In the 80s and 90s I used a RG 80 Randall exclusively. I bought it in 83 because it was inexpensive. I played it for 20 years because it sounded great. I hope someday you can find one of them and demo it. My friend used to borrow it and at his gigs he would put it behind his Marshall stack.

The lab series were great. I'd like to see him demo one of those to. I'm not sure if he has.

The difference between the old solid state amps and the new ones is you could gig with the old ones. The new ones are basically for home use.

Killer power and clarity ! What a little beast . This thing chuggs , as Ola would say ! Love that tightness and articulation . I am not biased , but I've played some snakeskin Randall 1x12 combo back in the 90's , I found killer . I have a Randall 1x12 RG75 combo at this time which is quite impressive as well . Superior build quality from Randall . Your playing and sound in this video is really superb ! I might just go take out my RG75 Randall from the back office and rock out with it tonite : )

Ive pretty much resorted in using it as a head. Im still debating cutting the cab open for a 8 inch speaker, or just opt for a Jensen mod 8 ohm speaker upgrade. The 6.5 inch is fine for cleans but under gain, it cant hold its own.
@byronlaird51163 жыл бұрын
Aw yeah! I have a similar mini-Randall = RG15XM. Pretty sure 'XM' means Xtra Metal, cuz that's what my little amp does best !! Even tho it only has a 6" speaker, the ported baffle helps to make it sound much bigger. Doesn't have a speaker-out jack like Kirk's model. Found mine at a local antique/junk store, paid $35.

I had one of those back a few years. The stock 8" speaker makes it sound like shit. I had a broken marshall mg combo and ended up taking the kh and retrofitting it into the marshall combo shell to give it a 12" speaker to go through. Overall not a bad amp.
@jimmychesteen65596 ай бұрын
I had an rg20 wth the Proco rat running into the front end, I would put it up on the couch with the back of the amp up against the back of the seat... it was an open back amp and it would thump like a 4×12, sold the amp and pedal for 50 bucks,...regrets...

Box of bee's. Too much fizz, not enought growl. Thanks though. I wish they came out with a "tremolo"/distortion pedal where you could change the time rate of the clean/distortion coming through. The "tremolo" part would swell the distortion in and out without affecting the overall volume. I guess it would have to be a fast "tremolo", to make it sound like it's actually effecting the rate of the clipping. I want to get a "slow gargle" sound out of the distortion. (No fizz).
@JohanSegeborn3 жыл бұрын
I actually like the sound to be a bit “fizzy”, it comes through better in the mix then. You can use the amp EQ to take away
