On this episode of the Kit & Krysta Podcast, we'll be diving deep into the latest Direct and analyzing all the news and discussing how Nintendo is really setting itself up for a massive holiday season. I think the reason Prime 4 was shown after Metroid Prime remastered is pretty obvious... they both use the same graphical engine, you can see the lineage. Prime 2 and 3 were reportedly not given the similar treatment but are just more upscaled ports than the graphical engine overhaul the first Prime got.

For me that wise, MP4 reveal wasn't that mind-blowing. MP 1 remastered was mind-blowing back then and mp4 trailer was "just" awesome. Difficult to explain 😅 if there wasn't mp1 remastered, MP4 trailer would much more a mind blowing thing

For context for those who don't know about Sylux, he did indeed debut in Metroid Prime: Hunters, but since his inception, it has been heavily implied that something more is going on with the character and that Tanabe/Retro Studios have a fascination with him. In his character bio, it's said that he holds a deep animosity towards the Galactic Federation and, more importantly, Samus for unknown reasons. Then, if you get the true ending to Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, you get an end scene where Samus flies away in her gunship, with the scene then cutting to Sylux's ship eventually tailing her. Then, in Metroid Prime: Federation Force, there is another end scene where we see Sylux infiltrating a Galactic Federation facility to hatch a baby Metroid. Basically, Sylux has been built up since 2006-2007 to have some sort of vendetta and plan against Samus and the Galactic Federation. He's kinda been set up for all this time sort of like the MCU with Thanos. The reason it's cool is because, yeah, he is kinda a "nothing" character in that he's mysterious, and he's essentially a background character that Tanabe has been very interested in exploring. It's just neat that Retro are following this plot point years later! But yeah, there's not too much to the guy, though I'm sure the game will catch people up on any necessary information.

My theory for a minute has been Kit and krysta have been having some insider info to Nintendo next console in general because they were so sure that it was gonna drop this year. You're completely off about Ace Attorney Investigations. 1) Mile's Edgeworth's main difference is that he's a prosecutor, as opposed to a defense attorney. 2) The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is the collection that takes place in the past, not Ace Attorney Investigations Collection. 3) Ace Attorney Investigations Collection takes place between Ace Attorney 3 (Trials and Tribulations) and Apollo Justice. (aka AA4)

Nintendo had the best presentation out of everyone in our opinion. A new Mario and Luigi with a great art style, getting a physical release for Miles Edgeworth Collection, the long list of RPGs, DKC Returns HD, Metroid Prime 4 being alive and looking great and wow, that Princess Zelda game. Nintendo is so smart - using her Wisdom, in contrast to Link's Courage, she will save Hyrule by giving the player an infinite amount of options to solve puzzles and defeat or bypass enemies. I don't even play Mario Party and that game looked huge. Add in some third parties like a heavily requested Marvel vs. Capcom Collection and Nintendo just delivers on the fun experiences for gamers. There is a lot to play before a Switch 2 even reveals.

I have so so many thoughts. Mario and Luigi is a series I thought was dead and buried, and to see it back, in THIS great a style... it makes me so happy. I have a suspicion this is by Next Level, which is probably my favorite Nintendo-owned studio (beside EPD obviously), because the animation and character on display is just ridiculous. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is a childhood game I never thought I'd be able to play again, much less with Rollback online, and the sheer hope it gives for yet another series I'd accepted as dead is so amazing. Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom looks like it injects a lot of Breath of the Wild's open-ended DNA into the 2D formula, which I'm sure will piss some people of, but for me it looks so great, not to mention Zelda finally gets her due. And Metroid Prime 4 finally existing in the flesh, with gameplay no less, is more surreal than I thought it'd be. I guess 8 years really does make a game illusive. So much for Nintendo "Phoning it in" the final year. A+ Direct

In fairness to Digital Foundry that specific piece of Rears of The Kingdom footage wasn't indicative of how it ran in game. They mentioned it again recently as rare example of Nintendo not typically doing that sort of thing, where a trailer is totally accurate to in-game. They're actually always complimentary on how Nintendo gets the machine to punch above its weight and why Prime is absolutely running on Switch hardware. Always hate when ppl casually rag on them. 41:46 I'm hoping Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is no more than $40. Metroid Prime Remastered is $40 MSRP, and a lot more work was put into that effort than what they showed of DKCR. Kit's a little off base calling out PMTTYD because that also had a ton of work put into it. On the other hand, Luigi's Mansion 2 is also $60 with a seemingly similar amount of work as DKCR. So... 🤷

Nintendo should go hard with a Switch Lite + Voucher bundle. 2 games and a console for $200 would be a way for lapsed Switch owners to get back into using it. If you Bought a launch switch but fell off, there are alot of games that have come out recently they may have missed. Also good for families, or for people who own a switch but would also like a switch lite. You could do it with the regular switch but i think the idea of "getting a switch for only $100" is so impulse worthy

I was rooting for Kit for Metroid Prime 4 to be announced. June 2024 is one of the better directs we had since 2021. A mix of old and new stuff. Forget Super Mario Party, we got Jamboree! Zelda being playable is a dream come true. The long delay has paid off and Kit with his happiest face of giving Krysta a pie to the face vs getting all his hair cut off. There were more Ice Climber and Kirby shenanigans in the Nintendo World Championships NES Edition trailer. Popo gets an S rank in Shivery Start, which is immediately followed by Kirby defeating Meta Knight. In America, Popo beats Kirby in Survival Mode, but in Japan, Kirby beats Popo. Hopefully the mew Ice Climber game by HAL Laboratory Nintendo seemed to have been hinting at is a reality.

IDK about won, but I like the fact they 1) Have new games incoming and 2) they're coming this year. Xbox did a good job in bringing back some of their IPs, but having to wait an extra year is a disservice to the millions in their player base. And Sony...well, the State of Play just plain sucked. And give it 2-3 months and they'll announce a $600 "Pro" model that no one needs or wants. They're becoming increasingly out of touch with players.

“No two people will play this game the same” is exactly why I’m bummed out about the new Zelda. I hated BotW and TotK because I liked the more linear puzzle design in dungeons because I love the solutions the developers come up with and I feel that “aha” moment when I solve it. I love 2d Zelda’s because of their tight puzzle design but now this feels like it’ll just be like BotW where you can just cheese everything

Metroid Prime 4 footage definitely looked Switch. Fairly low resolution and some slowdown. Who says it will be on Switch 2 at the same time? Nintendo won't announce any plans until March 2025, meaning Switch 2 could be a full year further away!

"June Announcement Season" is so funny i like how dunkey still called it "E3 2024" lots of cool stuff most of which wont be played LMAO but this time of year is always fun to see everyone talking about GAMEZ that new astro bot game looks cool hopefully comes with the PS5 Pro, the Indiana Jones game on Xbox is also looking neat and faithful to the charm of those movies, that new Mario and Luigi game has a weird artstyle idk if i vibe with it, paper mario is much more distinct, that new zelda game is contentious since they're continuing with the "million different ways to solve a puzzle" idea, but what i think a lot of long time fans forget is that nintendo makes games for children and today's children are not as patient as kids in the 90's who had nothing but time to solve zelda puzzles, with games like minecraft and fortnite that give younger players an infinite amount of choices i feel nintendo's design philosophy towards zelda is very smart and is essentially growing a new audience that will feel nostalgic for the current games in twenty years, and metroid, even tho everyone is saying looks good, LOL it looks like that marvel's avengers game that came out a few years ago that not a lot of people liked. ALSO i had a realization since the xbox studio closures or whatever and how people were reporting how big and bad xbox is for doing it, how youtubers and other media outlets will still report on and comment on the xbox brand, i guess to keep up the paychecks and tug the audience more and more and im kind of sick of that not here with you guys but with other channels who denounce xbox or whatever and act all high and mighty then they go ahead and go crazy over the new announcements like nothing happened idk its kind of lame, "media's" never ending spewing of nonsense and the audience doesn't seem to care as long as they keep having internet videos to watch LOL rant over #nintendowonorwhatever

It's disappointing to hear you guys dismiss Metroid Prime: Hunters and all of the work that Nintendo Software Technology did on that game in Redmond, WA back in 2006. That game has had a strong competitive multiplayer following for 18 years now. Here's hoping you guys learn more about it in the future!

It's strange when people insist on Nintendo making a game a certain way that's the same as a previous game they've played. For me, it's always been "just make a good game". For instance, I don't care if the next Paper Mario game follows the original formula, and IMO, that wasn't the problem with Paper Mario: The Origami King; it was more that the new fighting mechanics were kind of annoying, and too stressful for a turn-based RPG; that, and the bosses lacked personality.

THIS!!!! Why do you want a Zelda game where Zelda plays like Link?? Just keep playing as Link in that case. Just make a good game. I can play Fifa/COD/Just Dance if I want to play the same game every year.
