The problem with Saber is that she thinks war can be glorious. When she can just see it as something to be fought with purpose. If that war has no purpose, it's just chaos. Madness. War has its commanders who uphold some form of *order* while madness is just chaos. Not many can tell the difference because of the fact that no matter which one of the two you look at, there is bloodshed and death where you might not know what the reason is at the time. It is horror, regardless.

You know, sometimes I wonder if kirtisugu entire the holy grail war when he was younger and with Natalie by his side, just maybe, maybe saber and him would talk to each other and try to understand one another ideals and their point of view on war. Kirtisugu asking how can knights extolled warfare and have they ever about the families if the men they killed. Saber by asking how can he make the world a better place if all you do is kill anyone who is a threat to another else instead of finding a peaceful alternative and if he doesn't believe in justice and righteousness is something that exists then does still try to attain them so no one else has to cry. If they both try put aside they pride and try find common ground, no one would beat, I would goes as far to say they would be friends.

Except that those wars were decided by the elite, not the common soldier as the minority of them didn´t want to fight anymore. I understand Kiritsugu´s point, but the problem with him is that he's not being realistic he's being pessimistic, and arrogant as he sees himself as the guy that can unify the world, the irony here is that to achieve world peace he needs to kill people which at this point they were just numbers for him. Also is being a while since those wars, humanity may not be perfect, but we try and right now the world is a little better than before it could be better, but for that to happen we need to have hope.

@destinitaylor4360 Жыл бұрын
There’s always one thing I have NEVER understood about that line from Saber. “Even the taking of another’s life in battle, as a human being, must have ideals!” …..what?? How can you, righteousness or not, evil or not, an idealist, a king, a saint, whatever. How can you look at someone in their eye, after you murdered their love ones in the act of war and say you killed them because of “your ideals”. Killing is killing. It’s wrong no matter what your position or your reasoning is. Killing another person should never be honorable. Which is why I will always be more partial Kiritsugu’s side in this argument over Saber’s, even though he’s certainly not entirely right either. (A world without suffering is foolish and a delusion after all) Actually to be exact neither character is entirely right or wrong here truth be told, it’s just more so who resonated more with you. To me my personal opinion is this, Kiritsugu is not blinded by the pretty lies told to children about glory, honor, and Justice, and yet still despite this wants to be a hero, while Saber is, and she burned for it, they both did. A lesson to be learned. Heros cannot save the world, that’s better left to fairy tales. The battlefield is not an honor to behold. It’s bloody, it’s heinous, MONSTROUS even. It’s hell on earth and it’s laughable to think that honor can be had on one
@teencomment Жыл бұрын
Noble causes, laws of war, codes of chivalry. Taking a life because it's a duty, rather than because you want to kill. Treating your opponent with honor even as you defeat them, rather than being cruel. That sort of thing is what she was talking about. Kiritsugu, however, knows that you can dress it up however you want, but war is war, and it's awful, no matter what cause you claim to be following in it. It's easy to say that you're fighting for a noble cause, but the reality always makes you doubt, because the situation you actually experience is far from noble and glorious.
@ciszaiogien Жыл бұрын
I love to watch you kids struggle to understand the reality, and how you "normies" pretend to know everything. If you don't fight for ideals, then your life is worth nothing, but even if i say it, does not mean you can ever understand it, you can only try to interpret it in your way, because you are not even trying to understand perfect ideas, so talking with you is pointless, just like your arguments

You never understood it because it DOESNT make sense and this wasnt what Saber was like before Urobuchi wrote Zero. And thankfully that's not who Saber is in literally every other Fate. Saber knew exactly what war does, the sacrifices needed and wouldnt bother trying to justify it with any sort of ideals. She also HATED fighting but she had to fight because of how much power she held.Aka the bullshit rivalry with Diarmuid that made her willing to let a monster escape is also something forced on her by Urobuchi. He wanted to make her into a naive knight in order to have her clash with Kiritsugu when she herself would have no issues with his methods because she outright would sacrifice her own villages for an advantage in the battlefield. The reason she hated him at the end was only because of the order to destroy the grail, which to her came out of nowhere. Kiritsugu and Saber are supposed to be the same, not opposites.
@riiddisbuk249610 ай бұрын
To put it simply, to take a life in battle must have *purpose* behind it. Otherwise, if the whole world waged war for nothing, you might as well unleash the fire of hell. And in a battlefield, there are chances for victory. In hell, there's only eternal defeat.

Chivalry separates people from barbarity. Its easy to be ruthless but hard to let a child go knowing that child might be crazy enough to try and hurt you. But it is the ideals of chivalry that founded the west. Its why we have thrived while civilizations thousands of years old have fallen into purgatory. Those who are ruthless and brutal might exist for 2 or 3 millenia, but they wont advance at all. To truly move forward, good or bad, one must try to stay human even on a battlefield where you didnt want to be there. But an enemy nation. An enemy gang. A billigerant drunk. Forced you to fight or die. Saber didnt defend herself here because she hadnt even thought deeply about it. She was a patriot but what she really needed to be was a philosopher for her people. To help them move forward rsther than be a pretty magical terminator in the name of her country
@williamtaylor11364 ай бұрын
Except if you know war or look at history, Chivalry is a lie told to make the soldier and civilian feel better. Barbarians were a great source of slave labor for Rome. The reality is, war hasn't changed. When swords are swung, arrows leased or bullets rained the result is no different. A comrade you shoot, the innocent you kill. The same soldier on the other side that dies so that you can live. Human nature hasn't evolved a step beyond the stone age. War is hell.
@TheNorthHawk3 ай бұрын
@@fluffyisyermom7631 Don't kid yourself. The "West" was not founded on ideals of chivalry. That delusion was born out of a desire to whitewash the sins of the father, and is a blatant lie. While throughout history there may have been rare individuals who conducted themselves according to some narrow and convenient definition of heroic virtue, in the end the civilizations held up as the sires of the West were invariably those who were the most warlike, the most convinced of their own moral superiority and divine entitlement to rule while also being the most warlike, the most willing to raze, destroy and despoil, visit violence upon others and subjugate or enslave them. To pretend otherwise is absurd.
