Ridgeline is a fantastic truck. I tow 3,200 lbs regularly. Have hauled stone, mulch, bricks, concrete, mountain bikes, moved people, and drive long distances...solid truck.

For me personally: Need it to look more aggressive, longer bed, actual gear shift of some sort (I don't like those push buttons on a truck). If Honda made those changes, I would look into as I am looking into getting a truck sometime in the slightly distant future.

I bought a 09' Ridgeline new in November of 08'. Still driving it. Does everything that I need. Now I'm retired and it has lite driving, (i.e. shopping, dump run's, dog park , around town stuff and occasionally drives out of town to visit family. I agree with you that Ridgeline evening 99% of people need and use it for. I'm a Boomer, so I don't like all the stuff they put in vehicles. The smarter the car gets, the dumber and less skilled we get at driving. Appreciate your thoughts in your videos.

Have a 2019 sport and with 51,000 miles on it, the truck still rides smooth and without any creaks inside. I also like the stick shift transmission rather than the push buttons on the new ones, and there is no button to push everytime you start it to keep the engine running at stop lights! I thought of upgrading to the 2024, but ya know it's still the same truck but for the 6 speed transmission I have. BTW I tow my 2022 GeoPro 19' RV trailer (fully loaded around 4,000 lbs) every summer with no problem. The radio was pretty basic so I bought a Kenwood touchscreen radio the greatly improves that. All in All the ridgeline has been my favorite truck after owning many trucks over the years.

The Ridgeline is by far the best pickup on the market. It's the Goldilocks of trucks... Not too big, not too small but sized to do what 95% of all truck owners need. It hauls 4x8 sheets of building material flat in the bed. And let's be honest, nobody takes a $50k new truck off road. That is reserved for owner 2 or 3.

I have a 2022 and will say the truck hasn’t changed in years and is a great truck for most. The interior does need to be updated as it’s looked aged compared to its rivals. You can also fit a Honda Rebel (the motorcycle I have) with a bed extender. I use an MG moto gate and have a tonneau cover.

Love the fact that you fold up the seats up like that to fit a bike in it. I would love to get one of these but I need it to tow abit more. I can tow my RSX-S with my spare tires, jack, jack stands, tools, BBQ grill. I can fit my pit bike in that back seat. I hope the new ridge line comes with the new V6 out of the pilot and the new transmission.

I really liked looks of Frontier and surprised by its quiet ride, but in snow and ice country, I really couldn’t go back to 1980’s style part time 4x4 and have to keep manually switching it in and out as needed. So I picked up a Ridgeline Black Edition and the bed easily fits my e-bike on its side, where as it was a pretty tight fit in Frontier. Honda push button drive I could do without and the adaptive cruise/auto-brake is very dated, kicks off at 25 mph. The stereo is a real challenge to tone down the tinny sound !! Honda could easily improve that, probably with just a software upgrade. Got first drive on thick ice and wow, I am impressed with how well it does. Is a very comfortable and quiet truck, perfect for my in town light use. I don’t wish to ever pull anything. I suppose the front styling could be a little less dowdy looking. But I really, really like it a lot. 5000 miles and no issues for the dealer to mend.

I've come close to buying a Ridgeline a couple of times. They make so much sense. Like a spork. But it was about as exciting as a spork. I want a bit of luxury. Honda doesn't do luxury. We had a ‘21 Ridgeline RTL. Great engine / drivetrain. It did the truck things I needed it to do. However, it was the most problematic vehicle we’ve owned, someone should spend some jail time for the pushbutton shifter. It’s an unsafe design, the lag in changing gears was loooooooomnnnnnnggggggg, the phone charger wires were always in the way. The bi-colored headlights were nauseating, the accident avoidance systems are HORRIBLE. The seats didn’t hold up well. In the end we couldn’t wait to get rid of it. Parting gift? Bad resale value. Get rid of the bad shifter design, get all LED headlights, upgrade the materials and I might consider one again.

I picked up a '24 Black Edition a few months ago and I'd say it's above average. It's the best midsize truck I've ever owned, compared to Colorado, Tacoma, and Frontier, but it's definitely not perfect. I have no doubt this truck will be super reliable for the long term, but there are some annoyances with how it drives. The driver assist system is awful, especially the adaptive cruise. If I step up the speed, sometimes it takes 3-4 seconds before it even begins to accelerate. I also experience this delay when I go to pass on the highway with ACC on, I have to engage the accelerator manually because the truck will not pick up speed at a safe rate, it's just dangerous. My other gripes include occasional weird transmission behavior, brakes feel weak, cylinder deactivation (which I just disabled), the paint quality is not great, the dash around the gauges has an annoying rattle. Having owned 3 Honda vehicles before this, I am a bit disappointed in the Ridgeline because it simply doesn't live up to expectations set by those previous Hondas. They seem to have fallen off a bit as all manufacturers have, in my opinion, but I certainly don't regret buying it. It serves my needs well, is comfortable to drive, gets great fuel economy, and it should be reliable for many years to come. I give it a 7.5/10 overall.

I think if they got rid of that push button transmission it would just go back to the previous generation where each driver will have their own adjustable armrest and then they’ll just be a big gap in the middle. Last I checked, everyone hated the adjustable armrest and would prefer just a large center console for storage. but I do agree. I kind of wish they would give us an option to like $1000 or more to have a column shifter or lever shifter because I would prefer a column shifter as well.

Nice review, as a Taco owner, I have been interested in this as I am getting older and don't use the off road capabilities of my modified Off-Road like I did in the past. When we travel, my wife always complains about the comfort and noise level and refuses to ride in it more than a couple of hour trip. I have been looking at either the Trailsport or Black Edition, and with the fantastic trade in value with Tacomas, I can get into either for a very attractive price. oh, BTW, if you get yourself a milk carton or small step stool, you can use it as a step up to the box and walk the bike into the bed easily and safely, I do it all the time with my KTM.

At least he makes two distinct observations. One he specifically made a point saying the truck is not built for off road (truck things). Second he mentioned getting 22 mpg driving around in this hog (reference gas hog). The only reason I believe it's not for off road is the lack of ground clearance. Keep in mind this will also compromise it's performance in deep snow as well. I also don't like getting a doughnut instead of a real spare tire. This also is a piss poor design because if you are hauling anything you will not be able to access the spare at all. Not to mention the bed is raised to allow for the trunk and spare tire, which makes loading and unloading the bed more difficult. Let's also not to forget the trunk is not ergonomically correct when trying to bend over and lifting at an awkward position and not being able to use legs to lift you have to use your back. Lastly look at market share or how many they are selling in a year with over a decade of a customer base.

When should we expect to see a new Ridgeline?

2006 or 2027 most likely. Next Gen RL will be on the current Pilot platform, same as the upcoming new Passport.

I hate something you love. I've had mine six weeks and still can't adjust fan speed or mode (where it blows) without taking my eyes off the road. My previous trucks were Toyota Tundras, and they had big knobs I could manipulate with work gloves on (a truck thing) and once I learned that up was heat, right was defrost, left was AC, and the fan blew harder the farther you went right, I could do it all without looking.

I have a 2020 honda ridgeline touring. How come you don't have the power plug in the box? I also have the heated & cooled seats and I have climate control for my rear occupants. Ohh yah I also have the speakers in the box for real tailgate parties. The only thing I have that I dislike are my centre arm rest. BTW hauled my 17ft legend boat with no issue's .

The Ridgeline really needs to be on an updated platform. It still looks like 2016 inside. While the V6 is smooth, it's very torque deficient. It needs another 100ftlbs to be competitive.

The biggest problem with the ridgeline is it doesn’t stroke enough egos out there. That’s why it gets so much hate by people who’ve never owned one . I’ve had a ford ranger fx4 , Tahoe , ridgeline , Chevy truck. Jeep jk , Tacoma off-road lifted , tundra , Jeep JL now a tundra trd pro . I trade every couple years when I get bored with vehicles. I will agree it does need a refresh and could use more ground clearance . Buy what you like not what other people will like for you. The ridgeline wasn’t bad at all. It fit a Honda 400 4wheeler in the bed and hauled it around like it wasn’t there. The Tacoma was without a doubt the worst vehicle . Crappy on wet roads. The bed was useless. The backseats were terrible for kids. The new ones look worse.

My 2023 RL Sport has no bells or whistles. Less to break. No leather bc it’s hot & doesn’t wear as cloth. Sun roof or sliding window … nope. Having owned only 2 GMC SLE 1500 trucks over 29 yrs, I intended to purchase another. Then when GM decided to double in price for the same comparable vehicle, I looked at midsize. The Honda Sport had more standard equipment than GMC for a fraction of the cost … and it tows a 3640 bassboat easily. In the old days … Ford - quality is job one. Chrysler - if you can find a better car buy it. Chevrolet - see the USA in a Chevrolet. Today … Have your dealer service dept loaded in your phone.

I have a '21 RTL. Love it. Not a fan of the push button gear shifter. I absolutely HATE the infotainment. It's a pile of dog sh*t and is quite possibly the worst system I've ever experienced in a vehicle.

I have a 23 that shifts kind of odd- i don't like the 9 speed at all ...and probably needs more torque as it wants to downshift alot. The Tacoma I test drove a few years ago was worst than the Ridgeline. The ride is not as good as the full size trucks I drove throughout the years ...but better than compacts in my opinion.

As someone who owns a Ridgeline, and someone who had five Honda elements and probably a hundred cars... The Ridgeline is my favorite... If only it looked a little beefier got a little better gas mileage and could tow a little more it would be perfection Rides like a Cadillac handles like a Subaru And it's got so much storage

I had a 2017 ridgeline, had so much trouble with it i traded at 95,000. To Honda's credit all work and parts were covered. I have never been in a nicer truck than the RL. Loved the vehicle, but no longer trust them. For my use it was the perfect vehicle., and yes sales are way down.......

I had a '17 RL for 6 months before I traded it in for a new '21. Dealership gave me more in trade than I paid for it. I had problems with the '17 as well. The '21 has none of those problems so I reckon they've addressed them.

@@defender714 one of the AC hoses are prone to failure. The gauge cluster sometimes will light up like a Christmas tree for no reason. The factory alarm would just go off randomly like it was a '90 BMW.

The Ridgeline is a pickup for people who don't drive pickups. Like me. I don't care about towing capacity nor off road ability. I was interested in the Accord. With what they are offering, I'll pass. The base model has a 1.5 liter engine. The hybrids have 2.0 liter engines. You don't even get a 12 volt dc socket in the dash. The Ridgeline has a lockable trunk and a flat floor. Plus, you get storage below the rear seat. It is great to still have the V-6, but the mileage is atrocious. I still get 30 mpg on my 2004 Accord V-6. I guess I will be keeping it. Can we get rid of everything on the center console except for cupholders and more storage. Put the selector lever back on the steering column. Sorry for the rant. I'm just tired of automotive design going backwards.
