Kitbashing with the new Terminators: which old Terminator kits can you use? And Terminator headswaps

The new terminator kits are out for a bit now and I've been having some fun with them. I mixed in some older Terminator parts and got some questions on what parts are still compatible with the new kit. So here's a couple of test builds to see what work and what doesn't: Old Terminator plastics, Deathwing Knights parts, Chaos Terminator kits, Grey Knight bits, and even some Tartaros and Cataphractii for good fun. At the end I show you how to do some headswaps with other (non-Terminator) kits as well. Hope you like it!

This was excellent, perfect timing. I was looking at creating some custom converted terminators for my marines. Was wondering about the Grey Knight terminator arms (love the wrist mounted storm bolter design), but now that I've seen what they can look like with the Cataphractii terminator arms I might have to go with that route. Plan is to trim off all the "Imperial Post Heresy" decorations so that I could play these guys as both my 40k Marines and as my Iron Hands Gorgon Terminators. Thanks again.

Good to hear! Mixing up armour types can give some very interesting and cool effects, definitely recommend messing around with them a bit. But this should at least give an idea of what might work at all, and what definitely doesn't. Good luck with your project, and have fun as well! Sounds like a cool idea.

Excellent find, exactly what I was looking for. I have a mix of classic Termies and recently got the newer ones and was wondering how all the parts could fit together. The Cataphractii pads really look cool!

I think these kind of video's might be my favorite. Very informative! Would definitely be interested in watching similar ones for other popular kits (or kits you are working on, because that would make the most sense for you of course).

@@dehoofdwerker From a popularity standpoint any of the intercessor kits, for me personally the most recent MKIII kit. Will get back to you if I think of other options.

@@Wijkert yeah I was thinking about the mkiii and mkvi as well, but as you get 4x the same sprue in those boxes I find it kind of hard to justify the 60€ price tag. I’m looking around to see if someone has one of each sprue laying around.

Thanks, and good to hear! Yeah the new terminators and variants will all be based on the same siza ratios, so if these parts fit the current kit, they should also fit the upcoming Knights kit, and al the others that will follow!

Thanks for that mate, I was planning to kit bash a bunch of older terminator with the HH termies for the firstborn deathwing and I was wandering how would they also fit with the newer bigger ones. 😃

3:40 not nostalgic for the old kits myself. I think the profile old ones just look better.

Yeah I do too, I think the ratio between mag and gun size is just better for the old ones, even if the new magazines are more realistic if you want to fire that many shots in one battle without constantly replacing magazines :)

I'm kinda curious how the slightly too small terminator shoulders (such as the grey knights) would fit on different primaris marine kits.
