In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil talks Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose. Bose was one of the greatest Indian Scientist who simultaneously was a biologist, physicist, botanist and an early writer of science fiction. Bose started his career with research in the area of radio and microwave optics. He made significant contributions to plant science, and laid the foundations of experimental science in the Indian subcontinent. In 2012 IEEE named him one of the fathers of radio science. He also invented Crescograph, a device for measuring the growth of plants. He founded one of the oldest research institute of India, Bose Institute that was established in 1917. First time I read about Professor Jagdish Chandra Basu in 1987 when I was in fourth standard, it's was part of NCERT curriculum. Thanks to NCERT bacause I came to know about great people like Madam Query, Subhash Chandra Bose, Sarojini Naidu, Bhagat Singh, Chandrasekhar Azad, Pt. Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, Bal-Pal-Lal, Rani Lakshmi Bai, Mangal Pandey, Dr. Homi Bhabha Jehangir, Mahadevi Verma, Rahul Sankrityayan, Suryakant Tripathi Nirala, Hazari Prasad Dwivedi, William Shakespeare, Ruskin Bond and many more at such a young age. 🙏🙏🙏
