My mind was made up and set on a Tacoma TRD pro but with prices being the way they are, I decided to look elsewhere. I ended up test driving a new pro 4x. Not only was it 10k less, but I liked it more. Much more comfortable interior and just honestly felt like a better quality truck in general. I do off road, so that was a capability I was looking at. The stock suspension goes to the TRD pro, however, for 3k, I can have better and still have saved a lot. But…the pro 4x has a better crawl ratio in gearing. In the end, I’m happy the TRD pro was out of my comfort zone financially because the pro 4x, so far, has been amazing

Or maybe the reason you're not poor is because you don't foolishly spend over $40k on a midsize pickup?

It’s always better to buy used, you could get a 10 year old f-150 for half the price of these new truck and are more capable. It just depends on what you’re looking for.
@justaname109
@justaname109 Жыл бұрын
@@d.b.2917 used can be tricky, especially when you’re considering something that old. The average miles on a 10 year old vehicle is 120,000 miles. You’re certainly going to be looking at potential for serious engine and or transmission issues along with obvious wear and tear items. Also with your particular example, 2013 f 150s were fairly problematic, from complete transmission failures(they had a software issue that cause them to downshift into first gear randomly), prone to manifold cracking, faulty brake master cylinder seal, among other things. The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration also received a large number of complaints about this particular year ranging from unintended rapid acceleration, sudden deceleration, and melted wires from shorts.

I just bought a brand new 2023 Pro-4X in white. I think the white really makes the lines and black trim pop on these trucks. Only a few hundred miles so far but I am really impressed with this truck. I'll also vouch for its towing ability as it handled a 6400 pound trailer way better than I expected. The AC will freeze you out even on these 100+ humid days we've had lately. My wife has a 2023 Pathfinder Rock Creek but my 4X is quickly becoming the lets go somewhere vehicle in the driveway.

@@christopheryu5616 Obviously MPG is going to be highly dependent on the conditions you normally travel in. That being said, I'm currently getting 23.5 MPG at just over 2,500 miles in mine. I've been wanting a new truck for a while, but waiting patiently for all the midsize redesigns to come out, and for pricing to return to sanity. I'm not a sucker who's willing to pay over MSRP for an already overpriced vehicle. I think within the next year deep discounts will be available on the Frontier. The new Tacoma, on the other hand, will command top dollar for a while because Toyota will be sure to invent a supply shortage in order to boost demand and transaction prices. They've become quite good at playing that game since covid. As much as I like the all new Tacoma, I'm leaning toward getting a 2024 Pro4x next spring. I like its old school simplicity, driving comfort and the durability/reliability of the V6... although I am a bit concerned about carbon build up since there's no port injection to wash the valves.

Just bought a 2023 pro4x and I can say I’m happy with it. Was comparing the taco and the frontier but ultimately the new design and the refreshed interior pulled me in. Took it to the dunes and it performed good. Used the tow mode to pull my trailer with quads and it’s super good the cameras definitely could be better but did their jobs when it came to backing up, also just pulled out another frontier that had gotten stuck in soft sand and it performed better than I expected. Don’t sleep on these little trucks they are definitely super fun

@@stw2186 Well I previously had a 2021 wrangler Willy’s and it was nice but the ride was so damn rough on and off road. The frontiers ride height is good in my opinion and personally I think that on and off the road is more comfortable than the Tacoma. I would say the seat position in the frontier is a lot more comfortable than the Tacoma, to me the Tacomas seat position is like a sports car. I would say test drive them both and see which one suits you more.

But that engine ticked, like shaking loose keys, or change. I took it back several times, they said it's known and no one would do anything. I traded it within months for a base Chevy pickup and swore - I would never get a Nissan anything. Good video, my brother got the Nissan Pro and loves it. I have a 2018 Tacoma Sport. It only has 35k on it and I've done a few modifications like lifting it and putting Gear rims on it with K02s, and a few other modifications. It's been by far the best vehicle I've ever owned, but again, I don't drive it much anymore since I'm retired. I've owed one Nissan, a 2003 Xterra that for the most part I liked a lot, and had it ten years. In fact, I wouldn't even have gotten rid of it, but just over 67k (I mentioned I don't drive much, LOL) I started having idling and a few starting up issues. Three trips to the dealership, and three "Well, we really don't know ...... but let's try this THIS time" while being charged each time only to have the original problems remain, it was time to get rid of it. Hell, if the techs at the dealership don't know what's wrong with it, there's a problem. I've also had a few friends with both Titans and an Altima, and one Morano, who had similar problems and that pretty much made me stay away from them. Again, I did love the SUV until the issues, but in reality, it didn't even have seventy thousand on it. Not saying the Frontier isn't a nice truck though, but at this point I'm looking for long term reliability.

Nissan has a reputation of being lesser in quality than Toyota. Has not been my case. One thing for sure is that their cars are less expensive than Toyotas so they are most likely purchased by people who can’t afford a Toyota and also can’t afford proper maintenance i.e. extending the time between oil changes. A properly maintained Nissan will last as much as a Toyota.

I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado. It has 110,000 miles. It hauls and tows and has never failed once. I bought it to haul things. I don’t see a lot of people doing that. I don’t care how it handles or its track times. It is solid and dependable and doesn’t have plastic valve covers and oil pans. I can sell it today for $10,000 but I can’t get anything close to replace it. I see very few new trucks being used for actual work of any kind. If you want performance, buy a sports car. $40,000-$100,000+ for a mid-size or full-size truck you’ll never use seems foolish to me but that’s just me. It’s your money.

In terms of Safety features this thing comes loaded! You gotta talk more than just lane keep assist (which isn’t implemented well usually and most people don’t want, especially in a truck). Nissan does a great job not gatekeeping safety features like Blind Spot Monitoring *looking at you Toyota 🤦 *

The steering wheel could be a bit smoother. Yeah hydraulic steering is great but cmon it could be better. I think they refined the 2023 frontier vs the 2022. The tranny can get all over the place on the 2022... But i did read the tranny is self learning so it may change over time. Otherwise its a great truck very fun to drive. Id wait a few year and pick up a used one for sure.

I can attest to your Tacoma dislikes. I have a 2019 TRD off Road. All the issue you mentioned with Tacoma are true. The engine is slow to accelerate but powerful. It has never felt right. It's reliable and the 2019 engine is strong and basic, but I'm looking at the Frontiers. Tough decision. Both Trucks are awesome. Ohh and the interior Rattling is a noticeable issue with my Tacoma. I had to put wedges in the dash board to stop it from rattling. Nissan did an awesome job with the body style, I think that's why so many Tacoma sell

Thanks I like BOTH, ive owned BOTH.. I have no ,loyalty either way BOTH were great.. That was back in 1995-2007 when I was driving trucks before I decided since back then their MPG really sucked and i was using it as a daily driver and commuting to work and back didnt want the bad MPG anymore. Fast forward almost 20 years and I havent even seen a 2024 Tacoma yet but ive seen their PRICES..... and ive seen the Price of the one I assume directly competes with the Pro4X and Im assuming thats the TRD Off Road double cab.. I also see thats $52K+ so bang for the buck for ME just isnt there.. and thats if they decide to actually use MSRP not do the above MSRP Ford did with lets say the Bronco(bot the little Bronco II but the bigger one) you couldn't find one of those around me for MSRP.. here is to better Toyota does the same thing.. I think I can get a 2024 Frontier Pro4X for around 45K for a more loaded one and the one I looked at today was 41K and that was BEFORE incentives so im betting 39-40 after the incentives id qualify for... So unless i was just a Toyota Fanboy why exactly would I pay 52K+ for something I can get for 40-45K before incentives... Id rather pocket the 7-12K difference and use it to further deck out the Frontier

No. It does exactly what he said in the vid, pwr/comfort etc... She sold her J**p for it (nice) but it's not this truck. I fit in it! (tall, back issues). The 4.0 v6 and 5 speed 2nd gen is awesome. 10k less than a tacoma and never dies. The third gen is basically the same truck just they switched the v6 to direct injection and swapped the 5 speed with a 9 speed. Even the intake and everything is placed exactly the same as 2nd gen.

What a difference. Year can make . Toyota has a new facelift. Including A much stiffer boxed frame . Extensive use of Hybrid technology 2.4 l - giving it well past 300 plus Horse Power and torque 469 ft pounds . Proper 4WD appointments , 6 speed manual or 8 speed automatic. Now it looks The part and plays the part - only one glaring issue, the trucks insane Wheelbase . Ends up being the same as full sized half ton pickup. With all things being equal- very Few people , who understand the Complexity of hybrid engines . I’d Also be concerned about water forging .
