Awesome! I made a stormlord myself from a tamiya 1/32 churchill, used the mega bolter bit from my baneblade kit sprue and a bit of plasticard to get it on the turret, then cut the engine deck out and made a plasticard firing deck with a hatch to go into the hold, and had the heavy bolters mounted in the hull and as a remote roof mount. Still my proudest kitbash and serves my ww2 commonwealth guard regiment well to this day

Love that! I'm a big fan of scale military models and I'm actually working on some 1/35 sci-fi figure kitbashes right now... admittedly they're pretty low on the priority list to get finished though. My second baneblade kitbash actually uses the same main tank that this one did, but with the top bit of an M3 melded into the hull

I like it better than the actual baneblade. Nice build. Has given me some really good ideas.

A neat conversion!I quite like the turret building technique. I imagine that foam + putty could work really well if you want a big cast style turret. I personally rescued a half converted baneblade from ebay. Then spent about the same amount of money I had saved making it into a real beast.
@green_zebra_crafting8 ай бұрын
Yeah sometimes these projects get a bit pricier than expected, but hey at least it got you something unique instead of paying that money to get the same baneblade that everyone else puts on a table You're right this would probably ly be great for cast turrets. I'm thinking in the future I'm going to use the foam to build the main blocks of something like a leman russ and then use plasticard/printed parts/the bits box to enclose and embellish it.

THE TANK ROCKS!!! I have to got a couple of those kits for my guard and traitor guard armies. I can't 3D print a Baneblade tank that cheap short of using supper crappy sub-par resin and not having a massive print fail. (never happens with that stuff) I do print a lot of my stuff but I will ALLWAYS go for a kitbash any day of the week. There is just something awesome about taking a this and turning it into a kick A that! I loved it that you said you were a kit bashing and scenery guy and not a high end painter. We all paint but we are not all master painters. Personally, I have far more fun making the stuff than I do painting it.

I use those exact nail files for my Gundam models lol Also for the damage that was done by the spray paint to the turret, Cut some Cracks or more dents into it And say it's battle damage from a previous fight
@green_zebra_crafting9 ай бұрын
That seems to be a popular opinion about the turret. I'm really glad that I shared this because it's a fresh perspective that I hadn't considered while I was just seeing "a mistake that I made" and now I'm going to lean into the Battle damage aspect when I revisit this model to do weathering. Thank you!
@earlware43228 ай бұрын
@@green_zebra_craftingYeah, I learned this trick from back in my tank modeling days (decades ago now...damn I'm getting old 🫤). Anyway, as long as the damage isn't structural it can be turned into "battle damage". A little dry brush, some weathering powders and viola, one tough sob tank that survived its previous encounter with the bad guys.

I'm kinda wanting to convert a toy tank into an Ork Killtank. Also where can I find some plastic yard signs?
@green_zebra_crafting9 ай бұрын
I get mine from walmart in the hardware department, but they're usually available in any hardware store as well. Some smaller shops have switched to cardstock but most big box stores still sell the plastic ones. At least in the US. Toybashing ork vehicles is wicked fun, if you haven't seen them yet you should look up Scratch Bashing on youtube, he does a ton of ork builds
@benscerri64728 ай бұрын
Wait... The US Army officially licenses _toys_?! That's _wild_.
@green_zebra_crafting8 ай бұрын
It's really something, isn't it? I have to assume that it's part of their long term recruiting strategy... make the army cool and fun for kids so it's easier to convince them to join up as teens. The army also used to have officially licensed paintball gun, the innards were all Tippmann brand so they were good reliable markers and you could get them at a decent discount if you didn't mind buying the version that had army logos all over it

@green_zebra_crafting11 ай бұрын
I'm not sure, all of the branding just showed US Army logos so I assume they paid extra to keep the manufacturer from putting their logo on it, didn't think to check the fine print or licensing info on the box though. If I come across another I'll check the box and update
@dimensiontheprotogenuwu25058 ай бұрын

@SonySteals8 ай бұрын
Really nice looking bash but that’s actually an expensive toy I have to admit. Including the extra stuff? Man, that’s not a cheap stuff.
@green_zebra_crafting8 ай бұрын
Well the savings of a 17 dollar toy vs a 170 dollar official baneblade are huge even if you need to spend a few more bucks to finish it up- and having a lot of the extra bits on hand is just part of being a hobbyist anyway- I didn't need to buy a land raider for those sponson weapons, I had them in the bits box from the last raider kit I built. The one tube of modeling putty will last me probably years, the yard sale sign was 2 bucks and will be used in several projects, the foam was an offcut from making my game table, the chaos bits are again from the bits box since I've been playing chaos for years and don't throw a ton of sigils on any one model. The list goes on but this build really cost me less than 30 bucks including the materials that I'll keep using beyond this build. Not to mention, sometimes the bash isn't only about saving money- sometimes you just want a unique model.

thats an odd placement for those two tow hooks....
@green_zebra_crafting9 ай бұрын
It sure is! I wish that I had a clever answer, probably something along the lines of "Don't forget that this thing is a massive moving fortress, putting the tow hooks on the far ends from each other would actually make them TOO far apart for towing normal sized vehicles, and it's ok that they're off center because the enormous mass of a Baneblade would prevent, say, a Rhino or Chimera from being able to pull it off-kilter due to uneven tow hooks" But the real reason is that I didn't really think about it while greebling lol. Paying more attention to these sort of details is a goal of mine, since it will improve my ability to make good looking models. I did make the tow hooks on the next Baneblade build a bit more evenly placed than these ones were. Thanks for watching!

I strongly recommend NOT buying forgeworld kits but buying resin knockoffs, 3d print or kitbashing as 500$ for a poor resin forgeworld kit really isnt realistic. The one I received was crooked and required hours and hours to get to a reasonable state and a lot of it had to be remodeled with greenstuff or kitbashing to even fit together.
@green_zebra_crafting8 ай бұрын
That has also largely been my experience with any GW or forgeworld resin, sadly. But luckily the opportunities for kitbashing and modelling from other sources are endless!
