I really like the retro look. I built a pistol with a 10" barrel (SBA3 brace), but I used an upper with a handle, the A-2 sight tower and triangle hand guards - no optics allowed. It wasn't meant to "legitimately copy" anything. I just wanted to give it that "old school" vibe. I get a lot of complements on it. It does fine with a 55 gr. bullet (varies with manufacturers), and it's always a blast to shoot. It's a fun gun.

I love the early Colt carbines. I sourced a Colt SP1 upper a while back and built it into a 630 a.k.a. GAU-5A/A clone. It's real similar to this one, but lacks a forward assist and shell deflector. Super cool and fun to shoot.

back in the late eighties the boss would let us take a bunch of full autos out once a year. we would take them from california to nevada for a demo to a friendly sheriff’s dept. they really needed an m3, bar , xm177 etc. the truck we hauled them in had a locker in the bed with chains and locks. his truck was running hot over donner pass so we pulled over to let it cool down. a chp pulled up and asked if we needed help. he then asked what was in the locker and we said machine guns. he looked at us funny and then we showed him the paper work. we could tell he wanted a look so we opened it up and showed him. he was a gun guy and had a ball looking at all the guns. the passerby’s got an eyeful that day.

I don’t know if you remember this but back in the day DPMS used to make the “kitty kat” and I wanted it so bad. It was their super short SBR with the carry handle and flash hider. But it was an SBR and before knowing anything about the NFA process was a daunting task.

I don't recall the brand name of the wrap, it is just a camouflage weapon tape. Easy to put on, easy to take off.

I have two built clones , one has the Wyndham weaponry w/ A1 rear sights Canadian basically transition rifle , one just like I had in the early 90s that were still floating around the US military , one is a 177 clone I'm wanting this one pretty bad

I have several AR's and my BRN-XM177 is my favorite. The accuracy really is OK. I've shot several 10-shot strings from benchrest and gotten anywhere from 1.1 to 2 MOA with the iron sights (Mean Radius--NOT Extreme Spread), which is really pretty good for non-free floated barrel and iron sights with the short sight radius.

The only thing wrong with the clone is the butt stock is plastic instead of metal like the originals. If you can find an original stock it would look great but might cost about as much as the rifle itself.

@ 4:55 is it just me watching on a phone in the bathroom or does it look like there is some upward barrel deflection from the front rest to you guys too? I would be all over one of these if everyone together would stand and defy the ATF and other blatantly obvious unconstitutional infringement agencies (all cops and federal enforcement, IRS etc) and i wouldnt be hassled for having one withOUT pinning that damned thing onto a barrel and RUINING an otherwise awesome rifle!
