Unboxing And Homework!? A Brand New Pair Of Bespoke Shoes From Dominic Casey | Kirby Allison

It's always an exciting day at Kirby Allison whenever a brand new pair of shoes are sent, ready to be unboxed and this particularly special pair is from one of Kirby's favorite bespoke shoemakers Dominic Casey. Now not only did he send Kirby these amazing shoes he's also given Kirby some homework.
Dominic Casey has worked in London in the bespoke shoe trade for the past 35 years. Initially trained as an orthopedic shoemaker with James Taylor and Son. Dominic Casey worked as a freelancer making a wide variety of shoes, from ladies bespoke fashion wear for Georgina Goodman and George Deliss to long riding boots for Terry Moore at Foster’s and has spent the last 10 years shoemaking at George Cleverley traveling extensively throughout the USA.
Dominic Casey opened his own atelier this year in Mayfair, London and makes all the work himself in his workshop in Sussex concentrating on classic English styling and strong traditional last shapes and proportions.

Lovely shoes Kirby and a great video as always. Whilst I’m not in the position to be able to commission a pair of bespoke shoes yet I do have several high end bench made shoes. A nice touch I have found is mirror shining the waist of the sole (particularly on fiddle backs but the black contrast definitely gives a defined area to do it), I know nobody really sees it but it is one of those finer details that is somebody knows shoes then they will appreciate the effort you have gone to to detail a seldom seen a element of the shoe.

Hey Tom, if you lack some of the fund you need to commission a pair of European bespoke shoe, you can definitely try out some of the Chinese bespoke shoe maker such as Lu Yang who ranked 17 in last year's world championship in shoe making.Also, Yim is also a choice who also located in China. Both of them have ins account and charged relatively lower for their craft. Hopefully this helps!

Meermin is kind of cheap materials compared to others. If you'd like, you can check some of the European brands such as newly rising brand Lof Tung with roughly the same price tags. I got 2 pairs of loafers early June and I also did a full review video on that. Meermin manufactured their shoes in China, that is no problem, but their leather.........is just stiff according to many comments on StyleForum.

Does it upset you that here in the states Bespoke shoemaking is non existent. For young people who love shoes you would have to travel to Europe to learn this artform. Which drives anyone here who wants to learn away. No student loans for shoemaking. They cover lesbian dance theory though lol 😂
