I think that's fair advice but I still think current owners should have consideration if some of the blurry performance modes and dropping frames are a issue but if not 100% stick with OG Ps5. The Pro is also boosting many unpatched ps4/5 games to run locked 60fps (if unlocked) and maxing out dynamic resolutions. It's not just about comparing the graphics like in this video because it really does look minimal on YT but much better in person.

People should really stop basing their opinions on the differences on compressed KZbin videos, often not 4k, compressed, no hdr, no vrr I was sceptical. I unboxed the pro last weekend for my uncle and connected it to a 77inch LG Oled c4. With VRR enabled it runs soooo much smoother. Al games are around 100fps with VRR. And the graphics are all fidelity. The difference is sooo noticeable. Yes you need a good tv but then again, if you still play on a cheap ass tv a pro isnt for you in the first place

Sure it’s better, no one is debating it’s better but is it double the price better? Not really. Had they priced this thing at around $599 with a disk drive many people wouldn’t have complained about the price. In my region it’s €799 and with a disc drive (impossible to find stock anywhere btw) and the stand you looking at almost €1000. I can build a PC for €1000 that makes the PS5 pro look like a joke for that money. This is a simple cash grab by Sony due to the fact Xbox is no longer competing in the hardware market anymore and also the fact the ploughed hundreds of millions into the flop Concord that they need to recoup.

Agreed though some are badly in need of patches like Alan Wake which is pretty bad visually very noisy and shimmery. Plus the flickering issues on some walls and such in Dragons Dogma 2 and issues with image quality in Dragon Age. It will just take devs a while to get used to what it can do I think. One game that still looks great is Drive Club.

Keep coping. It is very much a scam. 300 "upgrade" and 400 if you are into physical media. Versus something like a PC where u can actually get a new CPU or GPU upgrade for 300 to 400 dollars more. And actually be able to go up the next tick on your graphics and see the difference. I got the ps5 pro myself and only had about 10 mins to check out the psvr2 on GT7. It is so much better on the ps5 pro. The distance you can make out car models is increased and the brightness and colour of the cars is much better. If you want the best vr experience on GT7, The pro is a must. I checked out resident evil village also and it's waaay better than standard ps5. They seem to have nearly gotten rid of the mesh or screen door effect with the pro. I don't even think they officially said that they have optimised gt7 for use with the pro yet, so if it improves further it's going to be amazing. Hope this helps out

KZbin’s compression doesn’t do well in showing the finer details that the pro enhances. If you have a vrr capable display there is such a huge difference, playing games like Spider-Man, horizon zero dawn, even gt 7.

Gt7 runs a lot smoother and the picture is a lot cleaner. I drove 588 hours on the psvr2 on the launch ps5. Now on the pro its really a big difference, without a official patch. The draw distance is sharper, image is cleaner, it runs a lot smoother. this is not placebo because i drove so many hours on my old ps5. For the 699 price you get great hardware 🙏🏻🥳

It's not deeper colors, it ray traced ambient occlusion... which iow is letting the light and especially the shadows do/act as they normally/naturally do. That's why the example of the trees in the background BEHIND the lights are presented more in shadow, as they should be, with the lights shining in the opposite direction.

Out of actual racing the base PS5 and Series X have ray traced reflections so there won’t me a major difference in those spots other than frame rate as far as reflections go. During races they don’t have it though where Pro does.

I think during high movement 3D graphic actions games, a clearer image is going to help, for example COD and Driving games, you can see the sign during the driving maneuver or turning the words are clearer than none Pro version, I hope this tech will be vastly improved on PS6, because motion blur sometime could be annoying, but with this we can enjoy motion blur with the sharper image and the peripheral vision blurry effect.

I don't have any skin in the game, but my take on it is it's absolutely not worth it for these very slight visual effects. Where it is possibly worth it is for games that can run higher resolution or higher fidelity - or both - in the relative PS5 performance modes. That way you're getting the best of both worlds. Is it worth the price for the upgrade? To me it wouldn't be if I gamed on PS5, but I think it might be more tempting to go pro if I was buying a PS5 for the first time. Especially with the increased storage.

Well, the biggest flaw in F1 23 is the shadows, it’s not even shadows on other cars in multiplayer. As I see first of all the first seconds in comparison here, is that the left version feels like F1 23, barely shadows on opponents, but on the Pro, nice shadows is shown as it should on the ground. Quite big difference that gives more depth and realism than you think.

I have the PS5 Pro and cannot really tell the difference. I suspect thats why during the demos they had a ps5 screen right above a ps5 pro. On my 4K 120Hz TV or 165HZ gaming monitor I cannot tell the difference. We've hit a plateu. If you have 750 pounds or dollars,probably better to buy a second hand gaming pc with a 3070Ti GPU.

I agree with you regarding Digital Foundry. They have been incredibly careful what they have said regarding the PS5 Pro. I am sure they haven't really said anything liabalous towards sony but i think it really does show the Pro is technically better and the increased fidelity is true but can we the end user really see it unless you look at a side by side comparison ? I don't think so. Sony are cashing in on fanbase loyalty as lets face it if this is all they can offer us with the pro it's the end of console gaming but of course a PS6 will come and will be technically better specs wise but you really will need your plcebo pill but there will be those that will buy it just because they are told it is better. The frame rate improvement on the Pro is immediately more noticeable. I dont understand how people dont see these rhings ive always been sensitive yo performance and I expected that would be the difference in the pro long before it came out. ( Its more stable in the rain on the pro, when on a normal track the levels are about even.) Now compare a game like FF7 rebirth. There are definitely improvements there, but the improvementa vary from game to game. Grabbing a game that doesnt have much improvements then complaining about it just to get likes on a video is so obvious. There's gonna be a lot of hate on these systems. Personally, i dont like the way the system improvements were implemented or how the system is being marketed. But im not gonna pretend like there arent significant improvements in many titles.

Loving the upgrade in frame rates in other games, I mean last of us part 1 is even more stunning. horizon remastered, perfect in performance pro mode. Really glad I upgraded. But then I do have a pc as well and I am very much aware of smaller details and frame rates. Some will say, well if you have pc why get the pro? Well I don’t have to wait for exclusive to port over and I also dont always like being locked away gaming upstairs, nice to have an alternative to just chill on couch while the Mrs reads a book etc

It has 22 teraflops, better Ray Tracing (Plus Ray Reconstruction) Frame Gen, DLSS is a better upscaler and y'all have nothing like DLDSR which looks better then Native when combined with DLSS. That 16gb ram has to be shared with the CPU. On PC all that 16gb goes to the GPU because we have dedicated ram just for the CPU You can build a better PS5 Pro with 800

I think such talk about this filter indicates gross ignorance and lack of knowledge of how global illumination works in general. That's one thing. Two, it's the way it is in real-time graphics that now every push of graphics costs a great deal of computation. It's impossible to skip over that. Is it worth $700? Let everyone decide for themselves. Is it a SCAM? Hmm...the graphics are better, more realistic. This increase in lighting precision, reflections during the game (not just during cutscenes) and shadows costs a lot of power, even if you don't see it so literally during the game.

The thing is some games including f1 Spiderman etc look already good on base. The pro has done wonders on other ganes final fantasy and outlaws when its fixed. So I'm tempted but i have to admit sone of these games wont be a massive difference. So the question is the base has unrealised potential or there's a bunch of lazy devs out there.

This is why I’m laughing at people that bought this console of a Scam, then they’re crying these Sony Ponies and demand a refund lol, by March 2025 this fake console with its fake resolution with a filter on it so people don’t get mad at what they bought and got sucked into it.
