Watch any of his contemporary action movies
@bronzetiger6360 Жыл бұрын
@@realdealmind01 I don't count " The One" as it's sci fi and " sped up" to BE over the top." Unleashed" is a cool movie, but the action isn't supposed to be technical Martial arts, but vicious Physicality ,which is understood. " Romeo must Die" and Cradle to the Grave" are just " wire work" and Bull- shido"" . Terrible from an actual Martial arts standpoint. Besides " Kiss of the Dragon" , the only other film where he displays actual combative efficiency is LETHAL WEAPON 4. It takes mixing in some added expertise from others WITH his usual fight choreographer to create a more grounded style.
@realdealmind01 Жыл бұрын
@@bronzetiger6360 Since you were being unclear with your point, let me rephrase mine. In terms of real, actual combat onscreen, Jet Li's movies in general aren't ones to discuss since you just mentioned one single movie that has the realistic look (it's still not completely realistic though) to sell the fight choreography. The reason for this is simple: Jet Li is a taolu wushu practitioner, and has little to no training and knowledge in practical fighting styles. He let other people choreograph his fight scenes too: All of whom saw the best potential in showcasing Jet's skills onscreen: Making them look flashy and exaggerated for overdramatic effect. Anyway, my point is that Jet Li has done movies outside of his wirework-filled action movies where he relied on his mere physical skills. Dragon Fight, The Master, The Bodyguard From Beijing, My Father Is A Hero, High Risk, Hitman, Lethal Weapon 4, Kiss Of The Dragon, Unleashed. These movies are far from realistic but nevertheless features Jet Li's real physical skills to the point of the action being plausible.
@bronzetiger6360 Жыл бұрын
@@realdealmind01 Then allow me to " be CLEAR".....No WIRE WORK, NO SPEEDY CAM, NO QUICK CLIP EDITS. Those are ( to me) BAD Martial Arts movies. When I say " more real", I mean "IN THE REALM OF POSSIBILITY". Where I have myself witnessed mere " street dudes" successful against multiple attackers, And witnessed knockouts and headlicks in real fights, I HAVE NEVER SEEN PEOPLE " HOVER" IN THE AIR for extended periods of time, nor move with SUPERSPEED......THATS " PHONEY FU". Ip Man1, The Raid 1-2, Blood And Bone, and the Undisputed films are what I mean when I say " more grounded"....Clear now?? Cool. I saw every one of those movies you named and thought that the " special effects" RUINED THEM and turned them to utter garbage. That YOU liked them is cool, But for super powers.....I 'll go Watch the Avengers. Peace.

Jet Li in this movie is really kind of an anti-Jackie Chan (who himself is an anti-Bruce Lee, so i guess this movie is in some ways a modern day Bruce Lee film??). While Chan is known for being kind of a silly, bumbling guy who doesn’t take himself too seriously, Jet Li is 100% a stoic badass here. If faced with this same situation, Chan would have smiled awkwardly at all those police karateka and tried to talk his way out of it, only to be forced to beat them all with unconventional weapons and tactics. Whereas here, Jet Li goes after them head on and takes their own weapons and uses it against them.
