely be the moment you question WHY you actually paid cash for this mess) even the soundtrack falls apart from then on and nothing EVER got better in the series (except maybe "The Woolies Strike Back" a few years ago, but considering the price and the fact that it was the best installment in a frankly DREADFUL series that's obviously not saying much)...never again...

The first place I actually played Kirby's Adventure was actually at my Grandma's house: They had an NES for when the grandkids came over (at least to my knowledge that was why... maybe they were more into gaming than I thought) and they had it, 1943, and Cobra Triangle of all things...

For what it's worth, if someone is interested in playing First Samurai or its sequel, it recently got rereleased as the "Samurai Collection" from Qubyte on I think all of the current consoles. I have it on Switch, anyway. It's only so-so, but I do have a nostalgic fondness for old Amiga games.

I had Second Samurai for a short time and it was weird: You start in prehistoric age and fight monkeys and cavemen, first three levels set in prehistoric time and later game jumps into future where you fight terminator expies (blue metal skeletons with laser rifles) and other weird enemies. You can clearly see that game is originated from european computers of that time.

*Deedeedee* is also wrong. The correct pronunciation is *Dédédé* like its said in-game in...Kirby's Avalanche, I think it was. It's also said that way in the cartoon and Smash Brothers games...in Japan. But 4Kids messed it up-like they do with everything-when they made the English dub of the cartoon. And then Nintendo of America had the Smash Brothers announcer do an alternate take of _"King Dedede"_ using the mispronunciation...probably for "consistency"...even tho there was an equal representation of both pronunciations at that point, and it makes more sense to stick with their own games rather than a piece of side media handled by an outside company.

I played Nightmare in Dreamland back when it first released. Mostly due to the Kirby anime, which I still love to this day. That and Kirby 64 were the only Kirby games I've ever played at that point. When I got the Wii, I was reading through this pamphlet that came with the system and it was telling me about the virtual console. One of the pictures it used was a screenshot of Kirby's Adventure. I had played Nightmare in Dreamland so much, that I instantly recognized that particular level within the screenshot, but I wondered why it was all in 8-bit. And that's how I learned that I played the remake, before the original. Adventure was a bit harder than Nightmare though, but it was still fun.

Kirby's Dream Land GB is not a simple easy game. If you've only beaten regular mode you haven't beaten the game. Hard Mode is the real game. Beat hard mode and you get to see a really nice credits sequence that names every enemy in the game. And hard mode is way, way, way, way, way harder than regular mode.

Fun fact: the turtle mid-boss in "Kirby's Adventure" became so infamous that in the "Nightmare in Dream Land" remake for GBA they actually created Phan-Phan to replace the turtle who never appeared in another Kirby game again. Also the remake made all the mid-boss and boss sprites MUCH bigger which actually improved their difficulty since their attacks are now a lot harder to avoid. Also in case it wasn't obvious, Nintendo decided to use the release of "Nightmare in Dream Land" as a means to promote the show "Kirby: Right Back At Ya!" on the Fox Box at the time (man, that takes me back). This was even clear in the game's official artwork which practically matched the show's animation style (probably why the show re-purposed the Nightmare Wizard as eNeMeE for the primary antagonist...and yes that's how his name is officially spelled in the show).
