I've been pretty happy with my 40k Nightlords with 4 boxes of Legionaries and 4 boxes of raptors becoming 15 Legionaries, 15 chosen and 5 characters and 5 havocs 15 raptors and 5 warp talons with a bit of conversions mainly thanks to the raptors with the lighting claws that where left over and a ton of green stuff for the flayed Cadian blankets I made for my chosen and characters. Kit bashing is a majorly fun element of the hobby and combine that with a 3d printer for some helmets, shoulder pads and mulitlated remains for the bases it makes any army relatively cheap.

this was a great video! extremely well paced and great cinematography! im not a huge fan of night lords but i do play some rather brutal black legion. some great sauces of brutal looking accessories ive found are from the soulblight gravelords and alot of AOS death kits. again great vid!

I’ve used Tartarus termie arms for soooo many powerfists, since almost every model in the unit has 1 ranged weapon 1 power fist but they all have the option for double fist you get so many right hands that you can use on legionaries, raptors etc.

the way I see it, the matter of using aftermarket parts comes down to two factors: 1. does games workshop do the kit/bits 2. can you get that kit/bits at this moment in time direct from GW? if not, then don't feel guilty about using any bits from ANY source to make your vision come to life. I recently printed out an Iron Wariors chaos lord in cataphracti armour because it wasn't represented by any kits GW currently does and it only cost me 5 bucks for the files, but I'm still going to use GW's official kits most of the time because 3d printing is still a hassle of its own to contend with

For chainglaives, I'd also highly recommend Tortuga Gamestable. They're a Ukrainian based 3rd party seller with amazing resin models. They've got a lot of things that the legions may want and they look great to boot

I kitbashed a chainglaive by using parts from a stormcast eternal Paladin for the stick and then two chainswords glued back to back and then glued to the upper hand for the glaive. I think for 30k you could do a chainsword with brass rox extending the grip

Don't feel like it's a problem. Because your still paying for the host game. The host model. 3rd party bits were never a problem till people started having printers at home. But this is why I don't play office tourneys anymore. It's not fun and you lose out. Why because 1 guys can sculpt with green stuff I can't on icad?

Printing bitz, buying 3rd party is fair game. It's called competition, the life blood of capitalism. If Gw doesn't like it, they need to reduce the price of their aging product, or be destroyed by those who can produce equal quality for less than 50% of what they delusionally charge.
