I was traveling through Azerbaijan( former Soviet Union Republic) .I went to this remote village up in the Caucasus mountains. While strolling through the street,I met an old couple. When I told them I was from India, the lady’s face lit up and she was like..”Hindistan? Raj Kapoor?? ..she hugged and kissed me and started humming this very song waving her hands in the air..All I could understand was Raj Kapoor,Raj Kapoor..Radio..” 😃My fellow traveller translated that Raj Kapoor used to be her biggest Crush and she still loves him.Never expected this people to know Indian Actors.

Mera Naam Jokar was a good movie. But very few liked it because of its huge length as well as different type of story-- the hero is left alone and old in the end, which then people couldn't like. So for a beginner, "Sri 420" and "Jagte Raho" are best from his own production. For other directors, his "Anadi" and "Teesri Kasam" are my favorite.

Whether it was introducing best technology in movies from time to time, first movie internationally released in kannes festival, establishing studios for movies which were used in many movies aprt from kapoor films, making many classic movies etc there are lot more thing they contribute to Indian cinema. Beside at that time our milestone for Indian cinema was letting movies recognized on international platform where internet wasn't there for general public and toady it is not big deal because lots of big budget movies released on international theatre.Russian girl was in mera Naam joker which was coloured movie. You should react to the song "ae dil hai mushkil jeena yaha, zara hat ke zara bach ke, yeh hai bambai meri jaan" featuring legendary Johnny Walker and yes he was named after the legendary Scoth brand as he used to play drunkard so perfectly that director actor late Guru dutt named him after the Scotch and he didn't even tasted alcohol in his life.

Prithvi Raj Kapoor (Seen in song from Mughal-E-Azam) his three sons 1. Raj Kapoor, 2. Shammi Kapoor, 3. Shashi Kapoor were all very very successful. Raj Kapoor is considered as the Showman of India. Almost all his movies had some social message. He was a huge star abroad specially in USSR. One of the greatest ever Indian actor, producer, director.

Although V Shnataram was one of the original movie maker, Kapoors are one of the oldest family in Hindi cinema. Prithviraj Kapoor (Actor playing emperor in Mughal-E-Azam) was the first one from that family. There are many, who are continuing the lineage - Kajol (Shobhna samarth's grand daughter).

King Harishchandra (Raja = king) is the movie created in 1913 by Dadasaheb Phalke after watching the 1906 movie "The life of Christ" . Story is that King Harishchandra always spoke truth and always kept his promises which resulted of him losing everything (including his family) and becoming a slave due to one promise. The movie has a happy ending though!

The movie Mera Naam Joker is an absolute gem. My dad made me watch it. I normally hate old movies because the audio and video quality is so bad. But man, that movie has the most iconic role of Raj Kapoor. The kind of role that makes great actors into legendary actors.
