Wow where to start, I somehow never saw the map of Armageddon, now I understand why helsreach panned out the way it did. I’d also call it the “secret, first war”, the “first war”, and the “second war” of Armageddon, given only the space wolves know of it outside the ordo malleus. Also I’m not necessarily scared of resin I really just don’t have the space, and kinda prefer plastic. But those spacenam figures look great for this stuff, I might pick up the sprue kit. Very nice army men reference as well, and the watermelon scheme honestly fits perfectly, I bet if orks knew about watermelons they’d love em. This video is peak lichs lab.
@TheLichsLaboratory3 ай бұрын
Yeah space is definitely a factor in printing. I don't even have a dedicated space for it myself. I've gotta tear down and set up my space each time I need to print which is a hassle. Going forward, I'm gonna try to mention some alternatives or plastic substitutes for things if it's possible, just to give people as many options as possible. And yes, I bet Orks would love watermelons 😂

Using spice for base reminds me of a video I saw years ago. Mixing tea leaves and crushed cinnamon to try and make a jungle base. I don't really care for the ork hunters but I do like that they exist. Showing you can make more than just catachanners with the models. Kinda like how armageddon steel legion shows how you can make more than just death korps with the krieg models.

Thank you for covering my favourite Regiment ! I didn't go as far as to replicate the watermelon skin camo on mine, but watching your video it has become tempting to revisit their color scheme. I used shots from the movie Apocalypse Now as a reference material for the infantry but my favourite part of converting this army was by far making "looted back" tanks and vehicles. Some say the Ork Hunters have become their worst enemy but their forget something : greenskins don't surf.

9:30 Please tell me you're still taking precautions to keep the resin from contaminating anything. You're not just washing the minis in the sink and pouring the resin contaminated water down the sink, are you? Water-washable resin is still just as bad as regular resin, and you still need to take the same safety precautions as you do with regular resin. The only difference is that you can use water instead of harsh solvents, and you can't just pour the resin water down the sink. That can poison the groundwater and cause serious damage to local wildlife.
@TheLichsLaboratory3 ай бұрын
Nah it's just easier to dump it straight into the water. Cuts out the middleman 😏 But for real, I have a 5 gallon bucket for washing resin minis in. All the water collects in the bucket that I place in the sink, then I cure it and scoop/chip out the resin to toss in the bin once the water settles enough to separate from the resin. It's not a perfect process but I do manage to catch most of the resin

Nice how to on Armageddon Ork Hunters. It really is a niche on that world, compared to the Steel Legion, with only 5 regiments in strength so maybe 20,000 Guardsmen at the start of 3rd Armageddon, and who knows how many by the close of that campaign. Perhaps with Angron back on the planet and Yarrick (supposedly) dead, Armageddon will get more of a spotlight in the Imperial Guard Codex this edition, and Armageddon Ork Hunters to go with it. They have to bring out new plastic Jungle Fighters sometime, right?

You've probably answered this before... so I'm sorry, but what kind of 3D printer do you use? and what program do you use alongside it? I want to get into printing my own mini's, and the program I see you use seems... easy enough?? thanks for making such great videos!! It's nice to see someone dig into niche lore like this...
@TheLichsLaboratory3 ай бұрын
When I first started printing, the most popular standard printer was the Anycubic Photon. I've since upgraded but I still have as a secondary printer and I've never had an issue with it. For my slicing program, I use Chitubox, which has a simple interface and has handled anything I put in it. Keep in mind that when you start printing, you WILL mess up at some point. As easy as printing is these days, learning simple skills like how to apply manual supports, support removal, and other troubleshooting skills are very valuable. 3d printing is a skillset at its core and it's pretty easy, but expecting something plug-and-play is a little misguided. Also try water washable resin at some point. A lot easier to clean and you're not reliant on buying IPA constantly
@blitzenforcer71233 ай бұрын
@@TheLichsLaboratory Wow!! Thank you so much!! Yeah, I was willing to accept that it wasn't going to be as easy as magic, but I don't want to have to spend too much time learning a complicated 3D modeling Program. Please keep having fun printing some boys!!!
@TheLichsLaboratory3 ай бұрын
@@blitzenforcer7123 Of course friendo! When you (and myself lol) get up to sculpting your own stuff, look into learning 3d sculpting in Blender. There are tons of tutorials for making your own 3d models there and the program is free to boot. You could also use Meshmixer as well, which I use to do very minor tweaks and adjustments on occasion, but it does support full sculpting as well. Hope that helps you out a little, bro. And thanks for the support! 😁👍
