Like with Yoshi and most Kirby games, the real difficulty comes from completing it 100% Loved the original epic yarn

Yeah it can be hard to get a gold medal in some levels and even harder now to get all items since you have the devilish mode and you have to have finish the level with 5 heath in every level to get all the items

The idea that this game isn't hard always confused me. In order to complete each level with gold, you can't take hits or you lose gems. It's basically Sonic the Hedgehog where you have to avoid being hit to get to a bonus level, even though you are invincible as long as you still have one ring. If it isn't hard for you, you aren't playing the game right.

Its only hard for completionists. For average players who will only play the required main campaign its easy.

How does this compare with the difficulty of Yoshi's Wooly World on 3ds? I actually love the ultra easy laid back "mellow mode" of these types of games. I play a lot on the treadmill and just want something to relax with and not really have to worry about dying and starting over etc... pretty much the opposite of Celeste lol

Yeah you’re right that would have fixed the whole game. I took one look at this game and thought “golly gee this game would be all better if you could play as blue marshmallow instead of pink marshmallow”. The problem is absolutely not that they ripped out an essential part of the fun of the game by removing the two player mode, it’s that you can’t play as blue kirby!

Kirby's Epic Yarn is the best Kirby game, in my opinion. It's not only such a distinctive, inventive, innovational and beautiful game with such an amazing world, and the co-op was absolutely great on the Wii. I have so much nostalgia for this wonderful piece of art.

I wouldn’t call a 240p 2D re-release of a 10 year old Wii game that removes a mode that was an essential part of the fun of the game a good note to end on. It’s just depressing, especially knowing that most people won’t even notice this game come out so it’ll probably sell like garbage, just like that new mario and luigi game.

Epic Yarn was an amazing game, despite the lack of difficulty. I'm honestly not very happy with the changes... but that's just me.

That reoccurring enemy in the devilish mode seems like the main thing that would ruin the experience for me. Wonder if they could release an update that could let you toggle that enemy. I may still pick this up because I never played in on the Wii but I enjoy the soundtrack from what I've heard.

By the way: This is currently the only 3DS game published by Nintendo that has not come out yet. There are *no* other Nintendo games announced for the 3DS. And the only 3rd party 3DS game that we will get physically is Persona Q2.

Epic Yarn Wii and it’s “cousin” Woolly World are some of the best two player couch cooperative games ever. Worth buying a Wii U alone just to play. I haven’t bought the 3DS Epic Yarn, but I can’t imagine playing it solo

As a Kirby fan, I also don't feel bad skipping this one as it was not a Kirby game to begin with. In fact, I think the gameplay much better suited a Yoshi platformer so I'm glad they eventually made Yoshi's Woolly World (which I did play and love)

I've never understood the difficulty complaint with this game. Not every game needs to have challenging platforming, and I say that as a huge DKC fan. I love difficult platforming. But there's nothing wrong with a relaxing adventure without much challenge. There also _is_ challenge here for sure if you want 100%.

Bummer, only 4 stages in Dedede and Meta Knight's modes? I was expecting at least the same amount as the yarn friends' minigames. And Ravel Abilities essentially making both puzzles and Devilish Mode irrelevant? I couldn't decide between this game and the BiS remake as I already played the original versions, but now I know I'll definitely buy the latter.

Chuggaaconroy showed me how awesome the original is and I don’t think they needed to change the difficulty. The abilities didn’t need to be added. In fact a better Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn is just have the original game and include devilish mode as I feel it ups the difficulty just enough to warrant its existence.

I feel like it was worth mentioning the fact that the game does not play in 3D, despite the fact that that would have made the game stand out from the wii version. A lot of the problems with this game could have been easily solved by putting it on the switch. The 3DS has run it’s course. Nobody wants a 3DS anymore, as it is an obsolete console. I predicted from the moment they said that the 3DS could coexist with the switch that they would be proven wrong within the year, and would you look at that I was right.

If you have a wii or wiiU get it there for even less and a most likely better experience, else I'd say it's still worth the $40 on 3ds but it all depends on your taste in the end
