This record is the very first KISS anything I ever laid eyes on. My aunt and uncle got one of those 1970's electric fireplace / stereo / disco mirrored light up bar combos, and it came with 2-3 new records. This was one of them.

Got to love 70's rock and roll, when bands released 2 albums a year instead of 1 every time Haley's Comet came around. Production was better on this record compared to the 1st, but not by much. Loved Ace's smoking solo on "Parasite", the vocal melodies on "Mainline", and the main guitar riffs of "All The Way" and "Strange Ways".
@paulwortman4832 күн бұрын
What I don't get is... They all say Ace was out of his mind on whatever. So he couldn't play, but now that all these videos of live late 70s stuff. He always looks like he's playing all the notes and right there with everyone. So Ace definitely was the talent in the band!!!
@michaelseay97832 күн бұрын
Yeah, and why would they (Paul, Gene, And Bob Ezrin) claim (for decades) that Ace was too busy playing cards while they were recording Sweet Pain, and low and behold, Ace’s solo for Sweet Pain shows up decades later? 😂

KISS Hotter than Hell was the vinyl LP I wanted from the Simpson-Sears record department in the mid-70s. My 13 year old self couldn't afford the $5.99 Cdn price and I knew I couldn't bring home that album cover for my parents to see it. The costumes worn on that album back-cover were never realized in Kiss live shows at the time. Something true KISS fans in hindsight wished would have happened.

Hotter than Hell is a very special album to me. When I was 6yrs old I would sneak into my older brothers room and listen to it on 8 track. I can still remember when it clicked to track 2 the second half of Going Blind would fade in then it was time for Hotter than Hell. But it turned me into a major Kiss fan without even knowing about the make up or stage show. Just the music.

To this day I can't understand why "Hotter Than Hell" and the followup "Dressed To Kill" were recorded and mixed so awfully bad. Their debut album "Kiss" though not an audiophile's dream, still sounds a lot better than the 3 studio albums that followed... and I'm counting "Destroyer" as well. i wonder if KISS - or whoever owns them now, would agree to have these albums remixed so that the "wall of sound" crap gets taken away. They are such great albums, they deserve better.
