And some creative rescripting of history: 0.40min: "Well, when I moved here it was mostly dropouts, like me..." In 1973, James Cutler received a Masters of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League School, the year before he moved to Bainbridge Island. My parents moved a lot when I was little, the one thing they all had in common was they were "cookie cutter," a trailer, an apartment, a Sears & Roebuck house and finally a brand new 3 bed, 2 bath brick house in a subdivision that was exactly like every other house. I used to say that I would live in a tree house or bus or lighthouse, just as long as it wasn't cookie cutter. I have lived at the same address for over 40 years, we bought an old plantation house that was on the Mississippi River levee and had it cut up and moved. I spent the next 30 years fixing, papering, painting, and repainting it...always changing it but I still love it because it is one of a kind.

Kirsten, you probably don't remember me, but I was a classmate of your sister's at Dartmouth. Someone I designed a house for a few years ago in Ketchum sent me this video because he said it reminded him of me. Flattering! James Cutler is cool. I first found your work when I was obsessed with the Extremadura house. I love your videos. Thank you.

@10:00 when he's talking about separate buildings I can totally relate. I made a greenhouse 2 years ago that is seperate from my house and even when it's minus 20 outside and I walk to it almost naked it makes me feel amazing.

His love for architecture and nature can really be seen through his work. Every project has and achieved it's individual purpose. Just wow! It would be such an honour to work with him
