The scratch-built fence looks great, and the end that's taken a beating from a collision is a really nice touch that just adds to its realism. Having that separation between the main and yard/sidings makes the layout look a little bigger too. I guess, like many things, commercially available fencing is convenient, but for me scratch-building to precisely suit the location gives a greater sense of satisfaction. During a recent trip to our supermarket we found they were selling fine mesh bags for fruit and veg that have smaller holes and finer material than the usual wedding tulle. I bought some to experiment with as fencing material. It may be too fragile, but if it can handle carrying fruit and veg I'm hoping it will survive being made into a fence too.

Thanks for the comment and for watching. Agree - scratch building does allow you to suit the location better. Let me know how the mesh bag works. One of my favorite things about this hobby is finding ordinary things that happen to work great for the layout. Cheers!

Very interesting... I mean the whole thing all together. There are many industrial layouts online but it's interesting how you've putted everything in such a small space. I always liked chain link fences. It's gives a very industrial look to a scene. The abandoned track is awesome too. I'll subscribe to your channel. Thanks for sharing your work with us.

The scratch fence seems like a lot of work but I like the tore up parts. I wonder if I can take my photo etch nippers and do the same with my Alkem? Appreciate you trying the different options. Imma stick to my Alkem till I run out 🙂

Alkem is great. And yes I think you can mangle Alkem. I just haven’t tried…yet.
