Your footage is unbelievable! Thank you for sharing! I can't get over the intensity of Gene's performance. I think part of the magic of the demon was smaller, more intimate venues making for moments like the one starting at 2:06 when he would lock eye contact with a fan, stare them down with the empty eyes of something that's about to jump off the stage & eat them, making them squirm never letting them off the hook. 'Uncle Gene' does it with a wink and a smile.

There were no opening acts for the May 22nd (1976) show in Paris and KISS went on at 3pm! They had to be out of the venue by 6:30pm because a comedy act had the prime time slot. They sold only 2000 tickets to this show. What a difference from a year or two later!

We only have a very brief window in which we're at our prime, as KISS is in this video. In the case of KISS, the tail end of that period brought about a collapse for Ace and Peter.

Can you imagine blowing off a photo shoot or recording session so you can track down some random guy from a club who told you he has some Percocets at home you can have? In 1996 95% of Ace's time and efforts were spent trying to hide his voracious drug use from Gene and Paul. I've never looked at Ace the same way since reading Wendy's book.
