Well said. That’s why we all love this hobby. It lets us use our imagination! Thanks for watching!

Your kit-bashing efforts came out really well. The little incidental details, like power panels, gas meters, light fixtures, weeds and foliage, etc. really add to the authentic appearance. Thanks for sharing this detailed video with us.

I actually thought the background was actual kit, not a photo. Fooled me well enough from this end. Walther’s kits are handy for turning them into something other than the recommended build! Nice work.

Cheers! Agree the Walthers kits are great despite their pricing.

Nice looking buildings and if you white was silver it gives you that industrial rain beaten look. Also you can add almost anything in detail to those roofs. I go up on the real ones and its complete chaos with wiring , vents , tubes , and other unused components

Thanks. You’re right there is a lot of junk on the roofs of commercial buildings. Over time I’ll look at prototype pics and add more. Thanks for watching!

Great use of this kit. I'm starting to take pieces from my similar Walthers kit. The buildings turned out well!

Great inspiration Paul. You have helped expand my thought process on kitbashing and placement of industry on my layout as well. Thx Dave

Really interesting, Paul. The Walthers kits are really versatile. I used the cold storage one as the basis for McBains Foods on my layout and, as you say, you get lots of bits to use elsewhere. Lee

I’ll have to go back and look at how you used it in your videos. Good to know. Thanks Lee!

Neat modification! I have the same kit. Was going to build as is until I realized two 64' reefers would not fit at the doors. Added a panel between the doors, and made it a background building instead. Walthers does seem to make their kits with kit bashing in mind. Lucky for us! Also nice detail for power supply to your buildings.

Thanks! Yeah I had to tweak it in order to get 2 rail car doors. They do make it easy to kitbash. Thank you for watching!

I have the Walthers modern concrete warehouse background building and it had leftover walls to build another building. Nice kits

Thanks for your response on your layout height Paul B. Mine will be 24” deep and I’m only 5’10, we won’t discuss the weight….LOL. You’re probably taller. It looks like you’re reaching back to the backdrop with ease.
@HartfordWhaler3 ай бұрын
24” is good. I think 18-22” is ideal personally. That provides easy access which helps with building and op’s. If you don’t have the room for length, then a deeper layout may be necessary. At 12’x20”, I get a lot of operations from my layout. Thanks for the comments and for watching!

The cold storage kit looks great Paul, I wonder if the have any Dylington Custard stored there or maybe it's stored elsewhere ready for distribution. We enjoyed the video again...cheers James 🙂👍

They do have some in there. It’s waiting to be offloaded into lorries and shipped to market!

@@HartfordWhaler right, it's store away safely then Paul. That's reassuring to know 😁👍

Layout is looking really good Paul - looks like its finished, any thoughts / plans on expanding ?? or does the layout room say NO !!
@HartfordWhaler3 ай бұрын
There is room. I just have to rationalize it. And budget for it. Lots more to do with details and operations on the current layout. I’ll find a way to keep loading content ;)
