Thank you Pat Cola for responding to my comment from 5 months ago when I commented that the agitator begins with clothes in the tub yet without water. I did see that the agitator appears harmless with the rounded edges. However, our clothes are still getting knotted up-especially shirts when the agitation begins and there is no water in the tub. Evidently the person who designed this has never washed garments. I find no logical reasoning for this set up. And yes I still have the washer but use the delicate cycle most of the time. I really like your profile with the cross pic. Indeed shines some light for my dreary washer!

My husband is ready to purchase another washer. We have an athlete and his underwear still has sweat stains after washing. Doesn't work nearly as good as our old Maytag. Wasn't as fancy but did the job.

I do each load of laundry twice. Of course it uses twice as much water, detergent and electricity! But that is the only way I can get my clothes clean. I called Maytag and the person suggested I prewash my clothes in a laundry sink before putting them in the washer. I really think I might be better off going to the river and beating my laundry on the rocks!

We have a friend who just got this machine, and they love it so far. I showed them how to run it with the lid open and he said they’ll sometimes just lean over watching it. I told them to trust that it’s going to auto fill properly and not to rely on the Bulky or Deep Fill options because as can be seen here, the load blooms and rolls just fine until it fills with too much water. He said even sheets wash and roll just fine on just the Normal cycle without twisting once they learned to trust the water level. The major downfall with these VMAX and even the VMW machines is that the impellers and agipellers are just not designed to move clothes in deep water. They are meant to move and bloom the clothing itself, not create currents like a traditional agitator.

I didn't think I'd see the day that a machine was slower and do so little in so much time as an LG front loader.But this machine takes the cake at 18mins to fill 'completely' and then do nothing but shred the clothes. Not Shred. Not any currents to reverse roll over fabrics. And it's not like Whirlpool don't no how to do it. On there flagship model years ago the 2000 dollar one ...really knew how to BLOOM ALL FABRICS AND LARGE LOADS PERFECTLY.!

Older LG front loaders may have been slow, but they have always scored top marks for cleaning performance. Recent models have had their wash times shaved down to less than a "good old fashioned clothes-grinder" like the TC, Maytag commercial etc.. but are washing at least twice as many clothes per load. There's literally no reason to buy a top loader but yet here Americans are, still buying them, and Whirlpool just pumping out steaming log after steaming log of a top loader that they know Americans will see that flimsy flap on the top and be like "Oh wow it's just what I've always wanted! Clothes that don't get washed, come out soaking wet, and cost me twice as much to dry because of course I don't hang clothes out to dry, that's not luxury living, this is America! Where fake feelings of luxury are the top priority!" lol.

I feel like the problem with all these new agitator washers is that the agitator moves back and forth rather than in one direction constantly and also that the tub moves with the agitator. If the tub remained stationary and the agitator moved in only one direction the whole time I think these would be awesome washers!

Take this from someone who temporarily attached a mud mixing drill to the top of the agitator of my wife's washing machine and ran it for 8 minutes. What happened is the lighter clothes folded into the heavier clothes like a rolling smoke ring if you will. So the clothes on the inside of the ring barely saw light and were twisted up like you would spin a towel before you tried to pop somebody in the ass.

Just bought this machine. We are concerned that the agitator begins vigorous operation after only a minimal amount of water has been added to the tub. The still dry clothes are being jerked around with little or no water. "Wow! That was a good shirt!" I would have designed the agitator to begin only after the clothes are completely covered with water. Is this concept difficult to grasp? Apparently so. I rest my case. Back to the store you go.

I have called the repair under the extended warranty so many times that the repair place threatened to charge me an extra $90 if the repair person didn't find something wrong with the machine. I responded that I have date and time stamped videos of it micro agitating and if they tried to charge me extra I would take them to small claims court. They cancelled the appointment. Now I will have to fight with the warranty service to replace the machine! And I didn't even mention that the fabric dispenser wasn't working! I have fought with this machine for over 2 years! I have to do every load of laundry twice just to get them reasonably clean. I called the Maytag support line and they suggested that I prewash my laundry in a laundry sink before putting the load in the washer! And they machine tries to dry clean the clothes more than it agitates with water! At least I have plenty of rags now, because it has torn up so many towels.

I called for repair on the washer last week. I have to call for repair so often that people think I just enjoy the company of the repair man. The repair company said that they would charge me a fee is the repair man did not find anything wrong! I told them that I have time and date stamp videos of the machine not agitating and they cancelled the appointment. Now I have to fight with the warranty company to get the machine replaced! I can't even imagine how much time and effort this washing machine has cost me! This is by far the worst washer I have ever owned! I'm in my seventies - so that is saying something!

Auto-fill is a failure. The water level needed to be much higher with the agitator, which I like. I noticed during the rinse cycle that the same clothes sat on the top the entire time and were never brought down and cycled into the water. Not good at all.

Absolutely NO rollover , under or blossoming.. if the agitator pole was a dual action you might get some rollover. Overall these clothes are just wet.. This wash action is similar to the Whirlpool .. Great post though

According to Maytag, the clothes get cleaner with less water. Since I got this machine, I wash each load twice just to get them clean. The machine spends most of the time dry cleaning the clothes and when it does add water, it doesn't agitate long enough, then it spins and spins and spins.

Our Maytag MVW7230Hw washer was just delivered day before yesterday. it was did not agitate on the first load, it just sat there and vibrated. We got it from Pochel s in Spanaway, Washington. I took a video of the washer in action and took it to show the salespeople at Pochel's. They said it was definitely bad out of the box. And for $100 delivery fee, they could get me another machine. I said I wasn't willing to pay $1,078.00 for a machine (warranty included in this price) and then pay another $100 to get one that actually worked. I called Maytag and now have to wait 3 weeks for a repair. At least Maytag gave me a $50 gift card for my inconvenience. Pochels did nothing except try to get more money.

I bet it was grinding your clothes in a dry machine while it was trying to decide how much water to add. I saw one post that said it wasn't hurting the clothes - I would argue that point. Friction is friction, if you spend most of your time sliding on your knees your jeans will wear out in the knees even if it is a smooth surface you are sliding on.

Press the start button on the machine, open the lid, then close the lid or all the water will drain out. As long as you don't hit the start button again, the lid should stay unlocked. You have to push the start button to restart the load.

We purchased this Maytag MVW7230Hw washer from Pochel’s in Tacoma, Washington. It was delivered and set up by the delivery person. We tried to do a load of laundry and the washer wouldn’t agitate. I took a video to show that the agitator pretty much just vibrated, and didn’t even disturb the small amount of suds that formed when the machine partially filled with water. I took the video to Pochels the next morning. They said they would gladly deliver another machine for only $100. I told them I wasn’t willing to pay an additional $100 to get a machine that worked when I had already paid over $1,000 for one that obviously didn’t work. Pochels told me to contact Maytag for a repair. I explained that since I had the machine less than 24 hours, I didn’t think it appropriate to call for a repair, but they explained that was my only option. I called Maytag, and the first appointment is several weeks out Later we tried another load of laundry and the washer literally tried to dry clean the clothes. You can see in the video that there is NO water in the machine, enough water came out to dampen the clothes and that was it. At least this time the agitator worked! But I have to manually add water to each load even though I put it on maximum fill. It takes about 4 hours to do a load of laundry. This machine is supposed to save water, but even when the agitator does work and you manually add water to the machine, you have to push heavy jeans under the water and swish them around with your hand to get them clean. I might as well go to the river and pound my clothes on the rocks.

Sadly that's exactly what I would expect from anything Whirlpool/Maytag. The company just exemplifies "minimum viable product", and they know they can because Americans are totally averse to better performing, better built, more durable front load machines from brands like Bosch, Miele and LG that have spent countless hours of R&D to design a truly impressive product.

This is what I experienced with a Samsung Impeller top load... I had to babysit it to make sure the clothes were clean and constantly push items down and twirl them around. Definitely not just American made... it's across the board. Washers these days, unless it's speed queen and a couple others, don't agitate the way most of us in the name of saving water (and government interference on normal cycles I read). Also my Samsung started making awful noises on spin after about 2-3 weeks of use!!! Dealing with them was an actual nightmare. Now I feeling like theres no good option. It's such a pain when you are in the market and need one ASAP. It's wild because a lot of my friends have Samsung and love it and have never had any issues! Ugh@@dregenius

I absolutely despise this machine. Ive complained for two years about it. Now i see comments from other people that understand why. I run max fill every time to try and get the clothes cleaner. The agitator works on dry clothes forever, which is stupid. I have cut my load sizes down in half to try and get them clean. Worst purchase ever! I do every load twice. The machine doesn't clean the clothes well, but if you do a second load, the extra water (lots of extra water) seems to do a reasonable job. Of course, it takes me about 3 hours to do a load of laundry and the amouont of water it uses is far more than a regular machine.
