I’d be very surprised if someone said that DRV3 wasn’t the most depressing game out of the series... -The person you expected to survive until the very end turns out to end up being the chapter 1 killer -The 2nd Victim believed that they quite literally had no reasons to live, thus accepting death so easily -The 2nd killer is the PRIME MINISTER OF JAPAN!! -(Everything in chapter 3) -The Victim in chapter 4 wanted to escape because they truly believed that they could save the outside world -The 4th killer didn’t want anyone to see the outside world, so he became the blackened so that everyone except him dies and he has to live in the terrible outside world -The character who is believed to be the biggest douchebag actually just wants to beat the killing game even at the cost of his own life -The character that always spoke about trusting people and doing what is right ends up being the killer and dies because of an illness -Maki loses the person that she actually cared about for the first time -You find out Rantaro has been in another killing game before, meaning that he has gone through the same things more than once -Kiibo is the audience incarnate, his decisions aren’t his own, they are the viewers decisions. -Shuichi finds out that Kaede wasn’t supposed to die in the first place And the worst part is the fact that: -None of it was real, it was all fiction. Their entire existence was only made for the entertainment of people who wanted to watch them die...

And then, when everyone except Kirumi was dead... She would find out that the "country" she just killed everyone for... does not exist. Her people do not exist. All that was fake. Just imagine the dread she felt when she realized that she just killed innocent people for nothing. I really would like an alternative ending like this, it would've been so powerful.

Sacrifice the 14 students for your country. or B. Don't do it and put a country of 125 *MILLION* people in danger, messing up the military system and causing possible wars that do even more damage to the general population, country, economy etc. It's an extremely difficult choice but it'd be generally unwise to let an entire country down just because you were trapped with 14 people, who once you leave the killing game, you won't ever meet again.

Tbh I hate people who are like "YOU NEED TO LIKE CHARACTERS WHO ARE IMPORTANT TO THE PLOT" but then hate on Iruma, no seriously without Iruma most of the cases would have been unsolved or just harder to solve also, Iruma who is an inventor (nothing to do with robots though from what I remember, she isnt a roboticist) she manages to upgrade a Robot she just met 2 seconds ago, which shows that she is really smart. Also unpopular opinion v3's survivors should have been; Kirumi, Angie, Miu, Shuichi, Kaito, Tenko, and Keebo. (I picked Angie and Tenko so we would see how they both grieve differently to Himikos death)

@candy Miu created a lot of things that helped, like the drone, cameras and sensors for Chap 1, the electrobombs and hammers for Chap 5, at least she died in Chap 4 so she survived half way through the killing game to be useful enough for the cast, Chihiro died in chap 2 but Alter Ego is an IA, so it's like if he had survived till chap 4

alright, I gotta admit. this video is pure perfection. with the sprites of you/your OC, you talking about my favorite v3 character and overall the editing. I always think kirumi is painfully underrated, and even during her execution all hope left was taken from her, after she went through all that pain climbing, yet with the determination she had she kept going, sad part is if the escape was real on the surface she probably would die of blood loss before she could make communication with anyone if they were in the outside world. Great vid, Aeris! About how Kirumi went about hiding the body, I think what she did didn’t necessarily dig her own grave the moment she decided to move the body. Kirumi was trying to obfuscate the actual murder scene to make the others think the murder happened in the gym instead of Ryoma’s lab. She even misled everyone into thinking this was the case and she was only thwarted starting from when Maki told her own opinions on it. Sure, the handcuffs gave it away, but Shuichi’s fear of the truth would’ve prevented him from ever figuring it out. Plus, she was also trying to hide the real time of death (something the Monokuma File kinda already did for her). Speaking of her murder, I’m impressed by how she went covering most of her bases; if it weren’t for the black fabric, the only evidence Shuichi could’ve used to declare Kirumi the blackened was the alibis for yesterday + abrasions on the windowsills. Even with the back route of alibis for nighttime, she was able to narrow down any accusation against her to circumstantial evidence, at best, with the only physical evidence being the culprit standing on the windowsill, which _could’ve been anyone_ at the time.

Even tho Angie is my favorite character Kirumi is my favorite Culprit. I just love how much she "helps" in her own trial, for me , she was being very, very helpful during the trial. A lot of culprits tend to blend in until they are called out , or just say stupid things. But Kirumi its one of the students who are dictating the rhythm of the discussion. I really have no idea that it was her until the last moment , and I loved that.

Monokuma actually saying Kirumi’s name leading into her punishment (“Now, I’ve a very special punishment, for Kirumi Tojo, The Ultimate Maid.”), instead of forcing the player to read that segment, only further cements that she’s a bit different than other characters. Between her retaliating, running and fighting for her even during the 8-bit execution segment was nauseating, and much more true to how a lot of people would try to come to grips with their impending death. It was refreshing and it certainly makes her feel more real than just her 2D character portraits. I think this video gave me a new appreciation for Kirumi, so good vid, AERIS! You always outdo yourself

I was drawn to her character because of the perseverance in her execution. When she’s climbing up the rope with the thorns at lighting speed and the spikes come in she has a look of sadness and I can relate. Like at that point why? I would of just let go and died but she did not she keep climbing and even got to the end before dying. Her death says a lot about her and that’s why she is one of my favorite.

Spoilers Chihiro just wanted to get stronger and face his fears Mondo genuinely regretted his actions and accepted his death and wasn't a bad person Mahiru got framed and tried to make amends even though both Natsumi and pre 2-3 Fuyuhiko treated her like shit and she died standing up for her beliefs Peko was a victim of her tool mindset and pre 2-3 Fuyuhiko being a violent little brat and her final words show that she felt remorse over her actions Ryoma had nothing to live for despite being a good guy and died broken and alone And Kirumi while she betrayed the class hated every second of her crime and i mean a country over 13 people its not a fun choice so i agree

I found it hard to put into words why I like Kirumi besides the base reasons. This shows why I do: she may present herself as professional, but she has some really wholesome and beautiful moments that make her human. She takes pride in her work and has limits that make her more than a puppet. I respect the fact she has assertiveness but is also the most noble character in the whole of Danganronpa. She has a great design, what I feel is the best execution (the brutality and uniqueness is what I like), I love her willpower and strength during her execution (seriously how she managed to put up with what she did was INSANE and I massively respect it because I am not that fit). Thank you for giving me more of a reason to call Kirumi Tojo my 4th fav character in the whole series. And thanks for showing she’s not a Mary Sue which some of this fandom thinks she is. Which now that I think about it, makes it all the more troubling when some ppl in the fandom feel like she deserved to be killed off.

Man I always loved Kirumi. She was like the older sister I've always wanted. I don't really blame her for what she did because she had to for the sake of her citizens. Just seeing her execution was brutal. Her desire and dedication for others was her downfall. I will miss her deeply.

i definitely feel like you did her character justice with this video. you obviously did a lot of research (even into seemingly unrelated things like whether or not ryouma fought back) and i think your summary of her character being afraid of being abandoned and being perfect because of that was really compelling. analysis/commentary videos where the author is actually passionate about the topic/character they're talking about like this almost always end up being really interesting. and the video clips where you got that guy throwing the computer out the window and stefan karl along with the memes you add into the video are pretty funny. but also like i came here to listen to a person talk about something they love and something that is dear to them. not to listen about them complain endlessly about kokichi. its one thing to be like "kokichi is a poorly written character because..." because i know everything you say after that is going to be good and well-reasoned and another thing to just whine. people feel the same exact way you do about kirumi as they do with kokichi.

Kirumi has always been one of my favorite characters in v3 and though i havent played the game myself, her story arc and character overall is amazing just like many other danganronpa characters. Its kinda sad seeing her beeing shoved away into the 'forgoten characters' side so seeing you make a video focused around kirumi made me really excited! Amazing video as always, Aeris!! I like your content and honestly don’t want to stop watching you just because of your petty hatred for Kokichi, but it seems to come up every now and then and it’s frustrating. Kirumi’s execution is actually based on an old story where a demon helps a spider so he gets a spider web dropped down for him to climb out, all the other demons began to climb below him he shouted down telling them all that it was “all mine and only mine get offor it will break!” Him doing this caused the sipder web to snap and he fell back down and due to him being the furthest up when he fell he could not longer move while the other demons were still free enough to move so he suffered more still being conscious but couldn’t move. This is why I love her executions symbolism the spider webs on her design being reference to the kind thing the demon did, aswell as the web he climbed. Her motive being neutral just like the demons behavior. And lastly how desperate they both were and their important reasons, Kirumi willing to climb a rope of throns and being cut to escape. The demon whom was willing to deny freedom for others in order to climb out, both their motives were important, the demons reason is escaping hell and Kirumi’s reson being the entire population of Jaoan.

I absolutely adore chapter 2, the trial hit me right in the feels as I personally adored both Ryoma and Kirumi. In all honesty I was deadseat on Kokichi being the culprit for the majority of the trial, I honestly didn't want to accept that Kirumi had done what she did. I practically screamed when Ryoma was found in the piranha tank, he was by far my favourite character so seeing him die in such a gruesome way wasn't very pleasant. Kirumi being tbe culprite definitely added a new layer of sadness and tears to that. Anyways, this was a great analysis video. I completely agree with everything you said in this video (and I really appreciate the jabs at kokichi because he's absolutely horrible.) As you said, I honestly don't understand why someone would make such a complex story and a whole fandmade execution (and body discovery announcement) when they knew full well that Himiko died and Kokichi was the culprit.

I agree with your sentiment that not every character needs some grand importance in the story, and it's especially fitting for Kirumi. I struggle with picking a favorite among V3's cast where I could more easily single out characters from among the other games, and it's strange to think that upon close inspection Kirumi may be my favorite character from the franchise entirely just because she's so unimportant in the grand scheme. She's just neat, her portrayal of the maid archetype is refreshing and her presence among the cast as someone both fairly sociable from the get-go while also not absolutely suffocating is even more so. I think if she'd survived past chapter 2, she could've developed among the cast in a very interesting way. Her role wouldn't change, she wouldn't want it to change; rather, everyone slowly gains a mutual understanding of her role and what it means to her. She is not a mother, she is a maid, and while servile she's deserving of respect (even to the point where one must understand that it is her duty to serve others and not some arbitrary choice she made for the fun of it). It would've made for a fun dynamic I think, simplistic in the way that it doesn't need to be overstated while still nuanced in that her place in the game is acknowledged and appreciated to its fullest. Also my favorites from DR1 and DR2 are Yasuhiro and Teruteru respectively because I am unabashedly tasteless.

Honestly your reaction to case two was my reaction to case four. I absolutely refused to believe Gonta was the killer until it was shoved in my face, I was adamant that Kokichi had to be the culprit until I finally accepted it was impossible, then I had to stop playing for the rest of the day and cried myself to sleep. Gonta was personally one of my favourite characters and I was certain he’d make it to the end because I thought even under coercion I thought he’d never hurt a fly.

I had a very similar experience to your experience with V3 - 2, in my case it was with SDR2 - 2, I absolutely loved every part about Peko, her design, her cold but rational personality, I managed to do all her free time events before the trial, and learning about her backstory and important person in life really hit me. She easily became my favorite character in the whole franchise, even after finishing V3. When the second trial happened, I remember it well, when it was the rebuttal showdown event from Peko about the water bottles used, I got very worried about it, and as long as the trial went, I was always in the back of my mind thinking that knowing her so well she would never commit murder, and after voting time when her motive was revealed, and her reason in life paired with her desire to always protect Fuyuhiko, it crushed me. I couldn't even look at her execution that day, and I still can't bring myself to see it or replay SDR2 - 2 even to this day. (even if from what i've been told she has one of the "better" executions) As for Kirumi, I love her a lot and saw her as the Peko of V3, turns out I was partially right but her character had way more depth than people make her out to be, great video explaining it.

As someone who Kirumi *isn't* my favorite character, I was surprised you left this out. Kirumi isn't necessarily important to the plot per se, but she is important to the *overall theme and tone* of V3. For me, and I think for most people playing V3, the moment when her motive is revealed makes you freeze and go like, "Wait... maybe we shouldn't have gotten this right." With such a big, sympathetic motivation, it's hard to feel anything negative towards her, despite killing Ryoma. Kaede was really sad and tragic, but you could make the case that she could've done something else, that she could've avoided surrendering to the killing game and come up with some sort of solution... etc. Kirumi, however, you look at her given "motive" and just go... "Damn, yeah, I can see why sacrificing all your classmates is a viable option." Kiyo is the most unsympathetic of any of the murderers, and coming immediately after Kirumi helps to sorta lessen the impact of what feels like a horrible tragedy that shouldn't have happened. But almost all the murders have some tragic motive element to them, Kirumi's probably the worst of them all. Her progressively more undignified, more desperate attempts to avoid being executed, culminating in attempting to flee like a madwoman, are indeed excruciating to watch. Honestly, even though I didn't want her to die, I do think that her motive and given backstory really helped her character. "Being a maid who serves people" was pretty uncompelling, and the little bits of personality that showed through in her free time events helped make her a character *and* a maid, but "the true culmination of the Ultimate Maid and ultimate serving of others" that is serving an entire country helps her really be a *maid character* who exemplifies why exactly it's so important to her. Taken to the logical extreme of "true devotion" is a very smart move. Throughout all of V3, these sympathetic motives and these tragic characters really begin to hammer in: "This is a fucked up situation, and this *shouldn't be happening* ." The characters deciding to try to end the killing game for good is ultimately a cumulation of all the horrible things that happened, all the lies that were given to each character, and hammering in how unjust the situation is. Kaede shouldn't have died. Gonta shouldn't have died. Kaito and Kokichi shouldn't have died. I mean, fuck Kiyo, but literally everybody else had motive or character that is really hard to look at and be like, "Yeah, this person *deserves* to die." The fact that it was a lie specifically intended to make someone kill someone else purely for entertainment value is *monstrous.* But yeah. Those are my thoughts. Kirumi was sorta shell-shocking to me while playing, and even though she wasn't really talked about again in-game, I think the ripple effects of her role and her execution can be felt through the rest of V3. The fact that it's so fucking sad and fucked up is I think really important to V3, and without Kirumi, it probably still would've been a good game, but it likely would've been less powerful.
